The perfect home for Cody would be one that has outdoor space for him to enjoy with an active family that will enjoy being with him. We are not sure how he will do with young kids under 5, but older kids we anticipate will be a great energy match for him. Same for cats... we are not sure if he has been exposed to cats either. Right now Cody is fostered in a multi dog home. Cody is making friends with other dogs. Lola is the sweetest girl. Very mild tempered and eager to please. Gets along with small dogs and girl dogs. Might be a bit feisty around boy dogs. Plays well with children, and she loves all people. She is so smart and easy to train. Very well behaved. She loves a good walk, dog park visit but is also very happy to just follow you around the house! She does think she’s only 5lbs so she will sit on you at her earliest convenience. She is not very loud, only barks to notify you of a new presence. She is great at fetch! She will drop the toys right in your hand so you will know when she is ready to play. She knows “where is your ball” as a command to go and get it whenever she gets distracted mid game. Potty trained, Crate trained, good with car rides.

When my foster family first said yes to me, they had zero clue just how sick I really was, because I showed as little as possible that side of me. And showed them nothing but the happy, grateful, playful side of me. If that gives you any idea of how laid back temperament wise I am. Ideally I would love to find an active family or adult who will give me endless car rides if they like, or all the cuddles and wiggly butt smiles they can take, or what ever adventure they may have in mind.I do have a lot of energy, but if you aren’t as energetic that is okay too! Nutmeg is approximately 4 years old and is a red heeler mix. He is always happy and gets along with other dogs and currently lives in a household with a cat. He is moderately playful and willing to follow other dogs leads. Because of his herding instinct he does nip at strangers that come on his turf. We aren't sure how he is with small children but believe he will do well with older ones. Nutmeg is housetrained, neutered and current on his vaccines. He doesn't like being in a crate so is loose in the house or outside. We feel he would be fine in a one dog family providing his human(s) has the desire and plenty of time to spend with him. A home visit is part of his adoption process so he is available for adoption in the immediate DFW area only.
