Story
Chino is a good dog for the right home, but he has two flaws: he doesn't care to share an environment with any other dogs, and he can escape from almost any confinement. Since we like Border Collies in general, and since he was "overdue" at his animal shelter one day when we were there picking up another dog, he was also chosen and saved. We quickly learned that the part of Chino that is not Border Collie is probably one of the tundra breeds like Malamute, because we had to fully enclose every inch of his kennel to keep him in. (This was after he escaped from four previous attempts to kennel him.) The good news is that after escaping he only wanted to stay by the side of his human friends here at the rescue, so he'll need a pretty much constant human companion. Chino is about 3 years old and weighs about 80 pounds.

Story
Blissy is a 1-year-old (as of February 1, 2024) mixed breed pup whose owner had to relinquish her due to incompatibility with her other female dog, the "alpha" dog in the home. Blissy did well with the two male dogs, and in our experience here she has done well with another female that is not a dominant girl. We think she is probably Shepherd-Border Collie or some such mix, and she's incredibly smart. Blissy "play-nips" gently when excited, which makes us think Border Collie or some other herding breed may be in her gene pool. She's mostly housebroken, knows many commands (typically having to be told only once), aims to please, and loves long walks. Her ex-owner says Blissy "is an absolutely wonderful dog" whom she will greatly miss.

Story
Dahlia is perfect! She is so good with other dogs and humans. She has been waiting 2 years for a place to call home. She was originally rescued with her boyfriend and litter of pups. All have long been adopted while she has been waiting. Great in the car, nice on leash and not a barker. She only barks when she needs to go out to do her business. Would be fine as an only dog or part of a pack. She’s so stunning, people are drawn to her. She is new to our rescue and has been a bit confused and stressed out at mobile adoption events but after each event she gets more comfortable. It’s a big change for her and she’s handling it much better than we would.

These pups are in Ventura, California too!

Breed: Australian Cattle Dog X DOB: 11/2019 Gender: male Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: medium Color(s): black/brown/white Description: Hi, I'm Gunner, an outgoing Australian Cattle Dog X in need of a new home due to something they referred to as divorce and having to sell the home. I don't know what that all is, but I do know I need a new place to call home. I'm good with other dogs and cats too, but I may chase the cat because I want to play. I'm active and good with older children, but not with younger children. I enjoy chasing tennis balls and going for walks. I need people to go slowly with me, letting me settle into my new home. I can get overwhelmed with too much petting and attention all at once. If you have room in your heart and home for me, please fill out an application to meet me.December 28, 2024, 3:54 pm

Story
Breed: Australian Shepherd DOB: 5/17/2014 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: long Size: large Color(s): blue merle Description:Hi, I'm Gracie, a gorgeous Australian Shepherd who is in need of a new home as a previously torn ACL which remains susceptible to re-injury has made my current two story home uninhabitable for me.I enjoy eating, sleeping, cuddling and chilling. I'm good with children and cats, although I might want to chase them, but just to play. I'm not good with other dogs inside or outside the home. I'm still active, but due to my previous injury I need to be in a single story home and my activity needs to be monitored. I tend to be anxious at times so I take  trazadone to help keep this under control. My owners let me sleep with them, I hope you will too.As you can see from my photos, I ride great in the car, I enjoy playing in the sprinklers and I've been to the snow. I know basic commands and I'm sure I could learn more.If you're interested in meeting me, please fill out an online application.June 23, 2024, 3:17 pm

MEET ROCKY, a 1-year-old Australian Kelpie in need of a foster or forever home! Rocky is a very affectionate dog who loves both humans and dogs alike! He weighs only 40 lbs., and is a loving boy. Kelpies are intelligent dogs, believed to have been descended from Border Collies. They love to be stimulated with walks and other activities. Rocky would do best in an active home where his person or people work from home, or are retired, as he loves company. He'd also thrive in a home with another dog, though it's not a necessity.
