Story
Star is a 12 year old retired PTSD service dog. He was 57 pounds at his last vet visit. He has arthritis. I need to rehome him due to an upcoming divorce and greatly reduced income. He is given gabapentin for his arthritis once a day ($9.50 per month). Service dog training begins with Canine Good Citizen training. We did not take the CGC test, but Star would pass it with a quick run through the steps. He loves children, laying in sun spots, and watching over the neighborhood from the front yard. He does not like baths. He shakes. He does not like thunderstorms. He shakes, whines a little, and looks at you pleading to make it stop. If he barks once every six months, that is a lot. If you take a turn in the car roughly, he comments on it with a moan. (grin) You are only in danger of being licked and leaned on. He has worked with many trainers who describe him as a marshmallow.

Story
Nala is a sweet loving girl. Loves to play and have fun. Unfortunately she has a little too much fun with our older German Shepard and they have started to not get along. Mostly over toys and things. I think she would do great with a family with a big back yard that loves to play. She's almost a year and a half old so she has plenty of time to grow with your family. I think she would do better with a laid back dog and experienced owners. She's also good with our cats.

Story
Norma was brought into the shelter after being found as a stray in April. She is a sweet, energetic young dog who loves to play with toys and romp around the play yard. She especially loves fetch and is on alert for the ball to be thrown . Norma is friendly and affectionate . After playtime, she enjoys relaxing close to her person and appreciates pets and treats . She does pull some on leash in her excitement getting a kennel break but is easy to manage . Norma is a fun and happy girl and a pleasure to spend time with. She will make a wonderful companion in an active, loving home.*Norma is currently not living at the shelter but still available for adoption so please email asoanimaladoption@austintexas.gov for next steps, if you are interested in meeting her!*

Story
Marshall is an adorable Australian Shepherd Lab mix who was adopted from a shelter when he was 3 months old. He is now 2y/o and is full of love. He is very energetic and the perfect dog to play with. He is very caring, very smart, and has the mind of a service dog (once given the proper training). He loves to run and play catch. He listens well and obeys. He needs a good amount of play time to balance out his energetic spirit, but with a busy schedule that’s hard for us to provide. His love language is physical touch and quality time. He just wants you there to pet him. He’s very low maintenance, doesn’t shed much, doesn’t like eating more than twice a day (excluding treats & snacks), loves water.

Story
LIO is an easy going special needs 2 year old Australian Cattle dog terrier mix looking for a loving human companion. He is a special boy who is deaf, but it is hard to tell because he adapts easily. Would be best with an adopter who can be in charge and give him clear expectations of what is expected of him. In return, you will have a loving companion, who wants to please and enjoy life with you. Moderately active boy, who even though he is young, is not hyper or nervous. Happy to go for walks, cuddle up on the couch, lay at your feet while you work on the computer or follow you around the yard as you garden. He just wants love, attention (but not needy) and a soft place to lounge. Dog friendly with female, large and small dogs who won't get 'yappy' in his face. He would love to be your one and only, getting all of your affection. Housetrained, with good house manners. Crate trained, although not his favorite, he will go in, but would prefer to be laying at your feet. Enjoys sitting in his human's lap, getting pet and belly rubs. He enjoys treats, dog toys, long belly rubs, lounging in the pool on the steps or sunning himself in the yard. Great car rider who likes to feel the fresh air and sunshine on his face. Lio has had professional training learning how to walk next to his person on a leash, and has mastered commands 'sit, down, stay and off'. Sleeps through the night in his own bed. Has not been destructive inside or outside. Not a big barker at all. Has not been cat tested, so we are unable to adopt him to a home with cats or small critters. He would be great for a family with grown children, single person or a couple. A home with a fenced yard would be best to keep him safe. Deaf dog experience is not required, just a good adopter, willing to be a leader and give him a loved life. Lio is 49 lbs, neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, including rabies, heartworm negative and current on prevention. Fostered in Texas, with transportation available to most U.S. states.

Story
Blue Merle Mini Aussie. Bob can be skiddish and timid with a lot of people around, he is even skiddish and timid when first meeting someone. He is not great with babies/toddlers as he nipped our little one one time, main reason we have to part ways with him. His nip was very small and maybe a drop of blood, he has never full on bit anyone and he is not aggressive. It takes time for him to warm up and trust someone, but as soon as he does you will love this dog. He is very loyal and has the funniest personality. His best friend is Yaddi, the other Red Mini Aussie you see in the pictures. I would love to have someone adopt both dogs as Yaddi has really brought Bob out of his shell. Bob is great at listening and walking on and off leash. He loves to laydown by you and is also fine hanging out on his own. He has been house trained for a long time, but if something scares him he has peed a tiny bit on the floor here and there.
