Story
Introducing Zaida! This sweet girl came to AFRP after she was found along the side of a road where a good samaritan stopped to help her. Now, she's thriving in foster care and ready to find her forever home! Zaida is your typical active girl, very treat-motivated and loving as can be! Her favorite things are giving kisses, playing ball and going for walks. Zaida loves being around and playing with other dogs and loves being the center of attention! She thoroughly enjoys belly rubs and tennis balls... ESPECIALLY enjoys tennis balls. She's not an apartment pup and will require a fenced-in yard to ensure she's able to have some space to get all of that energy out! Her daily routine is playing with her foster sisters, running around the backyard and loves small and large breeds alike. She is learning more every day and is continuing working on training and socialization with other dogs. Zaida would do just fine in a home with adult adopters or with families with dog-savvy children over the age of six but can get excited at times and we don't want her knocking over littles! While in our care, Zaida has been diagnosed with idiopathic head tremor syndrome (IHTS), a benign condition characterized by focal head tremors of unknown cause. While this condition is not fully understood, Zaida's continuous head and body tremors are managed as part of her unique journey. Tremors do resolve over time, but some, such as Zaida, have continuous head and body tremors. Alongside this, Zaida is currently taking long-term medication to help alleviate symptoms of anxiety, as well as OCD. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our required online dog application.

Looks like: Border Collie mix Female, 5 years old (estimated), 45 pounds Miss Fern is a diamond in the rough. We can't wait to see Fern flourish in the right home. Sweet Fern is a little nervous when making new friends but given just a tiny bit of attention, she becomes fast friends with everyone she meets, never wanting to leave your side. We're quite obsessed with her whole body lean she does once comfortable. She's quite the charmer! Fern was found as a stray in a rural area of Monterey County and sadly no one came looking for her. We can't wait for this beautiful girl to bond with her people and blossom in time!

Story
Jane was adopted on April 20, 2019 in Denver Colorado. Her blood tests showed that she is primarily border collie. She’s always loved people and dogs and her only downfall was her overexcitement. During the day we both work and her and our other pup would stay home in the backyard. Jane began to jump the fence and get out of the yard while we were gone and we live near a busy street so there were some close calls with traffic. We tried a few things to keep her in but she is sneaky and could get out of a harness or collar and the invisible fence&collar also did not work. We heightened our fence and she still got over it. She has become aggressive toward some dogs especially when her fetch ball comes into it due to being caged up. Shes good with her lab brother and has never showed aggression toward our 1 and 4 year old kids. Shes a loving dog, we just want a better life for her and want her to be safe. She would make great pet for someone with room who is home often.

These pups are in Seaside, California too!

Story
I adopted him from the Salinas animal shelter. I believe he is about 4 - 4.5 years old. He needs a home that has no other pets, especially small. At least for now until he has resource guarding/reactivity training. He does get along with other dogs but needs to be monitored due to resource guarding food and toys. he does good as long as he is monitored and kept up with training, mental and physical exercise. He is a very energetic, intelligent, loving cuddle boy who aims to always please his owner. He will be your best friend if you let him. Spirit loves hiking and camping, just being outdoors in general. He would love to be your copilot on car rides, always sticking his head out the window. I want him to have the best life possible with someone that has much more time to spend one on one with him. He is a huge sweetheart and it hurts me to have to rehome him but its not the best situation for him with me right now.
