Snickers was at risk of being put down after her last litter and made her way from PA to NY where she is currently in foster with other dogs, of all sizes. She is demure and, rather, prefers to attach herself to a human. She is housebroken and doesn't mind her crate. As timid as she is, she is still a Border Collie and will need a home that understands her breed. She is a very smart dog and will need to have her mind engaged. Just a year old herself at the time, she was just terrified and starting having puppies on the shelter floor. We needed to act quickly! Fast Fiona had 8 pups, 7 survived. Fiona was the BEST momma to all those giant puppies, even though she was just a baby herself. She has raised all her pups and has been in foster, decompressing from her previous life! She is such an amazing dog! She bonds quickly and deeply to her person, she's a Velcro dog, she just wants to be where you are. She likes other dogs, but doesn't necessarily require another dog. She is good with people, kids, other animals. However she was one of those ' kids having kids' so she still very puppy like herself. She is housebroken and very well behaved! She is Very attached to her foster family, and she is a deeply emotional dog. She is one in a million! You wouldn't know it looking at this bouncy fetch-aholic now, but Jeffrey was nearly skin and bones when he was first brought into the shelter we pulled him from. With a healthy diet, steady wellness plan and some guidance from the vet Jeff grew into the healthy boy you see today! A border collie mix with incredible focus, a strong intellect and an active athleticism, there is no doubt Jeff is gifted with the traits of his working dog roots. At the same time, this boy has a silly side that will have you giggling in no time! When his work is done Jeffery engages with his people, letting them know just how happy he is to be with them with his wiggly behind and his cartoonishly long tongue. Jeff gets along well with his canine companions, though maybe not as much as his off-the-charts adoration of his people. He typically tends to like more playful lighthearted dogs, especially younger females! He can typically be found romping around in the heat of the action when in a group for play, but don't be mistaken, Jeffery is ready at a moment's notice to drop everything for a round of fetch or a chance to learn something new. After being given time and space to assess the situation, Jeff is more willing to engage in some "get to know" time with treat exchange or an offering of a ball toss particularly if it squeaks and will loosen up. He has proven to be able to quickly build trust with new people given the appropriate approach. Because of Jeff's insecurities, we recommend he goes to a home with children 14 and up and no cats please. He would be a perfect match for someone who loves to play fetch.. a lot and enjoys hikes.
