Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ZAANA was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. She along with her 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 ZAANA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 18 November 2021 and at the time of transport weighed around 30 pounds. The group believe that Zaana could be a Japanese Spitz mix, but we have no way of knowing for sure. ZAANA is the girl for you if you are looking for a gentle, sweet, super affectionate girl. She has settled in well after her long, scary trip from Oman and enjoys when I am in the kennels giving her lots of love and fuss. She will put her paw on my arm or shoulder so that I can scratch the spots she likes and I think it is also her way of wanting to connect. She is a beautiful girl who does have a medium length coat, so grooming is a consideration to be taken into account as if coats are not brushed, they can matt very easily which is not healthy and painful for the dogs. She is an active girl and will need a family that will take her on lots of adventures and give her the lifestyle that she needs and deserves to thrive. ZAANA can be dog selective and so she would be best in a home with no other dogs, so as to not cause any un-needed stress or concerns. Then over time she can get to meet other dogs and see who she likes to have as her friends so she can play and chase and have some doggy-fun. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel    and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Zaana is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $300. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. Story
Meet Charlotte, a 2-year-old Border Collie/ German Shepherd mix who is originally from Jordan. Charlotte was rescued off of the streets of Jordan and spent time being cared for by her rescuers. She is a loving dog who knows her commands. She loves taking walks and is great on a leash, but can bark at dogs that are passing by. We are currently addressing through training sessions that we hope to continue with her adoptive family. She loves cuddling on your lap and playing outside. She is good with adults, but needs a patient approach with some men. She can get the zoomies so adults need to keep her calm and controlled around young children. She should be the only dog in a home. Due to her sensitive nature, she may get nervous and guarded in new environments, but once she warms up she is a dream! Charlotte needs a home with an active lifestyle. If you are a jogger or runner, Charlotte would love to accompany you on your journeys. She would also thrive in activities like agility training. Charlotte needs a loving and patient home with someone with a calm demeanor to help her acclimate to her new environment. Will you give her a chance?

Story
My name is Leon. I am finding myself in need of a new home. It's sad because my person loves me so much but sometimes life takes us in a different direction. I am a 75 lb, 3.5 year old Border Collie/Hound/Something tall mix :). I am so so loyal to my owner and I am a great listener, respectful and overall a catch. I am good with dogs and go to daycare twice a week so I can play and release some energy and just have fun. I have mostly been with the medium to larger dogs. I am good on leash and really love when I walk with my human. I am trustworthy while my human is at work and I just chill out! I am a little nervous when visitors come over. We don't have a lot of visitors but I will kind of hide and maybe bark. After a few minutes, I can settle in and do just fine. I might not be GREAT in a home if it's party time all the time, that might make me nervous! But some visitors and company, well of course! I have not really been exposed to cats and younger kids. I would love for you to consider me... I am beautiful and overall a great great companion. https://asecondchanceforziva.org/adopt/adoption-process-application/

Story
Are you looking for a playful, energetic, gentle and loving companion? Look no further! Know is a 1.5 year old mixed breed weighing in around 50 lbs. Knox loves to play and is always ready for a game of fetch or tug of war. He loves exploring the great outdoors with his humans by his side, followed by a cozy cuddle on the couch to relax at the end of the day. He's a shining star when it comes to leash manners making strolls through the neighborhood a pleasure. He's a quick learner and is incredibly adaptable and confident despite his hearing loss. He knows several hand signal commands including sit, stay, come, crate, shake a paw, down, etc. He came from a home where he was spending long hours in a crate with medication. He's now working towards crate training without meds and is building his comfort level and amount of time he's able to spend in the crate at a time. Knox would thrive in a home where he can have a fenced backyard to run and play, as well as someone who is home regularly to help him continue to work on crate training. He loves kids and would do well with older kids that would be less likely to startle him from behind. He likes playing with other dogs, though may be best in a home where he is able to get your undivided love and attention. In return he promises to be a devoted and affectionate companion who will bring endless joy to your life. Knox is currently being fostered in Jackson, NJ. His adoption fee is $425. To adopt this pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Buffalo! Buffalo is a three month old, approximately 15 pound, sweet-as-can-be Border Collie mix puppy looking for his forever family! Buffalo is a very smart, energetic boy who is taking well to training and is quickly learning commands. As a Border Collie mix, he would benefit from a family that is familiar with the breed. Buffalo would thrive in a home that can focus his energy and provides mental stimulation along with the sweet love that every pup deserves. Buffalo is 90% housetrained, and knows basic Sit/Stay/Come commands. He loves the outdoors, and would love a home with a friendly canine companion! Though he's currently being crate trained, Buffalo adores puppy-snuggles at the end of his busy day. Are you the forever home for this silly, lovable guy? Buffalo is currently being fostered in Long Valley, NJ. His adoption fee is $500. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. CHIP was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024. CHIP is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. He has an estimated date of birth of 26 March 2023 and in April 2024 weighed 28 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. CHIP is adorable, smart, high energy, loving, affectionate, fun, goofy and did I mention high energy? He shares a kennel with two dogs that came from Oman and has been great in helping them adapt and has been teaching them how to play, wrestle and enjoy toys - something they had not experienced before. Chip is true to his breed in that he can be a little mouthy and he does like to let you know how he is feeling when you are not paying him the attention he deserves and thinks he needs lol. Chip needs an active family and one that understands the breed and that they are a herding breed, they can get nippy if they are not taught to not do that. He is super smart, a lot of fun and will learn quick and will be the best companion to the right family. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel    and    photo albums on our Facebook page    to see a LOT of pictures and videos.
