Story
Hi, I'm Daize. I'm a 1 year old Border Collie mix. My foster says I'm a sweet girl and do really well at their house. I'd love a home where I can love my humans, play, and feel safe! I'm a little shy at first but warm up easily. I just need someone who is willing to give me the time and patience that it takes for me to adjust to a new home.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2184922##

Story
Hi there, I'm Klover! I'm still young and full of life, always ready for a game of fetch or a long walk. I've got energy to spare, but don't worry, I'm smart too! I learn new tricks quickly and I'm always eager to please. I'm also really friendly. I love meeting new people and I get along well with other dogs. Playtime is my favorite, whether it's a game of tug-of-war or just running around. But after a day of fun, I love nothing more than cuddling up for a good night's sleep. So why should you adopt me? Well, besides my sweet nature and playful spirit, I promise to be your loyal companion, your best friend, and the best part of your day, every day. I can't wait to meet you! Story
Hi there, I'm Brody. I'm a handsome young boy just under a year. I was found as a stray so the shelter doesn't know much about me prior to here. I'm sweet and take a little bit to warm up to people. Once I get to know you I am the sweetest boy who loves to cuddle and go for walks. Give me your time and patience and I promise I'll be worth it! Story
**Meet Marvel**He’s a 1 year old, 35 pound Australian shepherd/Cattle dog mix.Marvel is a sweet, sensitive boy who’s had a tough transition. He lived with his first and only owner until she had to move in with her son, who wouldn’t allow Marvel to come along. Now, the rescue environment is a bit overwhelming for him. He’s a submissive and gentle soul who gets along well with other dogs, but he’s still nervous as he adjusts. Marvel would thrive in a calm, loving home where he can feel safe and start to relax. If you're looking for a loyal companion, Marvel is ready to steal your heart!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.November 4, 2024, 11:33 am

Story
We did Brownie's DNA! He's about half cattle dog and the next biggest result was Boxer but he is mixed with many other breeds. Brownie is a sweet, energetic and spunky guy who had a rough start in life. He loves affection and is a good boy. He was found as a stray in Bonne Terre and got picked up by animal control, which is just a shed. We believe Brownie would do best in a more quiet home with older or no kids and an active owner that would spoil him and give him the life he deserves. Brownie will need a fence as he has a high prey drive and loves to chase the yard critters. If there are other dogs in the home they should be about his size or bigger. He loves to play with the other dogs. He has been introduced to the dog savvy catin the house and they get along okay.We only adopt to people in the St. Louis METRO area. Please see our Adoption Policies here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TZjrOP29mqXvcHEC3zPaKXXnS80LaVGMA45Lc0-Z2MI/edit?usp=sharingInformation about the rescue and adoption process can also be found at www.stlpetrescue.com along with a full listing of our adoptable pets. Our adoption fees:Cats range from $150 to $175. Exotic breeds may be more. Dogs range from $250 to $350. High demand puppies and small dogs may be more. This fee includes: felv/fiv/heartworm testing, worming, flea and ear mite treatments, age-appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, lab work, dental or other medical or surgical treatments as deemed necessary by our team of veterinarians and a microchip with free registration.
