Story
Wonderful 6 month old border collie. Black and white tuxedo short hair coat. House broken. Great with kids and not at all food aggressive. You can take any thing away from him. Veterinarian says not a thing wrong with him. He is on Hills biome prescription dry food for soft stool. On it stool is excellent. Blue is a velcro dog inside. Blue goes to the dog park daily and plays with other dogs people. He loved bye all. Blue can eat many kinds of treats. Blue needs a fenced yard to burn off all that energy. Or maybe even a farm.

Bella is  gorgeous Border Collie Mix...if you know the breed, you know they are smart, energetic, and love a job!  Perfect agility course dogs, long hikes, throwing the ball in a great fenced in yard!  Bella needs her exercise, she loves to play and she doesn't mind entertaining herself with a toy or ball either.  She is extremely smart and learns quickly, so training, consistency and even agility would go a long way for this amazing girl.. Just turned 3 years old, weighing in at 34lbs, Bella is a young dog ready to love her person(s).  All she needs is time, patience and a chance to bond with you....and she will!!!  Then Bella is your best friend and companion forever.  Best for this little lady is no other dogs in the home, cats or children.  She is not aggressive at all, this is to make her transition to her new person the most successful. Bella is located at Paws Crossed Animal Rescue in Elmsford, NY.... she may need a few visits to get to know you, but she is so worth the time and effort on your part.  She will be the most dedicated companion.  Please go to pawscrossedny.org to fill out an application for Bella....then go meet her, but give her the chance she needs to show you just how wonderful she is. ##1811235##

Story
COMING SOON IN TORRINGTON! Hi there! I’m Ryder. I am five (I think), 36 pounds of handsome, and I am a Border Collie mix. I’ve had all my shots and had that surgery on my unmentionables. Foster Mama says that like most Border Collies, I’m “a little intense.” I LOVE playing fetch. I mean, I LOVE playing fetch. I’ll fetch tennis balls, but my absolute favorite is a little squeaky football Foster Mama got me. My best quality is that I am very affectionate with people I like and trust. I love to be pet and to sit with and lean on my favorite people. I also give kisses and just want to be near you but I also like to explore. I will keep your yard bird free, cuz next to playing fetch with my football, chasing birds (and butterflies, leaves, air) is what I love best. Like most Border Collies, I am very sensitive to things that move or things that have changed. I have a routine for every time I go outside. I potty in pretty much the same place every time. I’m also a very fast learner and had the routine at my foster home down after one day. Once I figure out what you want me to do, I get it in a snap. I am on my best behavior in a crate. I don’t chew up my bed. Toys: Like I said, balls and anything I can fetch are my absolute favorite. I haven’t destroyed my plushies, but they’re just not my thing. I also don’t really care about the chew toys Foster Mama gave me. Sometimes I get really excited about my squeaky ball and I can get a bit grabby and jumpy when you try and take it from me, but I’m trying to remember to be good. Treats: I can be slow to eat when I’m nervous, but I love treats. Mama gives me these jerky treats I really love, and I also love pill pockets. Don’t know why they call them that, but maybe I eat them so fast I don’t even notice the pills in the pockets. They’re peanut butter flavored – YUM. Things you should understand about me: You should probably be experienced with / understand Border Collies if you’re going to adopt me. Foster Mama says I am not a first dog kind of guy, and I’m not the couch potato type. If you want a dog you can play with though, I’m your guy! I lived with kids, but am probably better with older kids since I can get a little grabby when I’m not paying attention. I am slow to trust strangers (although some people I like right away). If you have a lot of people come to visit you in your house, I may not be the best fit, or you’ll want to be comfortable with proper introductions for dogs like me that take some time to warm up to strangers. I don’t like it when there’s a fence between me and something I’m interested in, so I can bark and seem mean sometimes. And I love exercise. Foster Mama says that I should probably live somewhere that can give me at least an hour of exercise every day – fetch, or training, or frisbee, or something that gives me a job. Foster Mama and I play fetch about three times a day. I like being busy. If I get regular activity, I am really well behaved. Foster Mama is “housetraining” me to get used to pottying outside (I used to live in the city and use potty pads inside the home). So far I have not made one mistake! I am very sensitive to anything that changes. I have lots of zoomie moments and love to do laps around the yard when I’m outside. A fenced yard is probably best for me so I can get my zoomies out and not get into trouble with cars and people and pets going by. Mama says she’s still learning about me, and I’m going to have some sort of “test” to see if I can get along with other dogs. I hope it’s not written, because I can’t read or write. Foster Mama says that because I like chasing birds so much, I’m probably better off at a home where there aren’t other small animals like cats. I can’t help it – it’s fun to chase the birds and butterflies and watch them fly away. I have only been in foster care for a week, so it’s probably going to be another couple of weeks before I am available for my new furever family, but if you’re interested in learning more about me, please fill out the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to my new furever family.

Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)         Age :2Sex: female Weight: 20 lbs aprox Spayed: yesVaccines: yes up to dateGood with dogs: yesGood with cats: yesHouse broken: yes Medical issues: broken leg (repaired)TVT tumor (treated)Blind Trischa rescue story: Trischa was brought to our attention by a local. We fell in love with her adorable face, we decided to help find her a loving home. However, we had no idea what challenges lay ahead. Initially, we thought all she needed was a spay, but this marked the beginning of a rescue journey filled with unexpected surprises. When Trischa arrived, we discovered she had a TVT tumor, so we promptly enrolled her in chemotherapy at the vet clinic. This treatment lasted a month. During her time there, we noticed she walked slowly and seemed hesitant, which the vet attributed to the side effects of her chemotherapy. After she recovered from the TVT, we decided to have her leg examined, only to find out it had been broken for months and hidden beneath her long furAfter returning to the clinic for leg repair, Trischa  spent several more weeks recovering. Finally, she was able to go home with a foster. However, this was where we encountered our third surprise: Trischa displayed some unusual behaviors. She wouldn’t eat around other dogs, was easily startled, and often bumped into things. We suspected that one of her eyes might be impaired. A visit back to the clinic confirmed our fears—one eye was completely blind, and the other only had 20 percent visionIt’s truly heartbreaking to realize that this little girl spent her life on the streets, struggling to survive against larger dogs, all while being blind, having a broken leg, and dealing with a TVT tumor. About Trischa.  We name her after blind Olympian Trischa Zorn Trischa is an incredibly sweet and dainty little girl. Although she may initially seem a bit timid, she quickly warms up to those around her. At first, we thought this was just part of her personality, but after discovering that she is blind, we realized her shyness stems from her inability to see and her confusion in new surroundings. Once she becomes familiar with her environment, she feels relaxed and at ease.Trischa enjoys playing with other friendly dogs, but it's best to feed her alone and away from them, as she cannot see their body language. She walks well on a leash and loves to snuggle on the couch for cuddles. It might take her a few days to adjust to a new home, but she does have 20 percent vision in one eye, which helps her somewhat—though she still occasionally bumps into things. She’s a wonderful dog who just needs a little time to adapt, but I assure you, she will settle in beautifully.         All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.
