To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: 1.5 years (as of 12/27/24) Weight: 49 lbs (as of 2/6/25) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Mikayla, a young, sweet, friendly, gentle, playful, and smart dog. Her personality is as bright as a summer's day, radiating warmth and joy to everyone she meets. Mikayla recently stepped into the role of motherhood, handling her new responsibilities with grace and patience. She did a great job raising her pups, by giving them lots of love and attention and now that they are ready for their fur-ever homes, it's Mikayla's turn for happiness. She has a heart that seems to know no bounds, extending her love to other dogs, cats, and children. She can be cautious around some dogs and may need a slow introduction.  She may bark at other dogs while on leash.  Mikayla is crate trained and needs a little work on housetraining and walking on the leash. Playful yet gentle, Mikayla is the perfect blend of fun and tranquility. She is a smart girl and basic group training classes are recommended to help her learn commands, socialize with other humans and dogs, as well as build that fur-ever bond with you! Her heart is as big as her personality, and she is ready to share it with a family who will cherish her as much as she will cherish them. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. Story
Hi my name is Human League, but my foster parents call me Hugh for short! I am almost 16 weeks old.  My foster parents say I am adorable and docile. I get along with all animals small and big. I’m working on my potty training. I like to have my crate in my foster parents room, that way I sleep all throughout the night. Right now I love prancing in the snow and often get big bursts of zooooomies. I love to play with my doggy siblings and my plushies. My foster parents think I would be a great addition to a family with kids to entertain and love me!March 1, 2025, 2:39 pm

Meet Blue: Your New Best Friend! Blue is a sweet and loving 5.5-year-old boy who’s ready to brighten your days with his playful spirit and endless affection. Why You'll Love Blue: - Adventure Buddy Extraordinaire: Just touch his leash, and you'll see him burst with excitement—he loves walk time! - Car Rides & Pup Cups: Blue adores car rides, and a stop for a pup cup will earn you endless love and gratitude. - Outdoor Enthusiast: Whether he’s frolicking in the snow, fetching a big stick, or enjoying a stroll, Blue is happiest when he’s outside. The Perfect Cuddle Companion: After an adventurous day, Blue loves nothing more than resting his head in your lap or leaning against you on the sofa for a cozy cuddle. Talented and Fun: Blue will give you his paw for treats and even enjoys toweling off after a rainy walk—it’s all part of the fun for this special pup! Blue’s Dream Home: Blue is looking for a loving forever home where he can share cuddles, playtime, and endless love with his new family. Blue was hit by a car as a puppy and this resulted in some hind end weakness but this doesn't dampen his spirit. If you’re ready to make Blue part of your family, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting this link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Blue can’t wait to meet you! 🐾 The adoption fee is $350. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Barnaby is looking for a foster or forever home. *PLEASE NOTE: Barnaby is looking for a home without other animals or children. We understand that this narrows his foster or forever home options but we never make exceptions when certain behaviors are a safety concern. He is safe with us and is NOT in danger of being euthanized.* Please review the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we get about Barnaby: 1. Barnaby cannot be placed with other animals or children because he has a prey drive and has guarding issues. 2. We have consulted trainers. Local trainers can absolutely message us about the possibility of working with him further. 3. We do not need to move him to another rescue or shelter and he is safe on site with us until he can be placed. Bloodhound specific rescues can absolutely message us. 4. He goes out with trained volunteers and staff members and is not confined to a cage 24/7. He goes on long walks and gets play time in our fenced in backyard. Barnaby is one of our longest residents. It’s so sad to keep posting him, begging for someone to give him a chance, and having no one even apply. He’s losing his spark and we really need your help networking him so the right potential adopter sees his post. Our team is OBSESSED with this velvet eared hunk & we know an adult family that understands his breed will be, too! Barnaby was born on 7/17/22 and is a Bloodhound mixed breed. He requires a dog savvy family with experience with large dogs. He’s a VERY good boy that just needs to find the right people. He is up to date on vaccinations and has been neutered. Please consider opening your home to this very deserving dog. *PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO STRINGENT OUT OF STATE HEALTH CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS WE ARE NOW ONLY ADOPTING TO RHODE ISLAND RESIDENTS*. We apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, due to past issues with landlords/housing/insurance, a restricted breed policy is in place for Bully breed/Pit Bull type dogs. This means that you must own your home and provide proof of homeownership to adopt a Bully breed/Pit Bull dog or puppy. While we understand that this may be an inconvenience, it is necessary to help reduce the number of devastated dogs being returned. We apologize for the inconvenience. HOW TO GO ABOUT ADOPTING: 1. Come in during adoption hours to apply and full out an application completely. We have applications on site. Open adoption hours take place at 44 Worthington Road in Cranston, RI. We are open every Wednesday 3-7pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. 2. We require proof of homeownership (tax form, deed, mortgage statement) or landlord approval (a copy of your lease that clearly states you are allowed to have a dog, puppy, cat, or kitten OR written and signed consent from your landlord. 3. We require copies of up to date vet records for any current pets. Helpful reminders: *We do not do same day adoptions. *Please bring the entire family in to meet the animal you are interested in. *We will setup a meet and greet with your dog at a later date. PLEASE do not bring your dog with you when you come in to apply.
