Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $650   Whatchamacallit (Cal) is a 10 month old Border Terrier x Dachshund mix ready to bring smiles to his forever home! Cal was rescued from the shelter with his sister, Jiggy. We don’t know why this handsome dude landed in the shelter but we promised him his next home would be perfect! Cal currently weighs around 12 pounds and we expect he will remain under 15 pounds when he reaches his adult weight. Cal is just adorable and he’s ready to bring the whimsy and joy to his new people!     Cal is an energetic and curious little gentleman who can’t wait to take on the world with you! He loves trotting after his people as they cover new trails… or as you drop snacks for him. Cal is a total snuggler who would be thrilled to spend the day in your lap, but he’s also down for some solo playtime! He is content to be in your presence even if he isn’t getting constant attention, but he would never say no to giving out some kisses or getting some snuggles. Like any puppy, Cal is full of energy. He loves to play and he’s always down for another lap around the block. Don’t underestimate the little dogs folks… their legs can take them far! However, once the adventure is over, Cal is ready for a long nap on one of his plush thrones. This guy is a huge lover as well and is often found curled up with one (or five) plush toys on his dog bed. His tail is always wagging and he is so amazing it’s impossible not to fall madly in love with him from day one! He would be a fabulous ambassador for those who love the Dachshund breed as he’s got that perfect low-rider body.  Cal wakes up around 8 AM and goes outside for a short walk/potty break. He gets breakfast at 9 AM before he settles in for his morning nap on the couch. Cal wakes back up around 10 AM and spends time exploring the house and playing with his toys. He goes outside a few times a day for potty breaks and some leaf sniffing. Once the workday ends. Cal goes out for a longer walk around 6 PM. He eats dinner once he gets back to his foster home as his people wrap up their day. Once he’s finished eating, he settles into the living room couch as he unwinds with some Netflix. Cal goes out for one more bathroom break around 10 PM and then heads into his crate for the night.  Cal has lived with dogs throughout his life and gets along well with them all. He is super playful! He is always down to meet new people, especially kids with snacks. He walks well on a leash but would benefit from additional training, as he’s still very much in the puppy stage. Cal can’t wait to find a family that will know they won the lottery with him. What(chamacallit) are you waiting for!      Cal is an option for homes with prior dog experience. We will consider first-time homes if they demonstrate readiness for a pup. Kids should be over 6.November 2, 2024, 6:03 pm

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $650   Giblet is a 2 year old Border Terrier mix who’s ready to go on a culinary adventure with his forever home! Giblet was rescued from the shelter when our volunteer arrived to help clear overflowing pens. We jumped into action and scooped this handsome boy up, promising a life of snuggles and love. Giblet weighs 15 pounds and he is just such a fabulously fun-loving little guy. He’s charmed everyone he’s met instantly, it’s impossible not to fall in love with his puppy dog eyes and his brilliant smile. If you have a 15 pound space in your heart for a new best friend, you won’t find a better one than Giblet!      Giblet is a loving and loyal dog who’s ready to fall in love with his forever home! Once he chooses you as his person, you are the light of his life forever and ever. Giblet loves nothing more than being wherever his people are. He loves snuggling, whether in your lap or in his favorite bean bag chair. He has a calm temperament and is content to enjoy a stroll but isn’t going to be a marathoner. Giblet loves his playtime when he’s in the mood for chase or toys, but for the most part loves his couch. He also discovered a best friend in the mirror and it is absolutely hilarious to watch him stare at himself for hours at a time. Giblet’s stubby legs make him an adorable little low-rider for those loving the long and low lifestyle. When he goes up on his hind legs he looks like a little meerkat, a pup worthy of his very own National Geographic show. Giblet is a little foodie who enjoys trying new snacks as often as he can. We can totally picture him making daily trips to the coffee shop for a pup cup (he even loves the smell of coffee) or hitting up the pet store for some tasty jerky. It’s pretty hard to say no to a face that adorable, trust us we’ve tried!  Giblet wakes up at 7 AM and goes right outside to potty and do some morning stretches. He comes inside for breakfast and then heads out on a walk around the neighborhood. During the day, Giblet is pretty low-key energy wise. He’s content to snooze for most of the morning and afternoon, taking occasional trips outside into the yard for potty and sniffs. He goes on another walk before dinner at around 4:30 and then enjoys his evening meal. After he finishes eating, Giblet hops up on the couch for snuggles and cuddles as everyone unwinds from the day. Giblet goes out for one last potty before heading to his crate for the night at 10 PM.  Giblet has lived with dogs of varying sizes and gets along well with them. He would prefer a home with teens or older as little kids can be a bit loud for him. Giblet walks well on the leash and follows his people loyally. He is house trained and crate trained. Giblet would be best suited for a calm home ready for a loyal best friend for life. He can’t wait to get his next adventure started with you.      Giblet is only an option for homes with prior dog experience, even if less recent. Kids should be over the age of 8. November 2, 2024, 6:03 pm

Story
Ezra is truly a wonderful dog. The only thing that is holding him back is himself and well, maybe the other dogs in the house. Hes a bit scared and afraid of his surroundings and a behaviorist diagnosed him with anxiety with stackable triggers. Even with medication he has gotten worse with his anxiety. It all depends on him though and its like he is changing his mind all too frequently. We have 3 other small dogs in the house with big personalities and hes stressed and anxious when he is around them. Im not sure if I am also a cause of anxiety for him as he tends to favor my husband. We want nothing but the best for him but also think it will take the right house to make this work. He can get along with other dogs as long as they are smaller than he is (afraid of bigger dogs) but again it would take the right paring to make it work where maybe him being the only dog in the house would be best. I want him to thrive and succeed and be the happy dog that I know is in there!
