Story
Max is a 13, purebred classic border collie from working lines. He's neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. Max has a bit of a hitch in the giddyup but he still has plenty of get up & go, eager to go for a walk or whatever you are doing. He has some issues with rain/wind/storms and tends to hide, otherwise he is head-on-your knee loving attention! Max gets along with other dogs, kids & cats, but he will need some TLC in his senior years.

Story
Mia is an 11-1/2 year old, purebred border collie. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and weighs in a bit heavy right now, but she's working on it. Mia settled right into her foster home as if she'd been there for years. She is housetrained & used the dog door immediately. She is good on the leash, comes when she is called and knows the basic commands. She will give a warning over her food bowl or chew bone, but so far nothing more. She gets along with other dogs, cats, kids, loves belly rubs and attention. Mia will be a great companion for an active senior.

Story
Dobby is a great puppy who originally is from a shelter in the valley, rescued by Woods and adopted to a gal who was told she was "shy". Not quite. Dobby has a fear of humans that is taken to a level most people have no patience for. She loves dogs and needs to go to a home with at least one playful dog or more than one dog. She is aggression free and house trained and quiet. There is so much to be said for this beautiful young dog who deserves a knowledgeable home who can train her and earn her trust. Most of her traits are puppy like. She is good with cats.

Story
Border Collie mix, male puppyFIGGY is a gorgeous 8 mo/55lb male Border Collie puppy. He’s neutered, chipped, and up to date on vaccines. He’s ready for his forever home. As you may expect with any Border Collie, he is intelligent, sweet and friendly. He’s a touch apprehensive until he gets used to you, but he is well-adjusted and a very good boy. Figgy has been in foster since he was five weeks old. He’s the perfect age to adopt as he’s gotten through the most challenging parts of puppyhood, but he’s still young and impressionable. Figgy is crate trained, house trained (but still a puppy, so he needs carefully watching for cues that he needs to go out) and walks well on a leash. He likes to stick by his human’s side, and definitely has that border collie drive and eagerness to please. He walks himself back into his crate on command. Very treat motivated and loves to learn (great for training!). Hasn’t been tested with cats, but is very dog friendly. He needs a herding dog savvy home without young children, someone with the time and energy to train and socialize a young puppy, and who is looking for a lifelong companion. He would do well in a house with or without other dogs, but he’d do best in a house with dogs 30lbs+. Figgy is being fostered in Bakersfield. Story
Border Collie mix, female 4 years oldHi- I’m Roo! I’m doing great and making progress with my foster mom, Kim. She feeds me yummy things and takes me out on walks. Oh and she is very patient with me. I love when she has conversations with me, that really gets my tail going. I’ve been exploring more places in and out of the house, gaining exposure to as many things as possible, but my safe space is under Kim’s bed. Although, recently I tried on top of the bed and that was pretty cozy too. I am a 4 year old, female border collie that weights approximately 36lbs. Located in SoCal / OC area. Stay tuned as I continue to come out of my shell and blossom into the best girl.   Photos and updates:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1228281524800166&type=3 Interested in Roo?  Please fill out an application at: https://bit.ly/CCHDR_AppOctober 3, 2024, 5:02 pm

Story
Dexter is a spirited 2-year-old Queensland Heeler with a beautiful tan and white coat. He was surrendered by his previous owner but is now ready to find his forever home. Since arriving at the shelter on March 23, 2024, Dexter has shown that he’s full of energy and eager to explore the world.Dexter is a strong boy who loves his walks, though he’s still learning how to stay calm on a leash. He’s a smart dog who knows how to sit and is getting better every day at doing it on command. Dexter absolutely loves to play fetch—his eyes light up at the sight of a ball, and he’s always ready for a good game. He would thrive in an active household that can provide the structure, exercise, and playtime he craves. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s up for any adventure, Dexter is your guy! Come meet him at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services and see if he’s the perfect match for you!

Story
Hi, I'm Reese, a 2-year-old Australian Shepherd! I'm incredibly sweet and affectionate, and I love being around people. I have a gentle play style, and nothing makes me happier than playing with my favorite stuffies or carrying a blanket around in my mouth. Fetching a frisbee or ball is my absolute favorite game!I'm a bit nervous and unsure around other dogs, probably because I haven't had much chance to practice socializing with them. I have had fun playing with a few mellow, experienced dogs who understand when I need my space and respect my boundaries.I'm looking for a home where I can continue to learn and grow at my own pace. With my loving nature and playful spirit, I'm ready to bring joy and companionship to my new family. Can't wait to meet you!
