Lola is excellent with people and loves children, making her a perfect family addition. She's crate trained, housebroken, and leash trained, understanding commands like a pro. Lola was in a home where she wasn’t exposed to other dogs, which led to some excitement and reactivity on leash. She’s currently working through this and making great progress.

Hi there, my name is Sally! I`m about 9 years old, but don`t let that fool you, I still have lots of life left in me. I`m a gentle lady and I love my leisurely walks. My running and hiking days are behind me now, but a lovely stroll and some relaxing time with my human (s) would be ideal. I would love a soft landing in my Golden Years. If you think we could create some wonderful memories, please stop by SPARC to meet me. xo ~ Sally

Sonar is a 5 year old AKC/ABCA Border Collie. High energy, medium drive. Loves both toys and food. Loves water, fetch, tug, hikes and training. High prey drive. No kids, could live with small animals if managed appropriately. Dog friendly, but can come off strong. He loves to cuddle and lives to please his owner. He is a very sensitive dog and doesn't respond well to corrections, he needs someone who can be patient with him. Knows his basic obedience and has been started on advanced obedience. Crate trained, potty trained, leash trained, place trained. Does well with handling like touching his paws and checking mouth or ears. Sonar is a good boy and fun to work with, he needs someone who can make him their main focus. I have a google drive with all of our training, as well as various other pictures and videos, that can be sent over if interested.

Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Chino is a good dog for the right home, but he has two flaws: he doesn't care to share an environment with any other dogs, and he can escape from almost any confinement. Since we like Border Collies in general, and since he was "overdue" at his animal shelter one day when we were there picking up another dog, he was also chosen and saved. We quickly learned that the part of Chino that is not Border Collie is probably one of the tundra breeds like Malamute, because we had to fully enclose every inch of his kennel to keep him in. (This was after he escaped from four previous attempts to kennel him.) The good news is that after escaping he only wanted to stay by the side of his human friends here at the rescue, so he'll need a pretty much constant human companion. Chino is about 3 years old and weighs about 80 pounds.

Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Blissy is a 1-year-old (as of February 1, 2024) mixed breed pup whose owner had to relinquish her due to incompatibility with her other female dog, the "alpha" dog in the home. Blissy did well with the two male dogs, and in our experience here she has done well with another female that is not a dominant girl. We think she is probably Shepherd-Border Collie or some such mix, and she's incredibly smart. Blissy "play-nips" gently when excited, which makes us think Border Collie or some other herding breed may be in her gene pool. She's mostly housebroken, knows many commands (typically having to be told only once), aims to please, and loves long walks. Her ex-owner says Blissy "is an absolutely wonderful dog" whom she will greatly miss.

Story
Lizzy has a beautifully complex and diverse personality. She possesses a wide range of facets that cannot be adequately understood or described by a single quaility or trait. Incredibly sweet, sensitive and sometimes shy, she will quickly steal your heart. You can see the depth of her soul buried in her eyes and in the way she looks at you. Lizzy wants to make you her everything and craves getting that loyalty in return. Another layer of her personlity is her intelligence. She has mastered many of the basics and is eager to learn and to please. Inside a home she has done well, however due to her extended stay at the shelter she will need someone who is patience and understanding while she decompresses. Lizzy would most likely do best in a quiet home without a bunch of people in and ou or small children. She will sometimes gets excited on walks when she sees other dogs or bicycles on walks, but is generally easily redirected with vocal commands and a treat. In playgroups at the shelter she has not enjoyed the company of other dogs and would do best in a home free of other pets. Her favorite pastime is playing fetch in a yard followed by some snuggles and maybe a bone to chew on. She is also a great hiking buddy, ready to take on any challenge. With an endless amount of love to give, Lizzy will be a once and a lifetime dog to her new family.

Story
Meet FALCONQuiet gentle Falcon is part of a bonded pair with Olsa, who is most likely his daughter. They were left behind when the family moved away, and found themselves in our shelter, sad and confused. But they have each other and that seems to make all the difference! They have been in foster care for several months and are doing very well there.Falcon is about ten years old and about 53 pounds. He is a sweet gentle soul who doesn`t wanna cause any trouble. He loves going on walks around the neighborhood but otherwise is just happy to hang out. He is not fit enough for hikes or long walks however. The two of them are so easy that anybody who wants dogs that make few demands but are good company would be lucky to have these two. They are crate trained and love going on car rides as well and of course they are housebroken. They do great with other dogs and seemed scared when they met a cat. They are gentle with children.Falcon is extremely shy when he first meets people so you need to give him a chance to warm up to you. He will need multiple meetings and a patient person to give him time to build trust, and would need a gradual transition to a new home. Once he does, he will worship you and give you his absolute loyalty, seeking you out for affection and attention. He walks gently on leash but can be frightened by strangers approaching so he would need to be allowed to keep his distance.Olsa and Falcon are very attached to each other, and need to go together to a home with a secure yard and a patient family who will let them settle in and build trust at their own pace. The reward is two dogs who are affectionate, obedient, quiet, and easy to have around!
