Story
Cameron is an 8 yr old male border collie/retriever mix that came into our program a few months ago. His owner had died, and no other family members were able to take him in – so Cameron lived outside for 2 months on a tieout, and a kind neighbor fed him until a rescue could be found. When Cameron first came, he did not want to come in the house and he was leery of the cat. He now gladly comes in the house, but always checks to see where the cat is. Cameron gets along well with the resident dog and the two older dogs that visited. The dogs like to be in the front yard where they can watch people and dogs walk by. Cameron would enjoy the companionship of another mature medium-size dog. Cameron and the cat usually ignore each other. Any children in the home should be at least 12 yr old - younger kids might play too rough with him, and toddlers might climb on him. Cameron has been invited up on the couch and bed - he has only been on the bed two times – just to check it out - he seems to prefer sleeping on the hard wood floor where it is cooler or on a throw rug. He has also only been on the couch twice, so if you are looking for a dog that doesn’t go up on the furniture, Cameron could be your match. He is good meeting new people, and likes attention. He got out of the yard once when the gate was not securely closed. He went for a brisk walk down the block, eventually going into the fenced play ground area of the neighborhood school. When he saw the leash in his foster’s hand, he gladly came and was walked home. He had ignored any calling of his name, probably because he hadn’t learned his new name yet. The dogs are in and out of the house many times during the day as the yard is fenced in and safe for them. When Cameron is asked if he wants to go “outside” he sort of excitedly barks and wags his tail and heads for the door (otherwise he is a relatively quiet dog) and he does ask to go out by coming to you and whimpering. He rides in the car nicely (needs an assist to get in), although it is probably a new experience for him. Cameron was very aware of the Fourth of July fireworks sounds, but didn’t seem to be overly upset or nervous. He was very happy to be inside with the other animals. Cameron has one unique habit. He is fascinated with shadows and reflections of shiny things. It could be that he had been tied up most of his life, so that was one thing he used to amuse himself. He has spent a fair amount of his life on a tie-out, so now we would like him to have a fenced yard to move around in. Cameron is neutered and vaccinated. In March of this year he had routine blood chemistries done that were clinically normal, and in that same month had a dental cleaning with one extraction. In May , he had a lump on his left back foot removed - pathology wasn't cancer - it was a bunch of hair, skin, & other miscellaneous tissue they couldn't really identify (this is all healed up). His microchip is registered to Second Chance. He has some muscular atrophy over the left hip area- likely osteoarthritis, and is on fish oil and glucosamine supplements (and should continue on these). Also, he should not gain any weight – he weighs 52#, which the vet says is about the maximum weight for him. Arthritic hips make it difficult for him to negotiate the steps – he just doesn’t have the strength in his back end – so he needs a single level home with only 1 or 2 entry steps. He can’t jump up on furniture, or into the car. If there is another dog in the home, it should not rough-house or jump on him to play. Low impact exercise – such as walking or swimming, is encouraged. His adoption fee is $225. Call 651-771-5662 if you would like to meet Cameron. He is a gentle, mellow, well behaved dog.

Story
Mika is a very sweet loving girl. She does well with kids who are kind and loving back to her. She is a shadow and will follow you wherever you go. She needs loads of attention and play. She loves walks but she will try to chase squirrels and bunnies if giving the “go ahead” Shes a big mommas girl. She is potty trained but if she gets overly excited or scared while being petted, she will tinkle. I’m sad to let her go, but I want to give her the best chance possible to happy life.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi! I'm Lola, and I'm back at RSR to work on my confidence. I've recently discovered my strong urge to chase cats, so a cat-free home would be best for me. I'm looking for a patient family with time, energy, and ideally, a mature dog to help me learn. I'm a hound mix, possibly part Aussie or Border Collie, which means I'm energetic and need plenty of exercise. I love exploring scents, talking (so no shared walls), and at 12 months old, I'm still a bit of a puppy figuring things out. Car rides, snuggles, belly rubs, and following my human around are some of my favorite things. New people can make me nervous, so introductions need to be slow and supervised, especially with men, as I warm up to women faster. I deal with anxiety and some resource guarding, so I prefer to eat my meals in peace. I need a confident pack leader, ideally an adult woman, and a family with dog experience, no small kids, and a quiet environment. A fenced yard is a must, as I have a history of escaping. I'm working on my listening and leash manners, and a one-on-one trainer would be great, as group classes are overwhelming for me right now. I know it’s a lot, but I’ve had many transitions in my life. I’m excited to find my forever family, and I’d love to meet you! Feel free to ask my foster mom any questions! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Ranger is a sweet and intelligent dog who has come a long way from his days as a stray in Texas. He is leash-trained, crate trained, and enjoys car rides. Ranger loves water, toys, and is always eager to please his humans. His goofy nature makes him a joy to be around, and he's especially affectionate without being overly demanding for attention, waiting patiently for pets. Found malnourished, he has grown into a healthy, well-rounded companion who adores bedtime and patiently waits for his pets. Ranger shows great patience during leash training and is even-tempered, making him a perfect fit for a family looking for a calm, loving, and easygoing dog. Story
This dog is fostered in Forest Lake MN. Ariel is a 6 month old super mutt puppy. She appears to have some Lab, Border Collie and other breeds. She weighs about 35 pounds and will likely be around 50 pounds as an adult. Ariel loves to play toys and with her dog friends. She walks on a leash and is used to being on a cable run in her foster home. She is a good girl and doesn’t bark at the horses. Ariel is learning to sit as well. She rides fine in the car too. Ariel is not yet fully house trained. She is good in a crate. She is learning and her new family will need to keep up that training. Ariel is a great puppy and will do well with a variety of new friends.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus tax Meet Katie, a young dog with a wonderful personality. As a stray found on the streets of Mississippi, not a lot is known about her past. Once a very vibrant soul, shelter life and a long transport to Minnesota caused this sweet girl to develop shy behaviors, but she is learning to come back out of her shell and is building confidence with every day.Katie is a quiet house guest who is fully potty trained and loves spending time in her kennel and the yard. She has really started to enjoy walks and does pretty well at walking on a leash. Her goofy personality reveals itself more and more as she learns to trust her people, and she is sure to put a smile on your face with her silly antics. Her favorite hobbies include chasing bugs in the grass, chewing on bones, and watching squirrels. She is a chin-scratch-connoisseur and will adorably ask for affection by nudging your hand or pressing her head against your chest in a sign of trust.Katie is a teenager who’s mastering the ropes of being a family dog, so she is still learning that counters aren’t for surfing and socks aren’t for stealing. She did well with the dogs in boarding, has been afraid of the cats she sees outside, and ignores kids that ignore her. While Katie has not shown aggressive tendencies, any children in her future home should be dog-savvy and know not to push her boundaries or make loud and sudden movements around her.The perfect home for Katie will understand that a little bit of patience goes a long way, and they will find joy in seeing her personality blossom. Waiting just below the surface of this timid girl is an absolutely amazing dog who adores being pet and has such a fun personality. The right environment will see her flourish into a perfect member of the family, and her rescue community can’t wait to see her succeed. Potential fosters or adopters should be willing to invest time in building a strong bond with Katie. A gradual introduction to new experiences and people, along with positive reinforcement training. Having a confident dog in her new home would be a great benefit to her as she can learn from them to trust the humans around her.
