Most county shelters simply don’t have the space, staff, or resources to care for a mom and her newborns, so when this little family needed help, Big Dog Ranch Rescue didn’t hesitate to step in. Now safe in our care, Nyx and her babies are getting everything they need — medical attention, good nutrition, and most importantly, love. Nyx can finally rest easy knowing her pups are warm, fed, and cared for. Each day they’re growing stronger, learning, and showing more of their sweet, playful personalities. He can be corrective in his interactions, which simply means he understands boundaries and benefits from guidance and consistency. With people, Kiko is sweet, affectionate, and engaging. He would thrive best in a home with adults only or with older children who understand and respect his boundaries. A home with someone who has moderate dog experience would be ideal, as Kiko responds well to confident, thoughtful leadership. After being adopted, Spot was returned because it turned out he needed a more experienced adopter who could better meet his needs—it was simply not the right fit. Spot is a little under-socialized, which means he hasn’t had enough chances to learn about the world yet. With time, patience, and training, he can grow more confident and comfortable. He would do best with a handler who enjoys teaching and is willing to spend time helping him succeed. Spot can get frustrated when there is a barrier, like a window or a fence, but this does not mean he is aggressive. He is still learning how to manage his excitement and feelings in those moments.
