Ready to share warmth and companionship, he's a loyal friend for life. He has a very hound-like goofy personality who never meets a stranger. He loves all people and will make a great companion! The adoption fee is $325, with an additional $200 required for transportation. Please note that at the moment, this adorable pet is in the care of a foster home in Tennessee but will be lovingly transported to your location once the adoption process is successfully completed. CAPTAIN is the most beautiful boy inside and out! We think he's a Blue Tick Hound & Blue Heeler mix who is just about 2 years old and weighs 32 pounds (he could use another few pounds on him too). He was found as a stray and we rescued him but it's clear he was once owned by someone because he's fully house-trained, crate-trained and loves people and other dogs. He's living with a great Foster family who have 3 dogs (ages 2-11) and he loves them all. He's smaller than most hounds and he's not a big barker which is a huge plus. He also has the most soulful eyes. His Foster Mom says " He's such a good boy! He gets along great with my 3 dogs...it's really cute, he likes being part of a pack, you can just tell. He is energetic and playful and LOVES a squeaky toy but also likes to relax on the couch. He walks decently on a leash...pulls a little but not much and really loves being out on a walk and sniffing around. He's very affectionate and smart. He learned our routine in a day and goes in his crate on command." Captain will thrive with an active family and would be a great running partner too. Ideally, he'd have a doggie sibling and a fully fenced in yard to play in. He'll be such a great dog for a loving active family. If you are looking for a cuddle buddy, Atlas is the guy for you. His unique looks and amazingly sweet and inquisitive personality are products of his rich breed mixture. Atlas (also known as "Mr. Steal Your Heart and Pillow") enjoys long walks, short car rides, exploring, cooling off in creeks, lounging around the house, playing tug, unstuffing plush toys, wrestling and playing the bitey face game with his doggy sibling, cuddling in bed, and anything else that allows him to spend time with his family. At almost 3 years old, he has outgrown most undesirable puppy behaviors, but is still an active boy who requires adequate exercise. He does well with children and other dogs. He has done well with cats! He likes to lead walks and can be overly eager to meet new dog friends, so some training in those areas is recommended. He also gets overwhelmed in busy settings and sometimes experiences stranger danger so it is advised to avoid crowded settings unless addressed by a trainer. He is overnight crate trained, but he becomes anxious when left in the crate for extended periods of time during the day so his ideal home would have a pet parent who is home for the greater part of the day. Atlas is learning how to pull carts. He is a very smart dog and seeks to please his owners. Atlas is house/potty trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives.
