Story
Meet Rex – Your Loyal Companion Awaits! Rex is a special 8-year-old dog with a heart full of love to give. He was adopted from the Dallas Animal Shelter as a tiny two-month-old puppy and has been a faithful friend ever since. Unfortunately, his life took a turn when his owners were displaced, and he found himself living under a car for a long time. But even after enduring such hardship, Rex’s sweet nature has never wavered. Rex is a 40-pound boy who walks beautifully on a leash, goes into his kennel without a fuss, and has a calm, quiet demeanor. He’s friendly with everyone he meets, making him a remarkable companion for anyone looking for a loyal friend. He’s also the perfect size—not too big to be in the way, but just right to snuggle up with you on the couch. While Rex did test positive for heartworms, he’ completed his 3 shot treatment. During this time , until Feb 1st., Rex will need a calm environment, but with his laid-back personality, this should be no problem at all. We’re committed to helping Rex find a loving home where he can experience the comfort and care he deserves. Rex is looking for either a forever home or a foster home where he can stay safe, warm, and loved. He’s spent too much time without the comforts of a home, and it’s time for him to know what it’s like to be cherished indoors, whether it’s in the cool air conditioning during the summer or by the heater in the winter. Please consider giving Rex the life he’s always deserved. Meet this incredible dog, and you’ll see why he’s one of our favorites. Fill out an adoption or foster application today, and let Rex show you the true meaning of unconditional love. Adoption fee is $225 Dallas TX https://chloespetrescue.org/application

Story
We have had Oliver since he was just weeks old and he has always been such a loving pup. He was given to my daughter by a friend. He has always been an indoor dog and he was potty trained pretty easily. He is great with children, as long as we had him never had issues with him. He loves attention and for people to pet him. He is not a barker, only when he wants to get someone's attention or when he really needs to go potty. He has been around dogs but gets a bit nervous with bigger dogs. Although we marked him as a border collie, because that is what his paperwork says, he is mixed with another breed, not sure what it is. Our family loves Oliver, we are just in a different season in life and our family situation has changed. Our schedules have gotten pretty busy and my daughter has gone off to college. We have tried everything we can but we are at a point where we feel like he needs to be with someone who can attend to him and give him the love and care that he deserves.

Story
Maizie is a ~4 month old puppy (as of 12/18/24) who arrived at LHS as a three week old baby after being handed to a woman by a stranger at a local Walmart. After the shock wore off, the woman who was given the puppy took her to the shelter for help. Maizie is a sweet girl who likes to play and nap. She loves to be petted, especially belly rubs, and is very affectionate. She likes to give gentle kisses to show her love. Maizie is a sun bather and is loving this fall weather combined with warm sunshine! Maizie is gentle and sweet tempered with a goofy puppy side too. She enjoys playing with her foster sisters in the yard and inside. We believe she would do well with other doggie friends or alone as she is equally comfortable alone as with the other dogs in the home. She is excellent at the game of fetch. Maizie loves a good, fuzzy, comfy bed, crinkle toys and chew toys! She’s potty trained and goes to the door to request to go out. She does well with the cats in her foster home but occasionally forgets her manners and wants to play a little chase. She takes correction from the cats well. Puppies at this age will require patience and training to become the best pup they can be.   Current weight 30 lbs Projected weight 60+ Crate training:  crate trained   We are requesting a donation of $325 for the adoption which includes her spay, three rounds of puppy vaccines, a rabies vaccine, microchip with registration, dewormer and a single dose of heartworm preventative. We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. If you're interested in meeting or adopting her, please complete an application on our website and someone will reach out to you within 48 hours.  https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/   Adopter will take the puppy to an LHS approved vet to be spayed in December of 2024 per the spay/neuter agreement and in accordance to Chapter 828, Texas Health and Safety Code.  *Due to the high volume of applications and inquires for puppies as well as vetting needs, we will not be able to respond to or consider interest from those outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.  We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Meet Pilgrim! This AH-DORABLE pup is ready to find his forever home. Pilgrim has very unique markings similar to a tuxedo cat. He has the cutest mustache! It adds character to his already fun personality. He's a very friendly, silly & playful puppy. He enjoys affection, but he squirms if you hold on to him too long - this little guy likes to go go go. He plays hard & sleeps hard! 🥰 He's not afraid of anything & he loves chew toys & bones. He loves hanging out with other dogs, people, & he's a good boy around the cats! He'll be med-lg when full grown. He's currently 14 weeks and has had first and second puppy shots. His coat is short and very soft.🩵 If you're considering adding a little fearless fun furry family member like Pilgrim, reach out to us! If not, please copy-paste-SHARE his post so he can find his forever family!💞 Thank you! Furever Home Pet Rescue bemyforeverhome.org 615-540-8448

Story
Let's Help Make His Wish Come True! Wishbone is an adorable male pup, most similar to his mother (Birdie) in size & markings. He'll be a medium size dog, sturdy but light. He was the smallest in his litter of four. His fur is turning out to be medium length. We believe there's border collie & cattle dog in their breed mix.. with a lot of cuteness sprinkled in! Wishbone was rescued at Thanksgiving along with his mama dog and littermates. He prefers to grab on to you like a rock climber when he is held, rather than melting in your arms or lap... but he will sit with you for hours.💛 He's not the most confident dog & will benefit from having a canine companion, as well as lots of attention from his humans. He does like to investigate new things. He's fast, agile, & smart! He's ABSOLUTELY PRECIOUS & so so sweet! He's good with cats too.❤️🐈‍⬛😊 Wishbone would love to find a forever home with at least one canine companion. LET'S TURN HIS WISH INTO REALITY. If he sounds like the right pup for your family, please reach out!🩵 Furever Home Pet Rescue bemyforeverhome.org 615-540-8448 🙏🩵please copy-paste-SHARE this post so we can help Wishbone find a loving home🩵 Thank you

Story
Duke has completed a long term training program and is now ready for the next chapter of his life. Duke was not treated well in the past and was pretty feral when we got him, but has come a long way in learning that humans can be nice. Duke is extremely cautious of new situations, people, & other dogs. It is my belief based on working with him for the past 2 years that Duke was completely feral & much less accepting of human interaction that originally believed. Once Duke gives you his trust, he is affectionate, playful, & fun to interact with. If pushed too hard, too fast, Duke will shut down temporarily & re-emerge when he is ready. Although Duke has no known bite history it is believed that if placed in an extremely stressful situation where he felt trapped, he would go into self-preservation defense mode, so he needs a very specific home. This sweet boy is extremely cautious with new people. Slow introductions & trust building helps him to willingly approach people he has been introduced to. Duke has exhibited same interest and disinterest to both men and women. No children under the age of 14yrs is recommended. He does not do well with younger high energy children. Duke has been dog selective. He has done best with female dogs but has accepted & played with male dogs that were established in the home when he arrived. Slow introductions strongly recommended. He has shown no prey drive including barn cats & chickens near but not easily accessible Duke has shown extremely limited interest in balls, stuffed toys, and chew toys but is an extremely athletic dog who can climb 6ft fencing. Smooth wood privacy fencing is required. Duke is 4 years old, neutered, current on immuizations and on preventatives. If you think this boy is a good fit for you and that you want to give him the life he deserves, please fill out the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
Hello, world! I am Duke and as you can see by my photo, I am a very dapper young 42 lb pupper. I currently live in North Texas and am around five years old; out of those five, I have been living with a professional trainer for four of those! So as you can imagine, I am a very good boy. Plus, I am UTD on all vaccines, preventatives, am neutered, chipped and am as healthy as can be. While I live on a fabulous property with excellent care, I long for my own home and own people. Right now, many dogs come and go from the trainers and while I love playing with most other doggies, especially female dogs, I would prefer a quiet space all to my own with my own people and doggie siblings. Although I really do not like the doodle dog that lives here at all, most dogs are cool! I LOVE my crate and will need a safe, clean crate where I can find respite and peace. You see, I do easily get scared of new people and experiences so I will need more time than other dogs to adjust. But let me tell you, if you are worthy of my love, you will be honored with being granted permission to pet my belly and I will even allow you to hug me. I don't even mind it if you touch my paws, nails, teeth, ears or if you groom me, either. While I like pretty much all people, don’t expect me to just give my trust to you on day one. I take my time. My past is part fame and part mystery. My trainer thinks I have some PTSD because she says she has to trick me by distracting me to put on my collar. I was too young to remember what horrors happened to me in my puppyhood but if you think you are going to just slip on a collar willy nilly, I may have to give you a warning nip. I do not like it. I also use a wire-coated leash because leashes are from Satan and should be destroyed; I think many dogs would agree with me there. But my trainer is happy to show you how to distract me with cheese to get it on. You have to be the sort of person who can follow directions. I also do not resource guard food but I will bark at barriers. Have you seen those videos of two dogs between fences making mean, scary faces but when the people open the gate, they are super polite and chill? Yeah, they got that idea from me–I mean, I am a shepherd, hello. I mentioned fame because when I was first found I made the news. Evidently I was running for days up and down the tarmac at the airport. But don’t worry, because I was smart enough to not get hit and I didn’t even delay a single flight! Despite being somewhat famous, I am also handsome. I love it when my people play “chase me.” I love to be chased. I also like it when my step dad wrestles with me. I am very gentle with my mouth. I am not really a ball or toy kinda fella so hey, save your money! I love to sunbathe and I am pretty lazy. If you are looking for a “hiking buddy” or a “brewery dog” I am not your Duke. I love to lay around and be near my people. In fact, I am pretty street smart and I allow strangers to calmly say hello. I like most people of all varieties but will do best in a home where I am not alone, and where there are no small children. I don't care about cats or chickens. If you are a squirrel though, game on! Basically, I am young but I like to think I am in an early retirement. I want to lounge mostly with some fun zoomie time occasionally. I am hoping someone with a female dog, no dog, or the right male dog will be interested in me just being around. I require a meet and greet if you have a dog. I dont require a lot of exercise but I like to be acknowledged so you should be home most of the day. I want to live inside, with a nice crate, be walked occasionally on my special leash, and if you have land, that's awesome too. If you have water that's even more wonderful as I love to swim and splash but that is not a deal breaker. I need someone who is patient. I have lived with a trainer for FOUR years and I am who I am at this point. You must be patient when you meet me and you must follow the trainer’s rules for leash, crate, and collar. So, is that someone you? Can YOU follow rules? If so, we may have a beautiful future together. If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application. I deserve my own home and humans to pamper me. Here is the link to the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to my new furever family.
