Story
I adopted Ramona from the Humane Society a few months ago, looking for a companion for my current cat. Ramona is young, around 2 years old, and had just recovered from having a litter of kittens. She had been feral previously, but is very receptive to human attention and affection once she feels safe around you. Ramona took a liking to me quickly, and showed off her playful/curious side, as well as her snuggly/affectionate side. She often hangs out with me at my desk while I'm working, will crawl into my lap as she pleases, and follows me around the house. However, not long after I introduced the two cats to one another, Ramona made it clear that she was not as receptive to cats as she was to humans. After a couple of months of anxious and territorial behavior, I made the decision to separate them again, and almost immediately Ramona's behavior improved. It breaks my heart that my home isn't the home for her, but I know that whoever ends up with her will have a best friend for life.
