Meet Shorty Duke! I’m a shy guy, so a quiet home would be ideal for me and please let me come to you first. The staff and volunteers have been working with me on leash training and building my confidence, so I’ll need more help once I’m home. I may need help with potty training. I can be protective of my food or toys; it`s recommended I work with a qualified trainer and a mature home is required. Get a free consulation with staff prior to my adoption!

With his sweet and shy demeanor, Tate can often be found standing curiously at the front of his kennel, hoping someone will come by to show him a little love.Though he’s a bit shy with touch right now, Tate’s curiosity is his guiding light, helping him warm up to new experiences and people fairly quickly. He just needs to know that he is safe and loved. Tate does wonderfully outside in the yard, where he enjoys sniffing around and exploring his new world at his own pace. He has started to get comfortable walking on leash, but gets scared sometimes and will need some work on that in his new home.Tate will thrive in a calm and patient home where he can slowly grow into the loyal companion he’s meant to be. He prefers to be an only dog, so meetings with another dog will be considered on a case-by-case basis and involve a meeting with his potential sibling.Are you ready to offer Tate the loving and supportive environment he deserves? This little guy is eager to find his forever home where he can blossom into the best friend you’ve been waiting for.- - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Meet Nemo, a shy and cautious 10-pound miniature poodle who is still learning to trust the world around him. Though he’s friendly, Nemo prefers to keep a bit of distance from people right now and isn’t quite ready for pets, especially from strangers. He finds his greatest comfort in the company of other dogs and enjoys observing the fun in the playgroup from the sidelines rather than jumping into the action.Nemo is still learning how to walk on a leash, and having a more confident dog friend in his new home will be essential to help him navigate this big, new world. With time and patience, Nemo seems like a dog who’s searching for that special “person” to bond with, and once he finds them, he will likely become a loyal, loving companion.
