Story
SAAP, please let me introduce you to…. Fiona!    While Fiona’s no hippo, she is a very cute, sweet, and utterly deserving pup looking for a forever home!!   Fiona’s backstory isn’t necessarily unique, but it is still heartbreaking. Fiona and 4 of her housemates found themselves in a shelter when their owner’s health deteriorated and he/she could no longer care for them. Fiona appeared to be the most scared and stressed of all of them in the shelter. The shelter reached out to SAAP begging us to take her.    So, what did I do? I welcomed her to my home of chaos!! Fiona was so displaced and scared that it has taken her a week or so to decompress in my home. Past trauma can easily do that to a sweet pup. She’s finally learning that she can relax, she can be happy, and she can feel safe and be playful again! It’s a beautiful thing to watch!!   Fiona is an approximately 5 year old, 36lbs, border collie mix. She doesn’t nip or try to herd at all though, like many herding breeds do, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s not in her mix! She’s healthy, spayed, vaccinated, and, microchipped.    She’s wonderful with kids, and other dogs, especially dogs her size or bigger. She previously lived with dogs smaller than her and is currently doing so, but she is trying to find her place in the pack and having a harder time with the smaller dogs. She would also be amazing as your one and only dog, as she loves human attention!!    She’s quiet, potty and crate trained, and would love some activity to keep her stimulated throughout the day! That can be as simple as a walk or hike, puzzle mats, frozen peanut butter filled bones, etc. But don’t worry, she crashes hard at night and sleeps solidly dreaming of her forever home and family!   So, she’s begging “pwease, pwease, pwease adopt me and give me a chance!!”    Apply for Fiona and give her a second chance at a beautiful life!!January 29, 2025, 12:04 pm

Story
Meet Kage, the ultimate good boy who's just so darn cute! This gentleman is a pro at house living, fully potty trained, and a master at walking on a leash and harness. He's a social butterfly, getting along famously with other dogs and loving those backyard playdates with his pals. Kage is a stunning mix of Lab and Border Collie, the perfect blend of intelligence and family-friendliness. He's just the right size, like a mini Lab or a slightly larger Border Collie. When you find two fantastic things that go together like peanut butter and jelly, you celebrate! Kage is that winning combo, and now you can celebrate by making him a cherished member of your family. His temperament is pure gold - sweet as honey with everyone he meets. Now, here's the scoop: Kage is a special needs pup, and he's looking for someone who can be with him about 90 percent of the time. Storms, rain, and loud noises send him into severe panic attacks, and he's been known to chew through walls when anxiety strikes. Crates aren't his jam because of past storm-related trauma. He's also dealing with seizures, so he's on medication for that. Kage would thrive in a local adoption, and he's best as a single dog with no cats or small animals around. He's a wonderful companion for older kids, and he loves nothing more than cuddles and long walks. He's got the whole house training thing down too. His foster mom adores him and has prepared him for his forever family as best she can. Now, the ball is in your court. Remember, when you adopt Kage, you're not just bringing home a good boy; you're giving him the loving, understanding home he deserves. Don't shop, adopt, because Kage's life depends on it! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
