Story
https://foha.org/pet/nelson2021/ Nelson here! My new adoptive family will need to be ready to provide a lot of training which my friends at FOHA will help to coordinate at time of adoption. I can be unpredictable so I am looking for a family with no kids 15 and under. Look deep into my different colored eyes - then get me a ball! I LOVE to play fetch! The second I see a ball or hear you say the word, I'm ready to play. I know how to fetch and I'll bring the ball right back to you and drop it at your feet. I also love water and getting sprayed with a hose! I've been lucky to join doggy social here at FOHA and I have enjoyed playing with other dogs. I love going for walks as I get to know the volunteers and they get to know me. As much as I like new dogs I am not comfortable around a lot of new people. So I would not do well in a dog park or doggie daycare. I'll go ahead and say it, I'm extremely smart. I'm looking for an active family that will put my intelligence to good use. I would love to have a huge fenced in backyard to chase my ball until my heart is content. Apartments and condos will not be a good fit for me. If you would like to come meet me, submit an application and we can set up a time to get to know each other. See you soon!! I am looking for a home with no kids, no cats, house with a large backyard, and an experienced owner willing to work on training. Check out all of the dogs available at Friends of Homeless Animals! https://foha.org/pet-adoption/find-a-dog/

Story
https://foha.org/pet/pelican2022/ Hey there, I'm Pelican, and while I may be a dog, my dreams take flight! I'm a spirited and cheerful fellow, always ready for some fun and games. Among all the activities, soccer is my absolute favorite, and I can't resist a thrilling match with my volunteer friends at FOHA. I've had a taste of home life before, where I shared the space with another dog. Things started off well, but I quickly realized that I might be at my best as the only four-legged companion in the house. If you're looking for an only-dog scenario, count me in! I'm a people-loving pup and have the boundless energy that's typical of a border collie mix. Bonus: I'm super soft to the touch, making cuddle time even better. If you're considering bringing me into your life, I have a special request. I'd thrive in a home with a very experienced owner who's up for working with me on a few behavioral challenges. I'd also do best in a home without children. I'm eager to shower you with love and am more than willing to learn and grow. So, what do you say? Will you be the one to come and meet me and embark on this incredible journey together? I'm waiting to spread my wings and soar with you!

Story
Rosie was a stray in South Carolina who was picked up by a good samaritan along with two other dogs.  The shelter picked them all up and quickly realized that Rosie was pregnant.  They were able to put Rosie in a foster home, and they guessed that she would deliver her puppies within two weeks. They were right.  Rosie had 10 puppies, but unfortunately one of them didn't survive.  Poor Rosie worked so hard to feed her babies as much as she could, but it took a toll on her body.  She was very thin, and eventually unable to feed them any more.  Luckily, the pups began to eat mush and were able to survive. Rosie is now healthy and happy in her new foster home. Rosie is a very sweet girl and is gaining confidence every day. She loves people and is great with other dogs. Rosie would love to find her forever home.Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org December 27, 2024, 8:18 am

Story
Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 28th!  This is the day Rosie's babies will be making their public debut.  If you read the 'details' about Rosie, pictured above, the mother of these adorable puppies, you will know what a tough start in life this big family had.  Rosie did her best, but trying to provide nourishment for her huge litter cost her a lot in terms of her own health, and it was determined that the best thing to do was to wean the babies at five weeks of age and give Rosie a chance to rest and recuperate.  So, they arrived, after a 500 mile trip, to our foster's home at the ripe old age of 5.5 weeks. The pictures we have posted were taken as they came off the transport, a little weary and worse for the wear.  New pictures will be posted as soon as possible. But you should see them now!  Talk about energy!  Talk about an appetite!  These puppies are feasting on huge nutritious meals several times a day, plus learning to eat dry kibble in between.  Very, very playful and affectionate. Many people will ask, 'What breed are they?'  Good question.  Mom is listed as a Border Collie Mix, but dad is unknown.  Four of them are almost solid black, and almost identical in size with slight variations in markings.  Two of the remaining five have very fluffy tan coats, as soft as your child's favorite teddy bear, with black trim. Come meet them in person, sit with them, cuddle them.  They will love it and so will you!Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org December 25, 2024, 10:27 pm
