Carlton is ready to find his forever person. This sweet pup (12 - 13 years old) was adopted in 2021 by a loving man who is now, unfortunately, physically unable to care for him properly. They miss each other deeply. Carlton is the literal definition of a couch potato. His only purpose is to admire his human, play tug of war, and chase cats (no cats please). Carlton is great with people and other dogs. He does have some trepidation about my tiny seniors, but gives them the right of way in an apparent show of respect. He is neutered and UTD, house broken, and dog gone adorable. In November he had a needle aspiration biopsy for a lump on his chest. It was determined that it was a lipoma (fatty benign tumor). He's absolutely fine. Did I mention he's a couch potato? Aurora came to us on one of the coldest, snowiest days of the year. Her previous owners informed us that she lived outside on a chain her whole life. The pictures we received of her standing in the snow were enough for us; we knew this girl deserved more! Since Aurora joined the AHHS, we have discovered what a loving, happy dog this is! She is joyful and friendly to every dog, cat, and human that crosses her path. Yes, she's considered a senior, but don't let that fool you! She's got quite a lot of energy and LOVES playing outdoors! Atlas is just over a year old, born completely deaf! He's up to date on all shots and was just neutered a couple months ago. He is crate trained and knows "sit" and "come here" in ASL. He has lived with cats and dogs (and does currently) and has had no issues. We love Atlas, but unfortunately need to rehome him because we discovered that our cat is absolutely terrified of larger dogs. We tried to make it work, but our animals just aren't compatible. We feel awful, because Atlas hasn't done anything to make the cat scared of him. He NEEDS someone who has the time, money, and energy to train a deaf dog. The only issue we've had with him is that he is aggressive towards the vet. No one else at the vet's office, never other animals, just specifically the vet themself. He also sometimes freaks out if a stranger surprises him, due to being deaf. He comes with his vet paperwork, a heavy duty leash/harness, collar, crate, etc.
