Story
Penny is an 8 month old border collie mix with the absolute sweetest personality I’ve ever met. I’m heartbroken to have to rehome her, but with a new job as a first responder I don’t have the hours or the money to be able to give her the enrichment and time she needs. Lives with a small dog and big dog, good with cats, kids and people. Just wants to be around you all the time!

Story
Boh was a pandemic puppy, born in October 2020, that we bought that December from a private breeder in Pennsylvania. She is now almost 4 years old and medium build at about 51 pounds in size. Her full name is “Bohdana”, a Slavic name meaning “God given” because Boh came into our family at just the right time to help my teenage daughter through the pandemic loneliness. Boh is an “only-dog” in that we had no other dogs but her, and she was never really around other dogs. We had cats that Boh accepted and never had problems. Boh always thinks that visitors (kids and adults) are there to see her! So she is a bit spoiled and will jump to people just to say “hi” and be hugged and petted. She’s never had problems meeting new people, including kids. She loves to play fetch with people, especially new people! Because Boh grew up in a big house with a big fenced-in yard (but with no neighbors close by), she tends to be afraid of loud noises, like thunderstorms, fireworks, even the sound of vacuum cleaners. And she’s wary of new dogs, timid before moving on to something else that interests her. Generally, Boh has slowly accepted some of the neighborhood dogs when I control the meeting process. A change in our family status, a move to a townhouse and a job that has me traveling frequently means that Boh is now alone for longer periods of time, with no large backyard to run in. She’s more isolated than before and I can see her separation anxiety growing. I can’t give her the life that she deserves, so I’m hoping to find her a nice family who can play with her, give her a large space to run like she used to in my old house, and give her the attention she once had. My Profile Age: 4 years Weight: 51 pounds Good with kids: Yes Good with dogs: I'm OK with some dogs, but I'd like to be an only dog Good with cats: Yes Fenced yard: Preferred Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: Only if you have a place nearby for me to run. House trained: Yes. Crate trained: Unknown but not necessary Barks when left alone: I’ll bark when you leave, but then I’ll settle down Chews inappropriate items: No Training: Boh is not formally trained but good on a leash and knows a couple commands such as "Sit", "Stay", "Come inside" Activity level: High Meet Me If you'd like to meet Boh or get more information about her, send an email to Andrew Hood, at aahood62@gmail.com

Dakota is a sweet sensitive gal. She was slightly timid but acquiesced to being leashed, and off we went!Dakota had a terrific nose and took us on a tour of all the interesting places to smell within 50 feet of the door. She also quickly found a spot to do her business and then it was back to tracking down scents. If you’re looking for a younger dog with keen intelligence, a border collie like Dakota would be a fine choice.Be sure and visit Dakota at the Prince Georges County Animal Services shelter.Check out my video by copying and pasting link below into a browser window:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB7_nO0eabE

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained,
Story
Roughly 1.5 years old, does okay with large dogs with appropriate meeting. Must be on a leash or lead in yards as she will jump fences. Not good with small dogs or cats or other small animals. Pulls on leash but does well with harness. Does good in bath but is difficult with nails trims. Gets carsick easily. Loves kids and is very gentle with them. Knows sit, sit pretty, down (lay down), wait (for food), paw, and easy when giving treats, and crate (go to the crate). She sleeps well in a crate but gets up around 6/7am to go potty and will let you know she is ready to go out. Can not eat/have treats or toys with other dogs present as she is territorial and may show aggression towards other animals NOT people.

Kobe's guardian states the reason she has made the difficult decision to rehome him: "Needs a fenced in yard/someone who can be very active with him. Has a lot of energy. Gets bored very easily if inside house too long. He is crate trained and is good one a leash. Unfortunately unable to leave him outside on lead in our yard unattended due to neighborhood dogs who constantly get out. We do not have a fence." Kobe's guardian states the following regarding children:  Kobe lives with children, ages 0-4, so his guardian recommends his living with children, stating "He has not been around children outside of our home.  Mostly avoids my 4 year old as she is very active around him.  He lets my 6 month old pet him with no issues  Gets car sick." Kobe's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Kobe lives with a dog, but hasn't been around dogs outside the home, but his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "Has not been around dogs outside of our home.  We have a golden retriever and they get along great." Kobe's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Kobe lives with a cat, but hasn't been around cats outside the home, but his guardian recommends his living with cats, stating "Has not been around cats outside of home.  Lives with cat currently and once they were introduced and acquainted they were fine and don't pay any attention to each other." Kobe's guardian describes him as: Very active Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Always at your side Indoor dog House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Kobe's guardian describes his ideal future home:  "Big fenced yard.  Someone who is going to be active with him as he has a lot of energy.  Loves to play fetch and run outside." Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Pepper is 5yo, weighs 50lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Pepper "knows basic commands (sit, stay, leave it, come, down).  We use an electronic collar solely for the beeping function as a que for her to come inside or be at attention.  She roams the house freely or is kept in her crate for short periods of time as needed.  She sleeps on a dog bed in the master bedroom or in her crate.  She loves the car, loves watching out the windows, and sniffing everything."   Pepper's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her: "We have a toddler and are expecting the second.  We saw an uptick of aggressive behavior from Pepper towards our cats starting during my first pregnancy and now we are seeing the behavior escalate further.  We believe that this behavior is jealousy-based as my attention becomes more stretched as we add more members to our family.  Her aggression has never been directed at a member of our family or any other person.  We've tried interventions such as medication (she takes Prozac daily) and training but with another child on the way we aren't able to provide the time, resources, and attention that Pepper needs anymore." Bite Incident:  In July 2020, in Nottingham, MD, Pepper bit another dog outside her yard; the bite broke the skin/scratched the cornea; animal control was not involved; treatment was required to the eye.  Pepper's guardian further explains:  "Pepper escaped from our yard, with me following closely after her.  When I reached her she has approached a smaller dog who was walking with its owner. The smaller dog nipped at Pepper's paws and Pepper responded by barking and biting the other dog.  The other dog had a scratched cornea that required vet attention." Pepper's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  "Currently on Prozac for anxiety.  She is a very anxious dog." Pepper's guardian states the following regarding children:  Pepper lives with children, ages 0-2, so her guardian recommends her living with children, stating...  "Pepper is great with kids.  She generally ignores children unless they engage with her but happily engaged with them once the invitation is extended.  Our toddler loves and gets along with her very well and she is extremely tolerant of his not-so-gentle nature.  She has stayed with families with older school-age children and they have also gotten along very well with her and she's played very happily with them." Pepper's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Pepper doesn't live with a dog, her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "She is best with calm, passive dogs.  She does not do well with other high-energy dogs". Pepper's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Although Pepper lives with cats, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating... "She has lived with cats since we got her when she was 6 months old.  She has a strong chase instinct and prey drive and that's never fully calmed down with our cats.  This is exacerbated as her anxiety worsens." Pepper's guardian describes her as: Very active Barks alot Playful Likes to be touched Affectionate Fearful Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Outdoor dog Nervous House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Separation anxiety Pepper's guardian describes her ideal future home: "Pepper would do best in a fully fenced yard, but she does currently do well in a yard that is not fully fenced in.  An ideal home for her would be an active home that could provide her with regular walks or even hikes/swims, or a house with school age kids."
