Story
Newt was born in Oregon on a cattle farm. I adopted him when he was two years old and he’s about 6 now. Birthday is April 1st! He’s traveled all over the country with me and has been a great adventure partner. My family unexpectedly grew with a kiddo and I can no longer give Newt the time and attention he deserves. He needs a daily walk and lots of encouragement to not get into the trash while you’re not home… He is obsessed with cats and if you have one I don’t think it would be a good fit. He will follow the cat around and cling to them 24/7 and behave strangely (I think it’s his herding instincts) he has done this before with chickens and ducks too. He loves to play fetch and loves to play with other dogs. So far he has been great with my kiddo, but I think a couple or a single person who can give him lots of attention will be the best fit for Newt! Thanks for reading about Mr. Newt! He is also very polite and doesn’t bark. He is house trained but he will get into the trash

These pups are in Palmer, Alaska too!

Story
Grizz was recently returned to the shelter through no fault of his home, unfortunately his owners` children had dog allergies. Grizz is an active dog who will thrive best with having a positive outlet for his energy. He has been on a couple Miles for Mutts outings and is always excited to go on an adventure! He loves everything about the great outdoors and could make such a great companion to an active person! He loves toys and is happy to play a good game of tug too. Grizz was reported to have great manners in his previous home. He is potty trained and will scratch at the door when he needs to go out. He is also crate trained and was originally crated when alone because he was a counter surfer but his most recent owner had no issues with leaving him free in the home when alone! Grizz can be excited on a leash but typically calms down after he gets his wiggles out. He knows the cues “sit”, “stay”, “come” “ drop it” and “treat”. Grizz is a people pleaser and loves to learn! Physical exercise is of course great, but he will also appreciate mental stimulation in the form of enrichment! We imagine him being great at dog puzzles. Grizz is very snuggly and cuddly. He loves spending quality time with his people and is happy to be included in whatever it is you`re doing! Grizz is very excitable around the small critters and will try to chase them, he should not be adopted into a home with small animals, this includes cats! Grizz has done well with other dogs and enjoys playing. We can always provide a dog meet and greet prior to adopting if needed! Grizz did great with the children in his previous home. He was reported to be gentle and loves all the pets and attention! If you feel that your home would be a good fit for Grizz, we would love for you to come by and meet him.
