Story
Meet Charlie Barkley.  He is a sweet, playful awesome dog who is very easy to love.  He walks on a leash but needs additional training as he pulls.  He knows some basic commands but does need a bit more training.  Charlie is a 1 to 1 1/2 year old neutered male who weighs approximately 52 lbs.  He was originally adopted by a family that decided they no longer wanted him so they dumped him in a south Nashville neighborhood.  Charlie was found by a nice family that took him but cannot keep him because they have older cats.  They would love to add him to their family but it just win't work out.  He's been vet checked,  is current on his vaccines and is in excellent health.  Charlie is full of puppy energy and ready to play ball with the children.  He needs a younger active and energetic family who can  give him the exercise and play that he needs.  A fecned in yard is a MUST for Charlie.  When not playing, by the way ball is his favorite game, he loves to snuggle and get belly rubs. Charlie is patiently waiting for his forever family to find him.  He would be a great family dog and love to have a home for the holidays.  To be considered for his forever fmaily and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Charlie is in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)  November 19, 2024, 4:27 pm

Story
We are calling them "Border Bullies"! Mama is a Border Collie, dad is a Pit Bull! I cannot imagine how smart these pups will be! They were born on October 13th. The owner of Nelly (mom) and Bruce (dad) unfortunately wound up in jail and obviously couldn't take care of this little family so they were surrendered to us on the day they were born. Both mom and dad have beautiful temperaments so I am quite sure these pups will be amazing! They will be available for adoption by January 11, 2025. They are all spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. How can you resist!! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $650

Story
Hello! Riker is a delightful guy who is incredibly playful and loves to get treats. He loves cuddles and attention and likes to believe he is a lap dog when in fact he is pushing 60 lbs at barely one year old. He knows all his basic commands like sit and stay, he also knows the commands for going to his dog bed and his crate, and he is also working on getting better at walking and he is doing a really good job. I will give whom ever adopts Riker all his favorite toys, his dog bed, his leash and harness, and his crate. My requirements for adoption are that you: have a back yard and do not live alone since he is a dog that requires a lot of love and attention.

Here's what my foster mom says about me: Claire is one active bundle of cuteness. She gets along well with Toasty (foster's dog) and would do best in a home with another similar sized ACTIVE dog. She is very nose active and loves to sniff around. She would do well with someone who wanted to play some scent games with her. She would also do really well at agility. She has been using my furniture for Parkour practice! She is very food motivated (hence the few extra pounds around the middle). She knows sit, and tends to sit if she thinks food might be around. She also does well in a crate for a few hours. You have to be aware though, that she comes out at full speed and spinning. Claire loves stuffed animals, especially the squeaky kind. She will even bring some to you so you can toss them for her. She also tries to taunt Toasty with them, which he does in return to her. She will steal treats from him, so any already existing dogs would need to be okay with a bratty sister. No accidents so far with the doggie door and back yard being available. All pottying has happened outside. It took her a few hours to understand the dog door. I now have it propped partially open and she can get out and in on her own. Even with it closed she can get back in because she scratches at the door and the dog door opens, voila.Claire acts a lot like a corgi mixed with a boxer. She's constantly batting at things with her front paws. She has that Corgi shape to her body and ears. That also means that she needs to go to a family that's willing to work with her on her batting at people and jumping on people tendencies (older children or children used to exuberant play). She likes to climb up on the chair with me and then crawl around on me, including my back and shoulders, until she finds a spot she likes. A lot like a cat! Once she finds a spot where she can cuddle and get petted she is the happiest pup. She had no problem feeling comfortable quickly.  Claire is a super sweet and loving dog - just the right size and has a great personality! Put in your application today, and make sweet Claire part of your family! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Jack is a 1 year old Australian Cattle Labrador mix. He’s a sweet boy who love to receive cuddles. Soft plushie toys are his favorite in keeping calm and he enjoys a good rubber ball or rope toy to throw around by himself. He loves to run and we are looking to rehome with someone who can give him that. He’s smart and would benefit from a bit of training. He can get a little territorial so he would do best as an only pet. We love him so much but realize he would do better in home with a yard versus an apartment. He also started exhibiting littermate syndrome towards one his brothers and we are trying to prevent it from escalating further. He’s very sweet and loving.

Story
Holly is a female pure breed Australian Shepherd, from California. I adapted her as a puppy in February 2021. She has lived in many different environments, including a city apartment, house, and briefly on a 14 acre farm. She is mostly adapted to apartments but would love an open yard or space to run in. She is great with children and incredibly loving, friendly, and gentle. She does not need “special attention” but she does need a lot of love and affection. I have struggled to give her the best attention and care since moving to D.C. for work and separating from my partner.

Story
This precious girl came from one of the worst hoarding situations that we have ever dealt with. there were over 100 dogs on the property, none of them spayed or neutered. Finally, the authorities went in and they managed to get ALL of the dogs out of there. Filthy dirty situation, sick puppies, you name it. We choose to take Blossom home to our rescue because her eyes were begging us for love and attention. She was very pregnant and two weeks after arriving, she gave birth to 7 heathy puppies! Every single puppy was different, every singe puppy had a different daddy! We think that Blossom had never been paid any attention to because she was so shy. Once we weaned her babies we took her out of the nursery and into the house where she just blossomed! That's how she got her name! Her puppies have long since been adopted and now it's her turn. We actually did a DNA on her and it came back with 4 different breeds, which we kind of figured from the beginning. Australian Cattle Dog, Labrador Retriever, Pit Bull, Boxer. Yes, she is truly a "Mutt!: She is extremely smart and will do anything for a treat. I want her to have a nice fenced yard with lots of room to run. Cattle dogs are working dogs and they need lots of exercise! She is spayed, crate trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped and house broken, truly a gem! Ready for immediate transport. ADOPTION FEE $400 PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION!
