DOVE is a one year old, female border collie/hound mix. She has a cute, little nubbins of a tail that just is the frosting on cake for this precious dog. She is currently in our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training because at her age, there is nothing better for a young adult than manners and composure. She is super smart and has picked up on her schooling quickly although her favorite part of the day is snuggling with people. She's great with the other dogs in the program and her favorite toy is her kong. Her perfect family should be an active one with a fenced yard so she can get the proper amount of exercise. Meet Wander! Shortly before Christmas, a good Samaritan stopped along I-64 and discovered a tub of puppies. They quickly took them to Shelby County Animal Control, who reached out to us, and within a day they were safe in our care. Thanks to the outpouring of support from our community, we’ve been able to provide the medical care they desperately needed. Over the past couple of weeks, these sweet pups have been healing, staying warm, and gaining much-needed weight. Now, they’re ready to find their forever homes! We expect them to be a medium size at full maturity. If you’re interested in adopting, our process begins with the submission of OUR online application at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com, or email us if you submitted an application within the last six months. We review and schedule meets (with approved applicants only) based on the order received.

I rescued Holly last year. Holly is fixed, chipped, and current on all shots. I have her records. She's a good dog, but about four months ago, I got divorced which means no one is at home while I am at work to take care of her. I work 12 hours a day some days. It’s too cold to leave her outside. Plus, she’s recently figured out how to get out of the fence and will run the neighborhood unless I constantly watch her. I have to kennel her for 12 hours a day, but that seems terrible; however, if I leave her out of her kennel, she destroys my furniture and pees everywhere. I’m at the point where I don’t know what to do and have decided the best option is for Holly to find someone who can provide the attention she needs.

She loves the outdoors, going on walks and playing catch and tug of war! She gets along with our shitzu just fine, but has issues sometimes with other dogs. The main reason for us needing to re-home is she has become aggressive towards our cat.

My two dogs are my babies, however they have been miserable since I had a baby. While she doesn't even mess with them they absolutely hate her and having her around. So i need to take their comfort into consideration so we have decided to rehome. I am hoping to rehome them together if possible but it'll need to be to somewhere without small children or other dogs. Cats are OK. They are super lovey and cuddly pet.

SHERLOCK is a 1.5-year-old male, catahoula/cattle dog mix but that's just the start! If you want to take a guess at the "mix" piece? Whatever you guess, you'll be right as there are no less than 17 in this happy little body! He is full grown and weighs 45 pounds, He is neutered,microchipped, up to date on vaccines and preventative. SHERLOCK is very outgoing, and good with other young dogs that match his energy level. Sherlock's perfect family should be active. A fenced in yard is necessary so he can receive the proper amount of exercise. Sherlock requires a home with kids over 12yrs of age due to his energy level and zest for life. Sherlock would do best in a home without cats. Meet Apollo! Apollo is a 5-year-old Cattle Dog mix. If you're looking for the perfect companion, you can choose any adventure you want with this dog. He loves the car so pick a park, pick a kayak, pick a trail - He's ready to go. At home, he's good for zoomies in the yard or settling down for cozies on the couch. He might look a little serious, but he's very affectionate. He's a straightforward dog with simple needs. At his age and maturity level, he does not need to be entertained or exercised all day. He is not a groupie, he just needs his "person", his BFF. Apollo requires a physically fenced in yard and a home without other animals. Story
Beethoven was born deaf to a litter of ten purebred Australian Cattle Dogs. His brothers and sisters all went to good homes to either be family pets or working dogs. However, because of his special needs, Beethoven stayed with us to be cared for. We already have three other dogs and realize we have stretched ourselves a bit. We want Beethoven to have his best life with someone who can care for him properly. Beethoven has been an outside dog who is crated inside at night. He is incredibly intelligent and sweet. While he can occasionally be ornery, he mostly wants to run and bark at squirrels when he sees them. He has shown food aggression in the past and we have worked with him to correct but we have seen him try to bully other dogs out of the bowl. In his life, Beethoven has interacted with at least five other dogs but never with cats. He does well around children.
