Story
LEARNING TO TRUST:  Approx. 10 - 11 months old / Approx. 38 lbs. & growing Hi, I’m Hayden!  I’m part of a group of Border Collies that appear to have been dumped, so some nice people and animal control worked together to get us safely into rescues once our quarantine time was up. I don’t recall my past, but it may not have been the best given my circumstances so, I’m looking for a quieter type of home with a patient and loving family. I’m in a wonderful foster home now, settling in nicely. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I wasn’t quite ready to play with them, but I also didn’t show any aggression.  I love the dogs in my foster home and look to them for guidance and comfort. Mostly Mutts does feel that I should have another friendly dog in my new home, to pal around with and help me adjust, so, let’s meet!  / I met a cat in my temp. foster home, and I was timid, yet interested and respectful of them.  / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  The volunteers agree ‘it is impossible to resist my cuteness’. Thanks to the patience and socialization I’m receiving from the dedicated volunteers and my foster, I’ve come a long way in a short time.  Initially scared and shut down, I’m now happy to receive love and my friendly nature is emerging.  I enjoyed my time in the play yard with my sibling before she was adopted, and often checked back in with the volunteers for some love, kisses and attention. Though still timid with new things, I think that a nice routine will help me to be more comfortable.  / My energy level is 5-7.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and look forward to learning a lot with my trainer!  Check back soon to see what I've learned. The main skill I am working on right now is building my trust of people.  With my naturally intelligent Border Collie breed, I bet you can teach me some great commands when I settle into my new home. The leash is very new to me and I’m not yet comfortable with it, so please make sure I’m very secure on a leash so I don’t get scared and run off as I don’t want to get lost or hurt. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. It’s a safe space for me in my foster home with the crate door open.  Having some kennels around my new home for me to retreat to and relax in would be nice. I whined a bit when the door first closed for bedtime, but I settled down quickly.  / I had some accidents on the shelter schedule but am doing really well in my foster home.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I’m beginning to show my love for playing with soft toys and bones.  I like going out into a secure yard more than walking on a leash, so I’d love a fenced yard in my new home that we can play in together.  As we get to know each other, I’m sure we will discover lots of things we like doing together. / I don’t think I’d be comfortable in a home with a lot of folks coming and going, as a nice quieter type of home seems much better for me.  A few different noises frightened me in my foster home – the sliding glass door opening, people coming up and down stairs, etc.  I was also scared when getting into the car, walking across thresholds and upstairs, large open spaces, and when seeing my own reflection.  I did get carsick in the car with my foster, but I hope this will improve as I get used to riding in the car.  I need a family that will slowly and patiently introduce me to new things and provide me with lots of positive reinforcement.  I’m also sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.                • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a wonderful home with a patient and loving family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 20, 2024, 11:12 am

Story
Morgan is a 1 year old, 30 lb mixed breed cutie. She came to us from animal control on the day she was supposed to be euthanized. She is a shy girl but oh so sweet. Morgan is very food motivated and follows her foster mom around the house. Food has really helped her bond and trust. She does well with both cats and dogs, and she really looks to other dogs for guidance. She has been with dogs, small to large and does well with all of them. She also loves to play with other dogs. She is truly a great sized, sweet girl. Due to Morgan's past, the trainer we worked with believes she would do best in a quiet home with a few other dogs and no children. She does best in a structured environment because it makes her feel most secure. To adopt this sweet girl, please apply on www.orphanannierescue.org Her adoption fee is $150, which includes her shots up-to-date, microchipping, spay, and heartworm testing.

Story
Oscar is an amazing dog. He's great with all humans (he loves everybody) and plays great with every dog he's encountered while I've had him. He's a medium-sized old man, but he loves running and walking. I'm an active person, but he can out run and walk me by miles. I adopted him from the Atlanta Humane Society two months ago after he had been there for 10 days. I was told that the family he was with before surrendered him because they weren't able to keep up with his active lifestyle. (I assume there was a sickness in the family or it was an elderly adult.) While Oscar has been an amazing addition to my life, I also have a senior cat who is 8 years old. Oscar is tolerate of the cat, but they cannot coexist. He loves to chase my cat, and I've had to keep them separated by an animal gate. I think Oscar belongs in a home with plenty of human love and even another dog who can keep him company. While cats may be not be his favorite companion, Oscar loves all people and dogs.
