Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you are looking for a fun loving girl look no further. You have found her!!!  Abbie is part Border Collie and Part just plain adorable.   She is shy at first but once she warms up is a lover.    Abbie has terrific focus and  will learn very quickly.   She will be a loving companion to anyone needing a cuddle bud.   =========== Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . ADOPTION FEE:  The adoption fee includes vaccinations, bordetella, deworming, rabies, Microchip including a lifetime registration and spay/neuter.   PUPPIES   Texas State law requires that we sterilize any animal adopted through this agency.     This will normally occur between 5 and 6 months at one of our approved veterinarians at the expense of the rescue. Children under 8 years old  often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs.   In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children. Approval:  You will be notified via email once your application is approved.  Once notified, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our approved locations.   Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you. Story
Rachel - Border Collie/Lab mix - Female - 4.5 yrs - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Rachel: this gorgeous 4.5-year-old Border Collie Lab has returned to us as her needs and her families availability simply grew apart, like it happens sometimes. Rather than fitting a square peg into a round hole, it was determined that Rachel would be happier in a home that can more closely fit her needs. Rachel likes to have something to do, either playing with a toy or one of her dog friends or going for a walk. She seems to have a permanent smile on her face, and loves attention. She can be a little sneaky and will find unsecured garbage cans and unattended food - as she is very smart. She fine with relaxing with her pack after some playtime. Rachel is fine with most other dogs - she can be a little slow on picking up subtle social cues form other dogs ("I don't want to play right now" - "OK, how about now" 5 seconds later...) so tolerant dogs are the easiest fit, and while she is pretty easily corrected and redirect, you may have to repeat yourself a few times for her to believe you. She does want to please her humans and loves to cuddle. Rachel does not like to be left alone, and is looking for a home where someone is home a lot and can devote time and energy to her exercise, training and give her the attention and affection she craves. Some dogs handle changes easily, Rachel is not one of them, so an experienced and patience handler is preferred. Rachel would do best in a home with another dog or more than one, she loves kids, is house trained, but does not like to be alone and is not a fan of the crate. She can be crated and is currently crated, albeit in a rather high security crate. She is highly food motivated, which is great for training, is fine in the car, her leash training could use some fine tuning, but she is making great progress and has attended numerous group classes with her trainer with great success. ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet, as not all dogs come to all Meet and Greets***

Story
Oakley was recently returned to us after being rehomed. Based on their experience with him, he is a great companion but would thrive more in a home with a single individual with no kids or other animals at their home. If you do have visitors, he would just need to be isolated from them. Once Oakley picks you as his “person”, he becomes territorial. We have a toddler and do not feel comfortable with Oakley being around him. Our other dog and Oakley tolerate each other indoors but outdoors they have attacked one another on numerous occasions. Other than that, he is great when getting groomed and he has received great reviews from local Doggie Day Cares. No biting or dog fighting with either. He loves playing fetch, cuddling, and running through the yard. He is also house and kennel trained.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Do you love to cuddle? I am your gal!Did you see my adorable face?  I am a fun loving girl, who loves to crawl up on my foster mom's lap and cuddle. I play all day with my foster siblings. But if there is a spare lap, I am right there! Did someone say water? How about mud? I have discovered if I get dirty, mom gives me a bath! I love water and especially love it when mom scrubs me with great smelling bubbles and then rubs me dry with a big fluffy towel. I love water! Sometimes I sit in our empty puppy pool just begging mom to fill it up! I am an active dog and not suitable for an apartment, nor small children. I will need another dog in the house to keep me happy.  I am protective of my people, so  proper introductions need to happen to anyone new. AARFhouston.org/forms My litter mates and I were orphaned at two weeks old after our mother died. I love to play with my siblings and foster moms dogs! I would love to have an older sibling in my new home to play with and teach me how to be a well mannered pup! I should be around 30-45 pounds when full grown.  My adoption fee includes four rounds of shots, rabies shots, neuter and microchip (at a regular vet all of these services would cost over $500!)  ========================================================= Please contact app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.I am Super smart, fun loving guy who would love to have an active family. I am not an apartment guy! I need to run.Bethoven says: I would make you the happiest family EVER!  I'm super cute, and super happy and super cuddly! I have lots of energy for walks or runs or playing with the hose in the backyard (its like my most favoritest thing).    I would make the most bestest dog brother EVER!  I love to instigate play and would be your bestiest friend! (like 4-ever). You'll never find a better dog brother than I would be! I'm kind of a big boy, and apparently I'm a bit 'oral' Whatever that means *sheesh*. I DON'T bite, NO WAY!  But I've got a lot of puppy still, or so they say... so I like to put my mouth on things, especially when I'm playing.   I really want to find my forever home, my first family really loved me, but had to give me up because my first momma needed to get out of bad situation and the shelter didn't allow me to come.   I'm just know I'll be the bestest dog you've ever had!   aarfhouston.org/forms for an application    Please contact app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog.
