Story
Henry came to us as a young pup and was diagnosed with Megaesophagus. You can see by looking at him that it does not slow him down. The absolute only thing different between him and any other dog is that he has to eat on two feet. Everything else is normal. Eating on 4 feet is not an option for him. However, he can drink and have treats on 4. He is crate, house trained, and doggie door trained. He gets along well with all size of dogs as he has several foster siblings. He is very loving and affectionate and believe it or not is sensitive. When researching this condition, ask questions as not all cases are the same. His foster has had two different ME dogs and both are very different. He needs that special person who will look after him and make sure he stays and healthy and happy as he is now. He would love to have a playmate too.

Story
Gordy is a fluffy cookie monster, trapped in the body of a Border Collie. He doesn't know how to herd livestock or chase balls. He'd rather sit pretty for treats than run after sheep.Gordy is as handsome as they come! His right ear always stands at attention, while his left cocks to the side and a smile is stretched across his face. He loves to play tag in the yard with other dogs and tries to beat the neighboring dog to the end of the fence line. Gordy may be a little slow when feeling at ease in new situations or with new people, but once he knows you're a good person, he'll think you're the bee's knees and want to be friends!Would you like to wake up to Gordy's smile every morning? Then contact OHAR to learn more about how to meet him!History: Gordy was turned into the Mesquite Animal shelter when found as a stray. Gordy is a happy, playful guy who is eager to please. He is crate trained graduated from obedience training where he was a star pupil.Adoption Process: After your application is approved, a home visit is schedule. We will bring the pet to you and help with introductions to your current pet(s). You will then have a week with the pet to ensure they are the right fit for your home. At the end of the week, you finalize the adoption and the pet is officially part of your family! Learn more at ohar.org/adoptionprocess

Story
Meet Donny, picked up along with a sibling I named Marie as strays by one of our officers and brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/30. Donny weighs 47 pounds and is about 5 months of age. My Dog Scanner app suggests the possible breeds in his mix as Lab/Retriever, Border Collie, Stabyhoun, Flat Coat Retriever. He walks quite nicely on a leash and is a happy-go-lucky, tail-wagging spunky pup. Though I could not interest Donny in playing with toys or balls, he is a very playful little fellow. He has plenty of puppy behavior and energy and is needing a home in which he will receive patience and TLC as he works through the normal puppy stage stuff. He is crazy about treats and takes them nicely. He is a friendly and charming little boy and more than anxious to get out of the shelter ASAP. He absolutely positively does not want to live as a backyard dog. Though he and his sibling are kenneled together and get along well, they probably would be just fine adopted or rescued separately.

Story
This very cutesy pup with a sprinkling of freckles across her nose is Marie, picked up along with her sibling Donny by one of our officers on 10/30 and brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. Marie weighs 41 pounds and is approximately 5 months old. Marie walks nicely on a leash for a five month old. She is an outgoing, fun-loving youngster with an overload of puppy enthusiasm! She is lively, active, and alert and very playful. Though she wasn’t interested in toys or balls, she wanted to run and play. Doubtless, she was thrilled to pieces to be out of her kennel with some room to move about during her evaluation. She was not happy to be taken and placed back in her kennel. She loves treats and takes them politely. Marie is friendly and sociable and more than happy to be petted once she takes a break from playtime. She and Donny are kenneled together and they get along great! They are bonded, but would likely be just fine adopted or rescued separately. She dreams of a forever home in which she would receive lots of daily playtime, exercise, enrichment, and a comfy doggy bed or two around the house.

Story
Panda is almost 2 years old. We found him and 2 others on the side of the road when they were about 3 months old. We took them in to foster for a short time to ensure that they were healthy and loved while the shelters were full. We are hoping to get him to a home where he will be able to run around, get his energy out and explore. He is very sweet, playful and loves attention and being pet. He gets along well with dogs and cats. He is also good around children. Panda has never been a single pet in a household so we are not sure how he will do as a solo pet. He is up to date on shots and does well at the boarding facility with other animals. Loves: -playing in water -getting toys out of the bin -getting treats for doing tasks -observing you cook -being on a schedule Dislikes: -eating around others
