Story
Current Location: Korea 🇰🇷 ♡ 🧡 Meet Ma-eum A gentle soul learning to love again Ma-eum spent his early years tied outside on a farm, living in fear. He was abused by a male owner and frightened by children who threw balls at him. Because of that, he is still afraid of men, loud playground sounds, and the sight of bouncing toys. But despite all this, Ma-eum has the gentlest heart. For the past two years, he has been living in a patient and loving foster home. He has made slow, steady progress — on his terms — and is now ready for the next chapter of his life. 🧬 Personality Ma-eum is a quiet, thoughtful boy with a soft energy. He feels safest around gentle women with warm voices, and he truly thrives in calm, peaceful homes. He may keep his distance from men indoors, but sometimes shows more courage when outdoors. He isn’t the kind of dog who will run into your arms — but with time and patience, he’ll follow you anywhere. He enjoys peaceful walks, nosework games, gentle pets, and long naps by your side. He doesn't bark much, and he waits quietly when left alone after a short adjustment. 🏡 At Home ✅ House-trained (prefers peeing on vertical surfaces — his foster can provide wall-to-floor pads) ✅ Good with calm dogs (interested and social but may growl at overly excited dogs) ✅ Neutral to cats (no strong prey drive) ✅ Tolerates children (nervous around fast movements but never aggressive) ✅ Excellent in the car ✅ Loves brushing and gentle touch 🚫 Afraid of balls and squeaky toys — he prefers games with treats instead 💛 Ma-eum is looking for… A family who will let him set the pace. Someone who doesn’t expect instant cuddles but understands how meaningful it is when a shy dog chooses to stay close. Ideally, a female adopter or a quiet household with gentle energy. 📦 Foster home can provide pee pad setup 📍 Adoption includes interview & home check 📩 If Ma-eum’s story touched your heart, we’d love to tell you more. He’s been waiting a long time for someone who sees past the fear — and into his true, beautiful heart

Story
Meet Olive—the Red Merle Rocket with a Heart of Gold in Search of Her Forever! Looking for a sidekick who’s equal parts athlete, genius, protector, and snuggle bug? Meet Olive—a 2-year-old, 30-pound Australian Shepherd with a full tail, a red-merle coat, and a master’s degree in being awesome. Olive is the adventure buddy of your dreams: Car rides? She’ll call shotgun. Walks and hikes? Lace up those shoes. Ball, tug, or swimming? She’s got Olympic-level enthusiasm. Training? She’s smarter than your average reality show contestant and learns new things faster than you can Google “how to tire out a herding dog.” She knows her basic obedience! Olive is crate trained (it’s her safe space) and house-trained. She’s also been exposed to dock diving and LOVES it! But let’s talk personality: Olive is playful and happy, but her love language is quality time. She doesn’t need to be in your lap every second—just near you, close enough to know she’s your number one. Now, a couple of ground rules from Olive herself: Men? Sorry, fellas, this girl prefers ladies. Quality girl time! Any men in Olive’s life will need to be gentle, kind, and have the patience of Job. Kids? Herding small humans is apparently “not acceptable,” so better to keep her world adult-only. Other pets? Also a no-go. Olive wants to be your one and only diva—and honestly, she deserves it! Apartment life? Nope. She’s a “room to roam” kind of gal. What Olive does want is an active home—someone who understands that Aussies are wired for fun, structure, and the occasional zoomie or splash. A fenced yard would be her dream playground, but what she really needs is someone willing to give her love, patience, and the occasional car ride with the windows down. From Olive (probably): “Listen, I’m cute, smart, and athletic—basically the total package. I just need someone who gets me: no men, no other pets, and plenty of walks, hikes, or games of fetch. In return, I’ll be your co-pilot, your trail buddy, your secret keeper, your best friend and maybe even your alarm clock (sorry in advance). Swipe right… I mean, apply today. Let’s make this forever thing happen!” Olive is fostered in Kingsport, TN.

Story
Meet Chester 🐾 Chester is approximately 60 lbs., long-legged and handsome, house-trained, neutered, crate-trained, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. Before joining ARMA, Chester didn’t have an easy start. He and another dog were left behind for months in a kennel, surrounded by overgrown weeds and with very little care. Thankfully, a local shelter stepped in and rescued them. After spending two months there, Chester finally found his way to ARMA and into a loving foster home—where his healing truly began. When Chester first arrived, the world felt overwhelming. He was nervous and unsure, often trying to disappear into corners, shrubs, or any quiet space he could find. But in just a short time, something beautiful started to happen. With the gentle guidance of his foster siblings, Chester began to observe, learn, and slowly come out of his shell. Each day, his confidence grows. It’s clear he wants affection, treats, and to belong—he’s just learning how to feel safe along the way. Chester is still building confidence on walks. He looks to his dog friends for reassurance and bravery, and once he’s out, he enjoys sniffing around and exploring. Passing cars are still scary for him, and he may freeze or want to retreat, so he’ll need a patient adopter who understands that confidence comes with time, consistency, and kindness. Chester’s Ideal Home: 🐶 Patience Chester is still learning about the world. Many things are new, and some can be frightening. He needs a compassionate home that will move at his pace, provide positive guidance, and celebrate the small victories along the way. 🐕 A playful dog buddy (or two!) Chester loves other dogs. Wrestling, chase, and playful romps with his foster siblings are his favorite things. Other dogs help him learn how to “dog” and give him confidence, especially while he’s still working on walks. At this stage, canine play is his best form of exercise. 🌳 A fenced yard Outside is where Chester truly shines. He becomes happy, goofy, and relaxed, especially when spending time outdoors with his people and dog friends. A fenced yard gives him the freedom to be his best self. Once Chester trusts you, you’ll gain a devoted companion, loyal shadow, and excellent couch buddy. He’ll reward you with soulful, adoring looks and moments of sweet silliness that make every bit of patience worth it. If you’re looking for a gentle soul who just needs time and love to fully bloom, Chester may be the perfect addition to your family. 💙 Apply at https://aussierescueofthemidatlantic.org/applications-2/

Story
Meet Emmie – A Special Soul with a Heart Full of Love Emmie is a year old double merle Australian Shepherd with a heart as big as her gentle spirit. Born deaf and visually impaired, she may not experience the world quite like other dogs, but she navigates life beautifully in her own way. Her foster says that she is, without question, one of the sweetest and gentlest dogs she's ever had. Low-energy and content with many cat naps throughout the day, Emmie is no trouble at all. She loves both people and dogs, though she can be shy and nervous when first meeting new friends. With patience, slow movements, and a gentle approach, Emmie learns to trust and soon shows her affectionate side. Like most dogs, Emmie explores the world through her nose—sniffing people, pups, and new spaces to understand them. She responds well to gentle touches and has learned that when I pat her back, she is safe. While her vision is limited—she cannot see objects right in front of her—she can see shadows, and once she memorizes her surroundings, she zips around with surprising confidence. Indoors and in familiar spaces, Emmie’s natural curiosity shines. She especially enjoys spending time outside during the day, soaking in all the scents and sensations. Nighttime, however, can feel a little scary for her, so a calm and reassuring environment is best. Emmie’s manners are impeccable. She does not beg for food, jump up on people, or bark often. Instead, she prefers to quietly find a cozy spot in the home. What she does love is attention—having someone sit with her, pet her, and guide her to new places in the house. She is happiest when she’s by her human’s side. House-trained and consistent, Emmie goes outside three times a day and has even learned the route through the house to the yard, sometimes using the doggie door. She enjoys walks—especially after carefully surveying her surroundings—and never pulls on the leash. She also delights in chew bones and bully sticks. Emmie is truly a special dog—sweet, resilient, and full of quiet love. With the right home, she will blossom into the most loyal and tender-hearted companion you could ever hope for. If Emmie's next home could be yours, please apply at Aussie Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic, https://aussierescueofthemidatlantic.org/applications-2/
