Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Flora is a shy girl who is slowly gaining confidence. She also loves playing and cuddling with her German Shepherd foster sister. She would do best in a home with another dog to help build her confidence. Flora is still cautious around men, but we are working on teaching her that not all people are bad. Flora and Fauna are a great match if you are looking for 2, just the right size, dogs to provide lots of entertainment. Flora is crate trained and potty trained once you learn her potty routine. She also is a cuddler once she warms up to you and knows she can trust you. Flora also doesn’t mind the cats in her foster home. If you would like to adopt Flora please visit our website at projecthopearf.org and fill out an application. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 17, 2025, 10:35 am

Story
Fanny is a playful purebred Mini Australian Shepherd we got from a pet store last May. A week later, she was diagnosed with pneumonia. After a couple of months on antibiotics and rest, she fully recovered and has a clean bill of health, with vet records to prove it. Fanny loves belly rubs, playing with our toddler and cats, zoomies in the backyard, and walks. She isn’t potty trained yet due to her rough start and an unexpected promotion I received two months after getting her, which has required frequent travel since summer. Juggling work, a toddler, and a puppy has been too much for me. We care deeply about her and are committed to finding the perfect home. If you’re an active family with a fenced yard and experience training puppies, we’d love to hear from you!

Story
Meet Penny Formerly Known as Porsia: Ready for Her Forever Home! Hi, I'm Penny! I'm just over 1 year old, around 40 pounds, and I recently made my way up from Texas with my adorable puppies. I was a great mama, but now that my pups are weaned, it's my turn to find a forever family to call my own! I may be part Australian Shepherd or Kelpie—whatever my mix, one thing's for sure: I'm stunning! With one blue eye and one brown eye, I’m quite the head-turner. In my foster home, I live with kids and another dog, and I absolutely love them both. I’m still young, so sometimes I get a little too excited and jump up, but my foster family is helping me work on that. I'm doing great with potty training—when I go outside, I do my business right away. I love toys and playing fetch! I’ll bring the ball back to you every time, ready for another throw. I’m also super affectionate; I enjoy giving kisses and cuddling up on the couch. At night and during the day when my foster family is out, I rest in my crate. I might whine for a couple of minutes when I first go in, but I quickly settle down and sleep peacefully through the night. I’d love to find a family of my own—hopefully just in time for the holidays. If you’re looking for a loving, playful, and beautiful companion, I’m your girl. Let’s make this season one to remember. Ready to meet Penny? Fill out an application and make her dream of a forever home come true! Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. An application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee adoption but does allow us to begin the review process. Please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Story
Meet Shelby – The Sweet and Playful Pup Ready for His Forever Home! Shelby is a 13-week-old mixed breed puppy. When we say mixed, we mean a true Heinz 57! He's a beautiful mix with a stunning sable coat and striking blue eyes that look almost too perfect to be real—but they are! Weighing 20 pounds, Shelby is ready to bring joy and laughter to a loving family. Shelby is the perfect mix of playful and easygoing. He’s a little more low-maintenance than his siblings but still full of fun. Whether he’s romping around, hopping through the yard, or engaging in a game of fetch or chase, his playful nature keeps everyone entertained. When it’s time to relax, Shelby is just as happy curling up in a lap for a cozy nap or finding a quiet spot on his own. He has started working on potty training and loves going outside, enjoys exploring, and doesn’t mind the cold or snow. With consistency, he’ll quickly master potty training. While he hasn’t started leash or crate training yet, he’s used to being in a penned area when his foster family is away or at bedtime. Shelby is very food-motivated and eager to learn. With patience and guidance, he will pick up new skills quickly. Shelby has never met a stranger. His friendly nature makes him a favorite with everyone, and he’s been well-socialized in his foster home, living with three dogs of various sizes and ages. He loves playing and learning from them, making him a great fit for families with kids or other pets. Shelby would thrive in a home with plenty of companionship, whether from kids, adults, or another dog. He’s an adaptable pup who enjoys both active playtime and quiet moments. Expected to grow into a medium-large dog, he’s a wonderful choice for families or couples ready for a loving, playful companion. If Shelby sounds like the perfect addition to your family, don’t wait—submit an application to Safe Haven today. Puppies as sweet and charming as Shelby won’t be available for long! A Quick Reminder: Puppies require time, patience, and care as they grow and learn. With positive reinforcement and consistency, Shelby will blossom into a loyal, well-adjusted member of your family. Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). .
