Story
Mario is a border collie mix and came to the shelter in June as a stray. We think he`s about seven years old, and he weighs about forty-three pounds. He`s timid at first, but given time, patience, and a few treats, and he warms up. He`s very food-motivated and loves his treats and kongs. He`s patient in the bath and in the car. He also knows sit and down. We think he would do well in a home with respectful kids, twelve and up.

Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)         Age :2Sex: female Weight: 20 lbs aprox Spayed: yesVaccines: yes up to dateGood with dogs: yesGood with cats: yesHouse broken: yes Medical issues: broken leg (repaired)TVT tumor (treated)Blind Trischa rescue story: Trischa was brought to our attention by a local. We fell in love with her adorable face, we decided to help find her a loving home. However, we had no idea what challenges lay ahead. Initially, we thought all she needed was a spay, but this marked the beginning of a rescue journey filled with unexpected surprises. When Trischa arrived, we discovered she had a TVT tumor, so we promptly enrolled her in chemotherapy at the vet clinic. This treatment lasted a month. During her time there, we noticed she walked slowly and seemed hesitant, which the vet attributed to the side effects of her chemotherapy. After she recovered from the TVT, we decided to have her leg examined, only to find out it had been broken for months and hidden beneath her long furAfter returning to the clinic for leg repair, Trischa  spent several more weeks recovering. Finally, she was able to go home with a foster. However, this was where we encountered our third surprise: Trischa displayed some unusual behaviors. She wouldn’t eat around other dogs, was easily startled, and often bumped into things. We suspected that one of her eyes might be impaired. A visit back to the clinic confirmed our fears—one eye was completely blind, and the other only had 20 percent visionIt’s truly heartbreaking to realize that this little girl spent her life on the streets, struggling to survive against larger dogs, all while being blind, having a broken leg, and dealing with a TVT tumor. About Trischa.  We name her after blind Olympian Trischa Zorn Trischa is an incredibly sweet and dainty little girl. Although she may initially seem a bit timid, she quickly warms up to those around her. At first, we thought this was just part of her personality, but after discovering that she is blind, we realized her shyness stems from her inability to see and her confusion in new surroundings. Once she becomes familiar with her environment, she feels relaxed and at ease.Trischa enjoys playing with other friendly dogs, but it's best to feed her alone and away from them, as she cannot see their body language. She walks well on a leash and loves to snuggle on the couch for cuddles. It might take her a few days to adjust to a new home, but she does have 20 percent vision in one eye, which helps her somewhat—though she still occasionally bumps into things. She’s a wonderful dog who just needs a little time to adapt, but I assure you, she will settle in beautifully.         All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Sweet, well-behaved, and energetic collie mix in need of a new home! Great with kids and learning boundaries with cats. This new home will ideally have him as the only dog, although a friend could be fun with proper introduction. It will also have a big yard and a family that enjoys an active lifestyle!
