Story
Meet Lila, Lila is a sweet and affectionate collie mix, she can be shy at first but warms up quickly, she can be a little weary of quick movements, but loves to lounge on the couch with her Nylabone. Lila is a collie mix and does have a high prey drive when playing. She would love a doggy friend more her size. Lila loves to go swimming and play in a plastic kiddie pool. She is crate and leash trained. Could make an active person a great running partner. Although Lila resides in the state of Georgia, she would be happy to make the trip up north to find her forever home.

Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)         Age :2Sex: female Weight: 20 lbs aprox Spayed: yesVaccines: yes up to dateGood with dogs: yesGood with cats: yesHouse broken: yes Medical issues: broken leg (repaired)TVT tumor (treated)Blind Trischa rescue story: Trischa was brought to our attention by a local. We fell in love with her adorable face, we decided to help find her a loving home. However, we had no idea what challenges lay ahead. Initially, we thought all she needed was a spay, but this marked the beginning of a rescue journey filled with unexpected surprises. When Trischa arrived, we discovered she had a TVT tumor, so we promptly enrolled her in chemotherapy at the vet clinic. This treatment lasted a month. During her time there, we noticed she walked slowly and seemed hesitant, which the vet attributed to the side effects of her chemotherapy. After she recovered from the TVT, we decided to have her leg examined, only to find out it had been broken for months and hidden beneath her long furAfter returning to the clinic for leg repair, Trischa  spent several more weeks recovering. Finally, she was able to go home with a foster. However, this was where we encountered our third surprise: Trischa displayed some unusual behaviors. She wouldn’t eat around other dogs, was easily startled, and often bumped into things. We suspected that one of her eyes might be impaired. A visit back to the clinic confirmed our fears—one eye was completely blind, and the other only had 20 percent visionIt’s truly heartbreaking to realize that this little girl spent her life on the streets, struggling to survive against larger dogs, all while being blind, having a broken leg, and dealing with a TVT tumor. About Trischa.  We name her after blind Olympian Trischa Zorn Trischa is an incredibly sweet and dainty little girl. Although she may initially seem a bit timid, she quickly warms up to those around her. At first, we thought this was just part of her personality, but after discovering that she is blind, we realized her shyness stems from her inability to see and her confusion in new surroundings. Once she becomes familiar with her environment, she feels relaxed and at ease.Trischa enjoys playing with other friendly dogs, but it's best to feed her alone and away from them, as she cannot see their body language. She walks well on a leash and loves to snuggle on the couch for cuddles. It might take her a few days to adjust to a new home, but she does have 20 percent vision in one eye, which helps her somewhat—though she still occasionally bumps into things. She’s a wonderful dog who just needs a little time to adapt, but I assure you, she will settle in beautifully.         All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Story
Meet Eliza! This young adult petite border collie mix is looking for a special person to continue her training and socialization. She is very fearful and distrustful of people until she bonds, but once she trusts is a fun high energy walking, hiking and jogging companion with her chosen buddy. She's fearful and avoids other dogs and is looking for a calmer experienced adult home with just one person she can bond to and protect. She loves to catch frisbees and play fetch and is a dog who needs a "job" to keep her mind busy and give her an appropriate outlet for her energy... no couch potatoes for this dog! Eliza is about 35lbs full grown and has the intelligence and energy of a border collie, with a bit more of the independent attitude of a shiba or spitz type breed. *Multiple meets required* Please submit an application for an appointment to meet her Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Age: 5yrs 3mths 0wks

Story
Brains, beauty, and loyalty in one package- That's our survivor Hannah! This compact 8 year old came to us as a pup originally after being hit by a car and left for dead with a fractured leg and pelvis. After a complicated surgery and rehab she made a full recovery and is an active healthy girl. Sadly due to changes in her adopters' living situation she is back at the shelter after years in a loving home, and she's very unhappy about it:/Hannah is a bit nervous and untrusting with new people, but after proper introductions and some yummy treats to win her over her sweet side shines through. She's very in tune to her people and their moods, and once you are in her circle of friends her loyalty and devotion is unmatched. She hasn't been socialized with other dogs and reacts when she sees them at a distance on leash, and a home where she can be the only pet and in a quieter low traffic living arrangement would be best for her. She knows her commands, is housebroken and well mannered in the house, and is about 50lbs full grown. We think she's border collie or cattle dog mixed with pittie, and she has the intelligence, energy, and playfulness of all 3 rolled into one little dog. Adults only please, she hasn't been around kids and they would frighten her. Please help Hannah find her perfect home and submit an application today for an appointment to meet her Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 58 Age: 8yrs 5mths 4wks

Story
Meet Bada🩵 (It means sea in Korean) In late June 2022, Bada arrived at the shelter with a fractured front leg. In the sweltering heat, flies swarmed around his bandaged wound, which had become infected. After being rescued, it was discovered that his bone had healed improperly, requiring corrective surgery. Now fully recovered, Bada is healthy and energetic, leaping and running with joy. 😊 With People: Bada loves people and quickly warms up to them. While he may need a little time to get comfortable initially, he soon becomes playful, even jumping excitedly to greet you. Treats help speed up the bonding process! He enjoys being petted and eagerly stands on his hind legs to welcome familiar faces. However, when he’s overly excited, he may run off playfully when approached for pets. With Dogs: Bada enjoys the company of other dogs and plays well with those who match his energy. However, his excitement level can be high during play, and disagreements may arise if his playmates aren’t receptive. He would do best with a similarly energetic dog or as the only dog in the home. Separation Anxiety: Currently unknown, as he resides in the shelter. Potty Training: Fully trained for outdoor pottying. Grooming and Hygiene: He is initially wary of brushing but tolerates it well with gentle handling. He allows ear cleaning without fuss and doesn’t engage in destructive behaviors. While he isn’t a fan of nail trims, he cooperates one paw at a time. Walking and Outdoor Behavior: Bada loves walks! While he doesn’t pull excessively on the leash, his large size means he exerts natural strength when moving. Car Sickness: Rides comfortably in the car without any signs of motion sickness. 💌Special Notes💌 Training: Bada has mastered the commands “sit” and “shake.” Play Habits: He loves playing fetch and is great at bringing the ball back for more!

Story
Meet Rown🖤 He was found on the street. He had swallowed stones and screws, requiring emergency surgery. He also had an injury on his leg from his difficult life on the streets, but after surgery, he’s now in recovery. * With People: Loves people so much! Despite having a hard time in the past with accidents and struggles, he is endlessly affectionate and loves being around people. * With Dogs: Is full of energy and enjoys playing with other dogs. Is very playful and always approaches first to initiate play. * With Cats: Is curious and always watches them when they pass by. * Separation Anxiety: Currently resides with other dogs at the shelter, so it’s hard to determine. Shows mild signs of separation anxiety when alone. * Potty Training: Is well-trained to go potty both indoors and outdoors. * Hygiene: Is still getting used to baths. Resists at first but cooperates once he’s in the bath. Is also good with drying, brushing, and nail trimming, though he might try to run initially but stays calm during the process. * Walks: Loves walks so much that he sometimes pulls on the leash when he gets excited, but it’s not severe and can be managed easily. * Car Sickness: Rides well without any signs of motion sickness. * Has mastered several commands such as “sit” and “paw ” about 80% of the time. * Sometimes barks at external noises or in excitement when greeting people because he loves them so much. ** Health Condition : Recovering from ankle surgery; he’s walking better but may need ongoing rehabilitation.
