Story
male, 2 years old, 51.5 lbs Personality: Playful, eager-to-please, easygoing, smart and gentle. Champ is a gentle and friendly dog who loves spending time with his humans, whether it's going for a walk, sunbathing in the yard, or snuggling on the sofa. He has a calm, easygoing nature and gets along well with other dogs. Champ's gentle spirit shines through in his quiet demeanor; he rarely barks and is generally unfazed by new surroundings or noises. Champ is a fast learner who is eager to please, making him a great match for someone looking to build a strong bond. He's already crate-trained and does well on a leash, making walks a breeze. Champ is making strides on his house training. He would love a home where he can enjoy a few walks, some playtime, and lots of love. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate, and easygoing companion, Champ would be a perfect addition to your family! Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
Meet our rare and beautiful Jolene, a stunning 3-year-old, 35-pound Red Merle Border Collie with a heart full of joy and a personality that will melt the heart as well! Jolene is playful, friendly, and always eager to greet her favorite people with a low, charming howl. She’s a social butterfly who loves children, adores cuddles, and thrives in the company of other dogs and even cats. This intelligent girl enjoys playing ball and is incredibly responsive to commands. She knows how to sit, stay, come, and heel, and she excels on a leash with the guidance of a strong leader—walking right at your side when told to 'heel.' True to her Border Collie nature, Jolene is a quick learner who seems to understand what you’re thinking before you even say it! While Jolene was house-trained as a puppy, she’s spent most of her recent time outdoors on a farm. She would thrive in a home with a fenced yard but is not suited for a home with chickens or livestock she is tempted to chase.  Her vibrant energy, loyal disposition, and affectionate nature make her the perfect companion for an active family who is ready to give her all the love and attention she deserves.  N We would like to know if a responding and adoptive family has any hurting breed experience in owning a dog. They are uniquely intelligent and training sensitive dogs.  Ready to bring Jolene home? Email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to request an adoption application. Let’s find this amazing girl her forever family! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 18, 2024, 7:24 pm

Story
Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Fairfax, VA Gus is an 4 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs 40 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Gus is nervous around strangers! No children or dogs, due to his reactivity! He hasn’t been tested around cats. Several years ago, Gus escaped from the yard while someone else was watching him. A stranger found him and went to grab his collar, which caused Gus to bite the stranger. Gus is currently on gabapentin, clonidine, and Sertaline for his reactivity. His owner says that when he isn’t triggered, he is loving, loyal, smart, playful, and energetic! The owner is surrendering him because he doesn’t do well with their young children. If you think you can provide a great home for Gus, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Gus. Owner’s Contact Information: Devin at elliott.family.8823@gmail.com
