Story
Chappell is a 1-year-old, 68 lb Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix who’s ready to find her forever home! She came to us shy, uncertain, and struggling with separation anxiety after spending her early life in a yard with multiple dogs and little socialization. But with time, patience, and love, Chappell has blossomed into an incredibly sweet, playful, and caring companion. What Chappell Loves: • Running around the backyard with her foster siblings • Snuggling up to watch TV after a fun day of play • Collecting her “treasures” (toys and blankets) and arranging them in her kennel to sleep on Chappell’s Progress: • Her separation anxiety is a thing of the past! • She’s comfortable in her kennel, which she considers her “safe space.” • She’s learning leash skills and doing great! • She’s medium-energy, blending playfulness with moments of calm. Great with Others: Chappell gets along wonderfully with other dogs, is curious about cats, and adores kids. Her gentle, silly personality shines once she’s had a little time to warm up. The Perfect Home: Chappell would thrive with a family who can provide her with love, consistency, and maybe even a few snuggle buddies. She’s smart, eager to learn, and ready to bond with her forever family. If you’re looking for a loyal and goofy companion to brighten your days, Chappell might just be the perfect fit. Give this sweet girl the warm bed and loving home she deserves.

Waco is a good dog that we provided a rehome to several years ago. He is 8 years old and good natured. We have recently moved to an apartment complex and this is not a good fit for him. Waco is not terribly high maintenance for most of the day but he has a schedule and lets you know when it’s time to go out or eat. He has been great with our family, friends, and kids. He ha a beautiful white coat and sheds. He is reactive to squirrels and cars.

Story
This handsome boys name is Max! Max is a two-year-old Border Collie mix who had a rough start at life. He is mostly blind and had cataract surgery over the summer. Unfortunately post-surgery during a re-check of his eyes he is shown to have progressive retinal atrophy, which means his eyesight will continue to worsen, and once totally blind, he will need both eyes removed to eliminate the possibility of glaucoma. He is well adjusted to being blind, but has unfortunately shown reactivity to strangers, both human and animals. He is an intelligent dog with good food motivation and we are hoping in the right home he will be able to be worked with to reduce his issues with strangers. Ideally he should go to someone with a fenced in yard as he loves to play fetch and wrestle with his toys. Once he is comfortable with someone he does remember them and becomes a big, playful sweetheart. He is also excellent for his multiple daily eye medications. In the right home this boy shows promise to make someone a wonderful companion! Please visit the following link on our website to learn about Second Chance's adoption process. http://www.2ndchanceanimalcenter.org/adoption.html October 25, 2024, 12:10 pm
