Meet Riley! Riley's foster home cannot say enough good things about her. She's good on and off the leash, is housetrained and knows basic commands. She does well in the crate but doesn't need one, and does well with other dogs. Riley enjoys time outside and likes the water, but also loves some lazy time on the couch. Riley is even great with kids, and ignores the cat in her foster home. Call today to meet this perfect girl!

Story
🐶 🐕 CRUZ Male Border collie mix approximately 4 ½ - 5 years, 40 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Meet CRUZ, a handsome 4 ½ to 5-year-old, 40 pound, smooth-coated black-and-white boy with classic border collie markings. A sweet, happy boy, he immediately takes to people. In fact, his favorite place to be is with people. He needs nothing more than a human to pet him, and a lap in which to drop his head, to be content. He is comfortable and enjoys the outdoors, but CRUZ has a strong drive to be inside where he can be safe, warm (or cool), secure, and near his family. CRUZ can go from content-to-simply-hang-with-his-human to playing a rousing game of fetch in a finger-snap. Most times he will bring the ball back to you and drop it or let you take it from his gentle mouth. And when you tire of tossing, he switches off his BC boy energy and settles back into hang out mode, often joining his foster dad on the outside bench for cuddles and pets.   CRUZ likes toys and sticks, well, really, more like branches, and when our puppy Una was here, he had nonstop fun playing tug with her. He gets along well with all the other dogs in his foster home. Sometimes he can be a little forward in his play, so the temperament of the other dog(s) in his home will matter, though he seems naturally gentler with smaller dogs like our little chihuahua house guest. While he would enjoy the company of another dog, he’d really love to be the only one so he gets all the attention. He has become increasingly interested in the cats, and not in a good way. Cruz will need a cat-free environment. CRUZ has some medical issues. He is mildly incontinent (controlled with medication). CRUZ will also require a low protein diet. We are happy discuss these issues further, and we can even share lab results, particularly if you’d like to discuss with your veterinarian.  CRUZ is smart, having learned to negotiate the doggy door very quickly and to walk nicely on the short leash walks he takes in his foster home. He also enjoys longer walks and could be a good running partner. CRUZ is mostly praise, but also treat motivated, which should make his continued training fun. CRUZ is crate trained. He has made great progress on his housetraining. If you are looking for a devoted companion that loves to be loved on, a fun-loving boy who is a joy to train and play with, and love petting your pup, then please consider giving CRUZ his forever home. CRUZ is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about CRUZ, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration. CRUZ is fostering north of Corning in Tehama County, CA.

Story
🐶 🐕 PERKINS (aka PERK) Special Needs Male Border collie Mix 7 years, 52 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Hi, my name is Perkins – just call me Perk - and I am about 7 years young. My Mom thinks I am a Border collie mixed with some type of guardian dog because I watch over my family and pack mates. I have notified them TWICE of rattlesnakes in our yard, barking loudly while keeping my pack mates at a safe distance away. Mom says I am a hero dog, as we have little kids and lots of dogs in our yard that need protection from dangers like that. Mom says I am special needs because I have some incontinence issues. I don't really know what that means. I let Mom and Dad know when I have to go potty, but when I am done, Mom says I leak. We've tried some different medicines and diagnostics, and Dad agrees it really isn't bad. When I hear the Velcro separate on my diaper I know its “free time” in the house. I stand still until I feel that little pat on my backside to signal it’s secure. Mom uses washable diapers, but I would probably do fine with other types as well. I don't like leaving my homestead, so when it's time for my checkup I get something special to help me relax. Everyone at the Vet’s office loves me and tells me what a good boy I am. Speaking of love, I love to chase a tennis ball. I may or may not bring it back depending on my whim at that moment. I also love to eat. Give me food, give me treats, YAY. I sit nice for my meals, which I always eat in my crate. I sleep quietly in my crate, but it's not my favorite place, and I will warn you if strangers are lurking outside because that’s my job. Oh, if you have that white stuff that’s cold, wet, and covers the ground that would be fun. I had a blast the one time it “snowed” here, that’s what my hoomans called it. Dad says he took the cutest video ever when I kept poking my nose out the doggy door, then retreated because what the heck is that? But once I was nudged out the door we had so much fun. I have been with my foster Mom and Dad for a few years and have helped with many of the other dogs and puppies that have come through our home, but I would also be fine as an only dog. I do enjoy playing at the other dog’s level. I wrestle with Skittles, because she is my size and she can take it, but I am gentIe with smaller dogs, or dogs not interested in that sort of thing. I am super friendly and loyal once I get to know you. I can be very vocal when I want something or when I am trying to warn you about something. I tolerate Mom's inside cats, but I don't like any cats in my yard. Mom says I need a cat-free environment for their benefit as well as mine (whatever that means). If you think you would be interested in me, and would like to learn even more about what makes me special, please submit an application so you can talk to my foster mom and dad (because we all know dogs can’t talk). Thank You, Perk PERKINS is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Story
🐕 🐕 JAGGER is 4 months, 19 pounds, Border collie / Queensland Heeler Mix and #AVAILABLE – for more pictures please click https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐕 Check out Jagger’s video here https://youtu.be/NOajEwG0OxE JAGGER is a darling 19-pound 4-month-old Queensland Heeler puppy who will steal your heart. Born at the end of May 2024, JAGGER is playful, sassy, athletic and a cuddlebug with his foster brother RIN. This is a puppy with lots of energy for fun and games, and maybe a little mischief! He is most happy when he can lead the pack in a game of chase, wrestle while RIN lies on the floor, or nap near your feet or with his buddies. JAGGER is very athletic, having no problem in jumping up on things that are much higher than him - the bed, the couch, and more! A fast learner, JAGGER will love to learn new things that will make him think as well as play & exercise. JAGGER has beautiful markings including ticking interspersed throughout. He might enjoy dog sports like agility, or canine scentwork (aka nosework). He will want to be with you, doing things together that you will both enjoy. He connects beautifully with people, but she can also play with toys on his own. JAGGER has had lots of visitors in his foster home, & he has been charming to one & all. His foster home also has two visiting cats and JAGGER gets along well with them, seeing them as potential playmates. JAGGER doesn’t yet have a firm grasp of housebreaking, but that should come together once he has one-on-one, consistent direction from you. JAGGER eats in his crate and sleeps in a crate with RIN (their choice). It’s pretty cute to see them cuddled up and ready for bed each night. JAGGER is current on vaccinations, as well as heartworm and flea/tick prevention. He are microchipped. As a condition of puppy adoption, he will need to be altered by their new owner when they reach approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Application and wish to enquire (or apply here - https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) about the pups, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.
