Story
Volley is a 4 year old, 27 pound Border Collie / cattledog blend. She has excellent leash manners, and is very gentle when accepting a treat. She is an affectionate girl who really enjoys being brushed, and is very generous with kisses. She's an active girl who likes to play, and will reward you with a play bow, in exchange for a treat! She'll do best in a home where she is your only canine companion. She seems to be cautious around men so she'll do best in a female only home. Volley is enjoying being spoiled by one of our amazing foster homes, and will be at the adoption center on Saturdays from 10am-4pm. You may also email Debbie@AzFriends.org to arrange a weekday meet and greet. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Story
We're blessed to have had Jaxx for 7 years, he just turned 8 in October. We would love to find him a home with a senior seeking a companion, a couple, a person with another dog, or a family. Jaxx is incredibly patient and kind. We have 2 young children and he has been nothing but sweet despite their playful curiosities that sometimes end in accidental tugs. Unfortunately my youngest daughter has an allergy we've tried everything for and we're unable to keep him, but we're optimistic he will find the perfect home with you. As I said, Jaxx is incredibly patient with kids, does great with other dogs at the dog park, and walks/jogs well on a leash (though not as fast as when he was a younger dog). He would love to snuggle in bed with you if you desire that, however, if that is not comfortable for you, he is also so happy on his own comfy bed. He has an incredible ability to attune and understand what the house rules are (i.e.- kitchen is a boundary, etc.) and is an emotional companion

Story
PO is a beautiful 10 month old pup with 2 different color eyes and a curly tail. He is up to date on his shots but not yet neutered. He is very energetic and Loves to play. PO needs more exercise, attention and training than he is able to get in his current situation. PO is crate trained but he is in his crate a lot and needs someone who can spend more time with him. He needs to be monitored when not in his crate as he gets into everything but he is a still just a puppy even though he’s a big pup. He will have a potty accident if not out long enough to do his business. We are really hoping there is someone who can give him the home that he needs.

Story
Lou is a very smart boy and knows tons of tricks/commands! He loves learning and completing tasks, even in his adult years. He is extremely food motivated and loves cuddles. He loves cats and people, but has some reactivity and food aggression towards other dogs. He’s a homebody and has never been much of an outdoor guy, but will happily join you for a car ride! Ideally he would have a backyard so he has some private space to run around in. He isn’t destructive and has always been great about going potty outside. He even knows how to ring his bells to be let outside. He is crate trained as well. I got him with my ex and I just don’t have the resources to take care of him alone. He’s a wonderful companion and I just want him to have a better life. He’s eager to learn and please, and I know he would thrive in a better environment. Let me know if you think Lou would be a good fit for you! I can answer any questions you may have.

Story
We got lily as kind of a temporary foster from another lady. We quickly determined she has likely suffered abuse at some point and didn't feel comfortable giving her back. We considered keeping her, but my daughter and I are severely allergic to her (unlike our other dogs), so it's unsustainable to keep her. She is s very sweet dog, very calm, does fine with all our other animals and our 4 kids. She knows few command and wasn't house trained, but we have house trained her, crate trained her, trained her with a dog door, and taught her simple commands (we have had her less than a month). She is a very smart dog and very sweet. She clearly has anxiety related to prior treatment and is afraid of tall/heavier set people. She quickly bonded with my daughter though and sleeps with her at night. She growls when new people come near but once she smells them she calms down.

Story
MEET  LADY!!! This sweet, shy gal is an absolute love. She will truly melt your heart. She is a super sweet, precious girl.  She is still learning that humans are kind and can be timid, but she will warm up to people in small amount of time.  Lady is always smiling and wagging her tail! She cautiously accepts pets and is learning how to cuddle. She will do well with another playful dog that can show what it's like to be part of a family. So another dog will be important in her new home. She's also good with cats~! Any kids in the home should be older, as younger ones (none under teen) would be too scary for our sweet girl.   If you are interested in meeting this dog, please visit our website for our online application www.underdogaz.com    If you are interested in meeting this dog, please visit our website for our online application www.underdogaz.com   November 5, 2024, 10:01 pm

Story
🌟 Meet Kydden, the bundle of energy with a heart full of love! 🐾 Affectionately known as Kiddin', this gorgeous six-year-old girl is on the lookout for her forever home, and she's got a personality as vibrant as her spirit. Kydden is a people enthusiast, spreading joy to everyone she meets. With her high energy levels, she's searching for an active family to keep up with her zest for life. While she's a love bug, her exuberance might be a bit much for tiny tots, so a home without small children is recommended. This spirited pup marches to the beat of her own drum and prefers to be the solo star in the canine show. Dog reactive but kitty-friendly, Kydden's looking for a forever home where she can shine without sharing the spotlight. Smarty pants alert! Kydden aced her obedience training, although the distractions from other pups didn't earn her valedictorian status. A strong pack leader is just what she needs to help her stay focused and on the right track. Kydden has battled anxiety, but with patience, love, and a dash of training, she's made incredible strides. She's been a trooper in boarding and kennel situations, proving she's ready for a loving home where she can truly flourish. While her stance on swimming is uncertain, she's been known to enjoy a refreshing dip in the doggie pool—a true tropical pup at heart! If you're ready for a lively companion who's equal parts fun and affection, Kydden is your girl. Email ADOPT@VALLEYDOGS.ORG to see if you're the perfect match for this wonderful, energetic sweetheart! 🐶💖

Story
Meet Yo-Yo.. aka Goat! He was 1 of the 8 dogs that was lucky enough to fly to the US from Costa Rica to get a new chance at life. He has been in foster care since May of 2023!  Yo-Yo is left with neurological issues per the Costa Rica sanctuary that he came from. You can see this when he walks. His name fits his personality perfectly! He acts like a goat nibbling on everything. He is a goof ball who's extremely loveable. He does great with all the dogs he is with in his foster home and his great with the  kids in the home. He loves to snuggle blankets and his peanut butter kongs! We suggest a home with kids older than 8 because he can at times resource guard his bones and food.  Yo-Yo has incontinence so he does wear a belly band in his foster home. He does not usually have an issue and maybe has 2-3 small spots a day if the band is off.  We believe him to be a cattle dog mix who deserves a very special home of his own!  If you are interested in Yo-Yo, please fill out an application. A meet/greet and home check is required. His adoption fee is $250.November 9, 2024, 10:53 am

Jojo is a 1 year old, 50-ish pound Cattledog blend boy who joined us recently from Yuma. He can be nervous in overstimulating environments, and will do best in a patient situation where he can adjust and learn. Once in a calmer setting, he is a very playful boy, who loves to run and play with tennis balls! He has excellent leash manners, is very treat motivated, knows basic commands, including "sit," "wait," and "come," and checks in with his handler frequently.
