I'm an adult with a job and a mortgage, yet the other day I snatched a food bowl away from a fellow volunteer and shouted, "mine!"It was Mika's food bowl, and I had been looking forward to feeding him all morning!NOBODY greets you like Mika -- He spins! He makes joyful chatterbox sounds! He rubs his soft self against you and looks at you like you hung the stars and moon!You don't have to bring him food -- Mika's overjoyed to see you no matter what -- but it's nice to have something tasty to give him after he puts on such a show for you. Mika is a 2-year-old Border Collie Mix -- healthy, affectionate, smart, joyful and loyal! He immediately connects with you -- talk to him, and he really seems to be listening! Mika was a FABULOUS dog in a home (housetrained with excellent manners), but Mika made it his mission to herd and "protect" his family's four-year-old human, and that put everyone, including Mika, on edge. So, in order to relax and be the happiest, calmest Mika he can be, we're looking for a home with no young children. Mika would also prefer a home without other pets -- this way, he can enjoy life instead of constantly working to organize and manage everything!If you want a constant companion who's eager to learn and please, who loves to play and cuddle, and who'd enjoy long hikes and neighborhood strolls, then you want Mika! Come meet Mika, and you'll understand why I almost ruined a friendship with a fabulous volunteer in order to feed him (yes -- I apologized later. But I'd do it again.). At 2-3 years old and around 40 pounds, I’m the perfect blend of brains and brawn. My captivating blue eyes will have you falling head over paws! I’m a high-energy guy, always ready for an adventure. Whether it’s chasing a ball, exploring the great outdoors, or learning new tricks, count me in! I’m super smart and a quick learner – especially if treats are involved. Meet Charlie Barkley. He is a sweet, playful awesome dog who is very easy to love. He walks on a leash but needs additional training as he pulls. He knows some basic commands but does need a bit more training. Charlie is a 1 to 1 1/2 year old neutered male who weighs approximately 52 lbs. He was originally adopted by a family that decided they no longer wanted him so they dumped him in a south Nashville neighborhood. Charlie was found by a nice family that took him but cannot keep him because they have older cats. They would love to add him to their family but it just win't work out. He's been vet checked, is current on his vaccines and is in excellent health. Charlie is full of puppy energy and ready to play ball with the children. He needs a younger active and energetic family who can give him the exercise and play that he needs. A fecned in yard is a MUST for Charlie. When not playing, by the way ball is his favorite game, he loves to snuggle and get belly rubs. Charlie is patiently waiting for his forever family to find him. We are calling them "Border Bullies"! Mama is a Border Collie, dad is a Pit Bull! I cannot imagine how smart these pups will be! They were born on October 13th. The owner of Nelly (mom) and Bruce (dad) unfortunately wound up in jail and obviously couldn't take care of this little family so they were surrendered to us on the day they were born. Both mom and dad have beautiful temperaments so I am quite sure these pups will be amazing! They will be available for adoption by January 11, 2025. We are delighted to say that during this beautiful season of renewal and friendship and family bonding, we have 8 precious little Border Collie/Aussie mix puppies that are looking for a fresh and forever start to their life. Born about the middle of October to a beautiful Aussie mix mom, these babies were fortunately taken in by a senior couple who nurtured them for 7 weeks. Now these precious beauties are in individual foster homes and learning so much as they grow. 5 boys and 3 girls. They are handled and cuddled so much! No fear issues have touched their spirit! Mom is a 45 pound white and black beauty and we expect each of these smart pups to be in the 45-50 pound range as an adult.
