Very sweet and loving boy! Despite what must have been horrible pain, suffering, and fear he was a gentle loving soul when I helped lift him out of the car at the vets. Major Medical Foster required! Poor Bernie was hit by a car and his previous owner did not get him immediate medical attention, so the wounds became infected and necrotic. He has a major head wound that involves an exposed portion of his skull and a skull fracture. Bernie was basically scalped to a degree. The tissue was necrotic and sloughing and has been surgically cleansed and dead tissue removed, BUT it must be cleansed 1-2 times daily and closely monitored for deterioration. He also had to have a tip of one ear removed. He has no fractures other than the skull fracture that will heal with time. He has some wounds to a front leg and paw that will also need daily wound care and monitoring. Despite all of this the vets and animal hospital staff report that Bernie is the happiest and sweetest boy! He will remain in the hospital until approximately 11/12/2024 if his wounds continue to improve. Bernie was also neutered while he was under having his ear and scalp worked on. Bracken County Animal Shelter took care of this sweet boy!

He is very active, loves his belly rubs and all the attention he can get. Pare' will do best in a home with another dog to help him acclimate. I’m very impressed with him being an “old soul”, for being so young. He is a sweetheart to the fullest. He has a really soft, smooth, shiny coat. It’s a little longer than it looks. Definitely soft and definitely shiny. There is a Facebook page where potential doctors can see the dogs that I foster in My Home. I will put a link at the end of this section. Toby is located in Harrison Arkansas with Ozark Homeward Bound animal rescue. He would be transported to your location via the rescue network transport.
