Story
Maizie is a ~4 month old puppy (as of 12/09/24) who arrived at LHS as a three week old baby after being handed to a woman by a stranger at a local Walmart. After the shock wore off, the woman who was given the puppy took her to the shelter for help.   Maizie is a sweet girl who likes to play and nap. She loves to be petted, especially belly rubs, and is very affectionate. She likes to give gentle kisses to show her love. Maizie is a sun bather-completely loves warm sunshine! Maizie is gentle and sweet tempered with a goofy puppy side too. She enjoys playing with her foster sisters in the yard and inside. We believe she would do well with other doggie friends or alone as she is equally comfortable alone as with the other dogs in the home. She is excellent at the game of fetch. Maizie loves a good, fuzzy, comfy bed, crinkle toys and chew toys! She’s potty trained and goes to the door to request to go out. She does well with the cats in her foster home but occasionally forgets her manners and wants to play a little chase. She takes correction from the cats well. Puppies at this age will require patience and training to become the best pup they can be.   Current weight 40+ lbs Projected weight 60+ Crate training:  crate trained   We are requesting a donation of $325 for the adoption which includes her spay, three rounds of puppy vaccines, a rabies vaccine, microchip with registration, dewormer and a single dose of heartworm preventative. We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. If you're interested in meeting or adopting her, please complete an application on our website and someone will reach out to you within 48 hours.  https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/   Adopter will take the puppy to an LHS approved vet to be spayed in December of 2024 per the spay/neuter agreement and in accordance to Chapter 828, Texas Health and Safety Code.  *Due to the high volume of applications and inquires for puppies as well as vetting needs, we will not be able to respond to or consider interest from those outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.  We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Meet Izzy bizzy bee   Izzy is a very special girl and she’s looking for her very special family, maybe that’s you or someone you know!  Izzy is a former alumni dog who has come back to BCRRT - through no fault of her previous family - unfortunately circumstances changed and it was best for all parties that Izzy come back to us.  Since being back we have learnt all about Izzy and her wonderful personality. We have discovered the love she gives us is never ending, the cuddles she produces are out of this world and that she loves nothing more than her donut ring toy and a tennis ball!! She does take time to warm up but once she trusts you, she bonds to her person/people and is ready for all the adventures that lie ahead.  Izzy will need a home that is quiet. She would be best suited to a family with no young children and no other dogs.  She is such a sweet girl with love to give and would love to find her forever home with people willing to spend time with her, throwing a ball around, quiet walks with her humans and cuddles.  She is active but has an excellent off-switch and knows when it is time for inside vs outside. Izzy would do well with an older couple, maybe an empty-nest home where she can be spoilt forever and ever. In return she will give you her unwavering loyalty and spunk  Izzy is around 6 years old, UTD on all shots and spayed. She is crate trained but is perfectly fine out of one, she walks well on a leash but is strong. She rides well in a car and is located in the DFW area.  Interested? Reach out to us and apply today! We believe Izzy deserves the world and can’t wait to help her find it.

Story
Lucy goosy goose 🪿 or at least that’s what my foster dad says when it’s time for dinner!  Hi! My name is Lucy! I am a 5 year old female Border Collie in the DFW area, searching for my furever home…is that you?!  I am around 40lbs, spayed and UTD on shots.  I’m your typical BC - herdy, nerdy, active and playful! And sometimes a little quirky.  I was an owner surrender to a Texas shelter because my owners couldn’t care for my vet bills anymore. After many tests, trials and treatments the vets were a little stumped on why I sometimes have issues digesting my food 🍲 sometimes I eat too quickly and sometimes food gives me indigestion so it comes back up.  It doesn’t affect me much beyond some fluctuating weight and doesn’t happen all the time - see, quirky!  My foster parents said whoever adopts me just needs to be patient and kind with me.  I would do best as an only dog or with a four-legged friend who is playful and doesn’t mind me wanting to herd them!  I would also do best in a home with older children because I do like to herd (I’m a border collie!)  Maybe even an older home with someone to keep me company during the day, walks and play time!  I am cat tested and safe, the resident cat is a little scary.  I am crate trained, leash trained and my favourite thing in the world is to play fetch!!  If I sound like the girl for you, reach out today and apply at our website - www.BCRRT.com

Story
Louiie's Mom loves him deeply but Louie is fearful of her toddler..\He would be great with older children.  He is super sweet, very loving and the vety best boy!  He is so handsome and gets along with other dogs as well.  He's about 50 lbs, 6 years old, good with other dogs, unsure about cats.  He would love a home where his people are home more than not.  He loves affection and attention!  He is housebroken as well. ##1897992##

Story
We call her Orphan Annie since we found her abandoned on a hiking trail. Sort of amazing now that we have gotten to know her and that she stayed in one place long enough to be rescued.Annie is probably a Stubby Tail Cattle Dog, very much an Australian Cattle Dog with an emphasis on being active and engaged. Annie is typical of the herding breed, meant to nip at others to direct where to go. For this reason, she would not be good in a home with young children and is the kind of girl who needs a job.Annie loves being active and into everything. She usually has two speeds, sleeping, and full blast; unless she is one-on-one with her human when she is totally engaged. She is smart and would be a terrific girl to train for just about any high activity - herding, agility, anything that keeps her thinking and able to get praise for doing the right thing. This beautiful, compact girl will give back 200 percent and is capable of complex tasks; high endurance and willingness to please. If you need a working companion to be part of your everyday life you could not find a better match. She is fully vetted, microchipped, spayed, and current with her flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Toast will never say no to endless cuddles & belly rubs. She is also very energetic, playful & especially silly. Perfect mix of both cuddly and playful! Toast is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and are on heartworm prevention.  If you are interested in adopting one of these adorable pups, complete an online adoption today at: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/ and the foster will be in touch asap.  DOB: 7/22/2024 Weight: Approx 35-45 lbs when full grown This group of 6 pups were abandoned in a park and a teacher with e Vet Med program at a local Prosper HS took them in to help find them homes. They reached out to LHS for assistance getting them vetted and placing them in forever homes, while also working on this wonderful animal care school project! Puppies are all working on their house training and crate training. Because they are just pups, they will need a home with the time and patience to teach them how to be the best doggies they can be. Because they are a herding breed, they are not recommended to be adopted to homes with small children as they will herd the children instinctively and many miss interpret this as nipping and or aggressive behavior. But in reality, it is what they are bred to do. They do wonderful with cats and dogs and all shapes and sizes.
