She is a GORGEOUS Border Collie/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix or Tri-Colored Rhodesian Ridgeback. Her personality is true to her breed! Xena's foster mom and dad have 3 other dogs that she likes to play with and share toys with, but she has also learned to be by herself. Her foster mom says she needs an active family with another dog or multiple dogs. Xena needs room to run to get her energy out. She likes going for long walks and exploring the wilderness. Xena sleeps with her foster mom and dad in bed with all the other dogs. It gets a bit crowded but she does love sleeping with the pack. This makes her feel safe. Xena does not like to be in a kennel or crate. So, a family that is at home would be ideal.She likes eating ice cubes! Xena says 'When mom gives me fresh water in a bowl she puts in extra ice cubes for me. That makes me feel special and loved.' Xena loves riding in a vehicle and knows not to jump around and act like a baby.She can walk on a leash pretty well as long as she has her harness on; Xena is not a fan of collars. She also knows a few commands like “stay”, “no” and “potty”.Xena will bark at strangers until she gets to know them. Her foster dad has taught her to fetch. She loves chasing the ball and bringing it back, it’s the letting it go part that she has a hard time with BECAUSE she also loves to play tug of war. Xena is also a fan of the Laser Light. She thinks they are fascinating!Xena is Special Needs because if and when she gets too excited she has seizures. The vet attributes this to a blow to the head as a puppy. Meet Pesto!! This gorgeous boy was rescued as a stray a couple years ago and moved to MA to be adopted. Unfortunately, once a baby joined the family, Pesto needed a new place to go. So he hit the road and is now back in his home town of Houston. He's a friendly guy who loves treats and getting attention. He wakes up with his big smile everyday. He's currently in boarding, so he's working on his leash skills while there. He's really excited at the beginning of his walking adventure and may pull some, but settles in nicely. Pesto is listed at about 3.5 years but we think he could be a bit older. He weighs about 55lbs. Pesto does have longer hair so that requires a bit of beauty maintenance. We think Pesto would be best in an adult only home. He tends to get mats on his tail if not properly cared for, and this makes his rear end very sensitive. He can get upset if you try to touch him there when he has a mat. If you would like to meet Pesto, please reach out! Mikka is a 40 lbs, spunky Border Collie mix. This girl is really loving life. She is a very sweet girl, but is still uncertain about a lot of things so she needs people that will help her learn and feel secure in the world. She enjoys meeting new people, going on car rides, and LOVES spending time outdoors. She is young with a lot of energy and needs positive training. Mikka is very smart and catches on to new things quickly. She knows sit and down, but we’re still working on stay and her leash walking is coming along really well. She does well with other dogs that can handle her energy, but does require slow introductions, she would love to have a playmate. She needs an active family that will keep both her mind and body stimulated. She is slowly learning to be a great cuddler. Mikka is a very sweet girl and would be a great companion, she will love you with all her heart. She has a lot of herding instincts and would be great for working/sports/competition.
