Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi! I'm Lola, and I'm back at RSR to work on my confidence. I've recently discovered my strong urge to chase cats, so a cat-free home would be best for me. I'm looking for a patient family with time, energy, and ideally, a mature dog to help me learn. I'm a hound mix, possibly part Aussie or Border Collie, which means I'm energetic and need plenty of exercise. I love exploring scents, talking (so no shared walls), and at 12 months old, I'm still a bit of a puppy figuring things out. Car rides, snuggles, belly rubs, and following my human around are some of my favorite things. New people can make me nervous, so introductions need to be slow and supervised, especially with men, as I warm up to women faster. I deal with anxiety and some resource guarding, so I prefer to eat my meals in peace. I need a confident pack leader, ideally an adult woman, and a family with dog experience, no small kids, and a quiet environment. A fenced yard is a must, as I have a history of escaping. I'm working on my listening and leash manners, and a one-on-one trainer would be great, as group classes are overwhelming for me right now. I know it’s a lot, but I’ve had many transitions in my life. I’m excited to find my forever family, and I’d love to meet you! Feel free to ask my foster mom any questions! Saint Lola is from an Owner Surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello! My name is Ohni and I’m a sweet and somewhat shy pup looking for my forever home. I’ve been with my foster family for almost four weeks now, and they say I’m genuinely a joy to be around—an easygoing girl who gets along well with adults, seniors, and other dogs, especially young, bouncy ones. I might take a little time to warm up to new people, particularly men, but I’m eager to make friends! I really love stuffies! I’ll toss them into the air and chase them around, then find a cozy spot to quietly and mercilessly gut them. I enjoy playing chase, even if I can’t seem to catch anything—those toys just bounce off my adorable face! I’m also housebroken, crate trained, and very good on a leash, so I’m ready for walks and playtime. During quiet evenings, I’m happy to settle down with a bone or a filled Kong. On weekends, I love curling up on a dog bed above my foster’s head for a cozy nap, or just being nearby while they read. I take treats gently, but if it’s something special like a slice of ham, I can get a little quick and snatch it! While I’m a wonderful young dog, I do have some quirks. I can be reactive to certain movements—like when my foster parents clap or reach for each other—and it’s best to keep me in a quiet space during loud activities, like football games. I also broke out of a wire crate once, so a sturdy plastic crate or a home where someone is around a lot would be ideal. I’d thrive in a low-energy, quieter home without a lot of chaos. I’m a bit chonky right now, but we’re working on that, and I’m the perfect size—smaller than a typical Border Collie. I’m affectionate and love to bond with my humans, following them around quietly, even getting up from naps to join them. If you’re looking for a sweet, shy companion who loves to play and cuddle, I might just be the perfect fit for you! Ohni is from a local impound. f you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Muffin, a super sweet pup who loves dogs of all sizes and is friendly with everyone—children, adults, and seniors.  Muffin's journey started on the streets, where she was found pregnant and searching for food, water, and shelter.  Now, she’s ready to find her forever home and share her loving personality. Muffin is leash trained, crate trained, and has a moderate energy level.  Her day starts at 7 AM with a potty break, followed by breakfast. She loves to play and run outside, especially enjoying her time herding and rounding up other dogs. During the heat of the day, Muffin rests in her kennel and has her second meal around 3:30 PM. Evening playtime is her favorite, and she’s ready for bed by 8:30 PM. Muffin is even-tempered, goofy, and playful. She enjoys playing fetch and loves her toys. While she needs a bit of patience with her herding instinct, her goofy and even-tempered nature makes her a delightful companion. She prefers to be out of her kennel and involved with her human family, making her a loyal and engaging pet. Muffin would thrive in a home with other dogs to keep her company and share in her playful antics. If you’re looking for a loving, playful, and sweet-natured dog, Muffin is eager to join your family and fill your home with joy and laughter! Muffin is from Texas.  One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule. Come and meet me at our adoption event at Trove Brewing, Burnsville on 8/3 at 2:00 - 4:00 pm!   Age: Approximate DOB 9/9/2022 Weight: 35 pounds Dog friendly: YES! She needs one in her forever home Cat friendly: Yes with dog savvy cats Kid friendly: Older kids only Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes when she can see other dogs **Needs another confident dog and physically fenced yard**  Addie is the sweetest little girl you’ll ever meet! She is nervous about new people at first, but will warm up after she realizes she's home and safe. She is such a little love bug who wants to cuddle and get pets. She happily lounges on the couch in the evening, getting snuggles. She needs another dog in the home to teach her how to be confident. She absolutely LOVES her doggo foster brother and playing with him, so another dog that wants to play is a must, as she needs that kind of relationship to blossom. She would cuddle up with her cat foster sister all of the time, so as long as the cat can handle her bursts of energy, she's a doll with them! Because of her fears, she needs a securely fenced yard to live her happiest life, and you'll see a different side of her when she's outside playing! She is potty trained and does well in a kennel for a full workday when you're gone. She's the easiest little girl because of her sweet demeanor and smartness. She keeps herself busy with toys during the day, so she'd be a great companion for anyone who works from home but is not required!  Once she's comfortable with you, we think she would be really great at agility or other training, too, so feel free to put her border collie abilities to the test! She gets really scared by sudden, loud noises and fast movements, so Addie would do best in a home without little kids. Other than that, she just wants all the love she can get from her people, dogs, and cats!  Adoption Fee: $495Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus tax Meet Katie, a young dog with a wonderful personality. As a stray found on the streets of Mississippi, not a lot is known about her past. Once a very vibrant soul, shelter life and a long transport to Minnesota caused this sweet girl to develop shy behaviors, but she is learning to come back out of her shell and is building confidence with every day.Katie is a quiet house guest who is fully potty trained and loves spending time in her kennel and the yard. She has really started to enjoy walks and does pretty well at walking on a leash. Her goofy personality reveals itself more and more as she learns to trust her people, and she is sure to put a smile on your face with her silly antics. Her favorite hobbies include chasing bugs in the grass, chewing on bones, and watching squirrels. She is a chin-scratch-connoisseur and will adorably ask for affection by nudging your hand or pressing her head against your chest in a sign of trust.Katie is a teenager who’s mastering the ropes of being a family dog, so she is still learning that counters aren’t for surfing and socks aren’t for stealing. She did well with the dogs in boarding, has been afraid of the cats she sees outside, and ignores kids that ignore her. While Katie has not shown aggressive tendencies, any children in her future home should be dog-savvy and know not to push her boundaries or make loud and sudden movements around her.The perfect home for Katie will understand that a little bit of patience goes a long way, and they will find joy in seeing her personality blossom. Waiting just below the surface of this timid girl is an absolutely amazing dog who adores being pet and has such a fun personality. The right environment will see her flourish into a perfect member of the family, and her rescue community can’t wait to see her succeed. Potential fosters or adopters should be willing to invest time in building a strong bond with Katie. A gradual introduction to new experiences and people, along with positive reinforcement training. Having a confident dog in her new home would be a great benefit to her as she can learn from them to trust the humans around her. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.
