Story
Meet our rare and beautiful Jolene, a stunning 3-year-old, 35-pound Red Merle Border Collie with a heart full of joy and a personality that will melt the heart as well! Jolene is playful, friendly, and always eager to greet her favorite people with a low, charming howl. She’s a social butterfly who loves children, adores cuddles, and thrives in the company of other dogs and even cats. This intelligent girl enjoys playing ball and is incredibly responsive to commands. She knows how to sit, stay, come, and heel, and she excels on a leash with the guidance of a strong leader—walking right at your side when told to 'heel.' True to her Border Collie nature, Jolene is a quick learner who seems to understand what you’re thinking before you even say it! While Jolene was house-trained as a puppy, she’s spent most of her recent time outdoors on a farm. She would thrive in a home with a fenced yard but is not suited for a home with chickens or livestock she is tempted to chase.  Her vibrant energy, loyal disposition, and affectionate nature make her the perfect companion for an active family who is ready to give her all the love and attention she deserves.  N We would like to know if a responding and adoptive family has any hurting breed experience in owning a dog. They are uniquely intelligent and training sensitive dogs.  Ready to bring Jolene home? Email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to request an adoption application. Let’s find this amazing girl her forever family! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 18, 2024, 7:24 pm

Story
Meet Charlie Barkley.  He is a sweet, playful awesome dog who is very easy to love.  He walks on a leash but needs additional training as he pulls.  He knows some basic commands but does need a bit more training.  Charlie is a 1 to 1 1/2 year old neutered male who weighs approximately 52 lbs.  He was originally adopted by a family that decided they no longer wanted him so they dumped him in a south Nashville neighborhood.  Charlie was found by a nice family that took him but cannot keep him because they have older cats.  They would love to add him to their family but it just win't work out.  He's been vet checked,  is current on his vaccines and is in excellent health.  Charlie is full of puppy energy and ready to play ball with the children.  He needs a younger active and energetic family who can  give him the exercise and play that he needs.  A fecned in yard is a MUST for Charlie.  When not playing, by the way ball is his favorite game, he loves to snuggle and get belly rubs. Charlie is patiently waiting for his forever family to find him.  He would be a great family dog and love to have a home for the holidays.  To be considered for his forever fmaily and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Charlie is in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)  November 19, 2024, 4:27 pm

Champ's gentle spirit shines through in his quiet demeanor; he rarely barks and is generally unfazed by new surroundings or noises. Champ is a fast learner who is eager to please, making him a great match for someone looking to build a strong bond. He's already crate-trained and does well on a leash, making walks a breeze. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
Boh was a pandemic puppy, born in October 2020, that we bought that December from a private breeder in Pennsylvania. She is now almost 4 years old and medium build at about 51 pounds in size. Her full name is “Bohdana”, a Slavic name meaning “God given” because Boh came into our family at just the right time to help my teenage daughter through the pandemic loneliness. Boh is an “only-dog” in that we had no other dogs but her, and she was never really around other dogs. We had cats that Boh accepted and never had problems. Boh always thinks that visitors (kids and adults) are there to see her! So she is a bit spoiled and will jump to people just to say “hi” and be hugged and petted. She’s never had problems meeting new people, including kids. She loves to play fetch with people, especially new people! Because Boh grew up in a big house with a big fenced-in yard (but with no neighbors close by), she tends to be afraid of loud noises, like thunderstorms, fireworks, even the sound of vacuum cleaners. And she’s wary of new dogs, timid before moving on to something else that interests her. Generally, Boh has slowly accepted some of the neighborhood dogs when I control the meeting process. A change in our family status, a move to a townhouse and a job that has me traveling frequently means that Boh is now alone for longer periods of time, with no large backyard to run in. She’s more isolated than before and I can see her separation anxiety growing. I can’t give her the life that she deserves, so I’m hoping to find her a nice family who can play with her, give her a large space to run like she used to in my old house, and give her the attention she once had. My Profile Age: 4 years Weight: 51 pounds Good with kids: Yes Good with dogs: I'm OK with some dogs, but I'd like to be an only dog Good with cats: Yes Fenced yard: Preferred Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: Only if you have a place nearby for me to run. House trained: Yes. Crate trained: Unknown but not necessary Barks when left alone: I’ll bark when you leave, but then I’ll settle down Chews inappropriate items: No Training: Boh is not formally trained but good on a leash and knows a couple commands such as "Sit", "Stay", "Come inside" Activity level: High Meet Me If you'd like to meet Boh or get more information about her, send an email to Andrew Hood, at aahood62@gmail.com

If you are interested in adopting this dog,  please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/generi.You can learn about the adoption process by visiting: http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.Dog's Name:   Claire  (CLA0224CHEFD)Estimated Breed:   Border Collie/Corgi/Boxer MIXApproximate Age:   2-3 yearsApproximate Weight:   35 lbs  Currently Living at:   FosterAdoption Fee:   $400DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Hi I'm Claire, and I've been lucky enough to land in a great foster home with a very fun older doggie brother! Here's what my foster mom says about me: Claire is one active bundle of cuteness. She gets along well with Toasty (foster's dog) and would do best in a home with another similar sized ACTIVE dog. She is very nose active and loves to sniff around. She would do well with someone who wanted to play some scent games with her. She would also do really well at agility. She has been using my furniture for Parkour practice! She is very food motivated (hence the few extra pounds around the middle). She knows sit, and tends to sit if she thinks food might be around. She also does well in a crate for a few hours. You have to be aware though, that she comes out at full speed and spinning. Claire loves stuffed animals, especially the squeaky kind. She will even bring some to you so you can toss them for her. She also tries to taunt Toasty with them, which he does in return to her. She will steal treats from him, so any already existing dogs would need to be okay with a bratty sister. No accidents so far with the doggie door and back yard being available. All pottying has happened outside. It took her a few hours to understand the dog door. I now have it propped partially open and she can get out and in on her own. Even with it closed she can get back in because she scratches at the door and the dog door opens, voila.Claire acts a lot like a corgi mixed with a boxer. She's constantly batting at things with her front paws. She has that Corgi shape to her body and ears. That also means that she needs to go to a family that's willing to work with her on her batting at people and jumping on people tendencies (older children or children used to exuberant play). She likes to climb up on the chair with me and then crawl around on me, including my back and shoulders, until she finds a spot she likes. A lot like a cat! Once she finds a spot where she can cuddle and get petted she is the happiest pup. She had no problem feeling comfortable quickly.  Claire is a super sweet and loving dog - just the right size and has a great personality! Put in your application today, and make sweet Claire part of your family! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training.
