Meet Pesto!! This gorgeous boy was rescued as a stray a couple years ago and moved to MA to be adopted. Unfortunately, once a baby joined the family, Pesto needed a new place to go. So he hit the road and is now back in his home town of Houston. He's a friendly guy who loves treats and getting attention. He wakes up with his big smile everyday. He's currently in boarding, so he's working on his leash skills while there. He's really excited at the beginning of his walking adventure and may pull some, but settles in nicely. Pesto is listed at about 3.5 years but we think he could be a bit older. He weighs about 55lbs. Pesto does have longer hair so that requires a bit of beauty maintenance. We think Pesto would be best in an adult only home. He tends to get mats on his tail if not properly cared for, and this makes his rear end very sensitive. He can get upset if you try to touch him there when he has a mat. If you would like to meet Pesto, please reach out! Mikka is a 40 lb, spunky Border Collie mix. This girl is really loving life. She is a very sweet girl, but is a bit insecure(aren't we all). Mika would thrive with people that will help her learn and feel secure in the world. She enjoys meeting new people, going on car rides, and LOVES spending time outdoors. She loves her morning walks and has a favorite ball that we play fetch with in the yard. Mikka is super smart and catches on to new things quickly. She knows sit, down, to wait to come out of her crate before you say okay and listens super well when you ask her to crate up. She does okay with other dogs but is definitely on the defensive till she gets comfortable, She'd thrive the most as an only child. She needs an active family that will keep both her mind and body stimulated. She is slowly learning to be a great cuddler. Mikka is a very sweet girl and would be a great companion, she will love you with all her heart. She has a lot of herding instincts and would be great for working/sports/competition. From Chip's foster mom: We helped take care of Bea’s litter as they were growing up, and my son and I often referred to the sable boys as “The Chipmunks”. So when Busy joined us - and his two sisters we had adopted - we started calling him Chip! Chip was born May 6, 2024. He is 50% Australian Cattle Dog, 25% collie and 25% a mix of other breeds. He is up to date on vaccines, HW negative and soon to be neutered and weighs around 40 lbs. Chip is a sweet, sensitive soul. It’s hard not to adopt him ourselves! He takes some time to warm up, but once he knows he is safe, he’s in your arms in no time. He enjoys sitting with us on the back porch and watching the other dogs play, observing the chickens, ducks, and goats in the back of the property, and taking it all in. He’ll also climb in our laps on the couch. He has been started on loose leash walking and basic manners. He is very food motivated, and loves to carry around toys. Chip is willing to try new things, with lots of encouragement and a slow, steady pace. He is crate trained, and only takes a short time to settle in. He does need to eat his dinner out of a slow feeder bowl otherwise he is quite the fast eater! He has started getting accustomed to having his nails dremeled when on the grooming table. Chip would do best in a home with a confident but friendly and mild mannered dog (male or female), or be the only dog. He has a tendency to want all of the attention to himself and has occasionally let the other dogs in his foster home know that he wants left alone while he gets attention. I would not suggest he be around cats or small animals, as he has shown quite an interest in our Chinchilla and the outdoor cats. I would recommend him with kids over 10, as he will jump to get attention (we’re still working on that!) and his nervousness in new situations. When he gets nervous he just belly flops or “puts on the brakes”. He is motivated to move by positive words and especially tidbits of food. Chip doesn’t love car rides since he still gets a little carsick, but if his human is going - I’m sure he’d be happy to tag along to quiet places. Born 5/6/2024, Bug is at the perfect age to join a loving family. Bursting with curiosity and energy, Bug loves exploring the world and learning new things. So very smart and eager to please! Bug trains easily and picks up on commands quickly. Bug loves playing with toys, running around the yard, and lounging with his foster mom soaking up the cuddles.
