Story
Duke is a loving guy who weighs just under 70lbs.  He is a sweetheart.  Shy at first but once he opens his heart, he will totally capture yours! His playfulness and energy does not show his age.  He's still got all the pep in his step and loves to play!  Tug of War is his favorite game.  He loves to chase balls and zoom around the yard like a puppy at times.  Duke loves sunbathing, walks great on a leash and does well in the car.  Snacks are definately one of his favoritest things ever. Duke is crate trained, potty trained, knows basic commands and even does well getting his nails done and visiting the vet.He is very treat and toy motivated and it brings him much joy to make his humans happy! NO CATS or small animals for Duke please.  He does well with other, friendly dogs with slow introduction.  He can have intense, playful energy but for the right dog, would make a great companion.  Duke would also be more than happy being the only pet in the home.  Duke prefers older (if any) children.  The "chaos" that sometimes comes with smaller children in a home, make him nervous and he will try to get away from them.  He does great with older or more experienced children. He loves to share the bed with his people, and will always let you know if there is a stranger at the gate or someone at the door!  Duke is big, strong and often clumsy, but he is also a love and a joy to spend time with. He is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped.  Duke is heartworm negative and on ProHeart 12 for heartworm prevention. He is totally set until November 2025! If you're interested in meeting Duke or would like to learn more about him, please visit our website or submit an application for adoption!  http://www.MarleighsFriends.org/ ##1177850##

Story
Hi! I'm Sapphire! I'm an approximately 3 year old, female, Blu Lacy/Lab mix who weighs about 65lbs. I am a sweet and social girl who loves people! I appear to get along with other dogs but if you have a friend for me at home, a meet and greet is encouraged to make sure we get along. My adoption fee is $125. I am spayed, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccine and basic boosters, and I am heartworm negative! If you are interested in making me the newest member of your family, please visit https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ to fill out an application and RAC staff will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet!  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Story
Duchess was in a small, high kill shelter when we came across her information. Her eyes were so infected she couldn’t open them and the shelter had posted her as being blind. Our vet discovered that Duchess doesn’t produce tears and the chronic dry eye had been untreated so long her corneas were damaged and infected. This sweet girl was so shut down initially she had to remember what a special dog she is. We are trying our best to save her eyes, she gets 2 types of medicated drops twice a day and artificial tears as often as possible. She’s learned to let her foster clean her eyes and is good about getting her drops. She’s able to see now although not as well as we hope she can as we progress. She will need eye drops ongoing. Duchess now plays with the other dogs in her foster home and enjoys running around her yard. Her very favorite thing is getting attention and spending time with her humans. She just wants to totally devote herself to her human and take care of her family. This girl is a wonderful Doberman and an ambassador for the breed. She is house trained, can use a doggie door or ask to go outside if she doesn't have one. She is fine being left home alone or with her canine friends but would rather go wherever her human is going. She’s great going for rides and would be the perfect travel companion. Duchess is fully vetted - current with vaccines, spayed, on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and is microchipped.

Story
We call her Orphan Annie since we found her abandoned on a hiking trail. Sort of amazing now that we have gotten to know her and that she stayed in one place long enough to be rescued.Annie is probably a Stubby Tail Cattle Dog, very much an Australian Cattle Dog with an emphasis on being active and engaged. Annie is typical of the herding breed, meant to nip at others to direct where to go. For this reason, she would not be good in a home with young children and is the kind of girl who needs a job.Annie loves being active and into everything. She usually has two speeds, sleeping, and full blast; unless she is one-on-one with her human when she is totally engaged. She is smart and would be a terrific girl to train for just about any high activity - herding, agility, anything that keeps her thinking and able to get praise for doing the right thing. This beautiful, compact girl will give back 200 percent and is capable of complex tasks; high endurance and willingness to please. If you need a working companion to be part of your everyday life you could not find a better match. She is fully vetted, microchipped, spayed, and current with her flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Toast will never say no to endless cuddles & belly rubs. She is also very energetic, playful & especially silly. Perfect mix of both cuddly and playful! Toast is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and are on heartworm prevention.  If you are interested in adopting one of these adorable pups, complete an online adoption today at: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/ and the foster will be in touch asap.  DOB: 7/22/2024 Weight: Approx 35-45 lbs when full grown This group of 6 pups were abandoned in a park and a teacher with e Vet Med program at a local Prosper HS took them in to help find them homes. They reached out to LHS for assistance getting them vetted and placing them in forever homes, while also working on this wonderful animal care school project! Puppies are all working on their house training and crate training. Because they are just pups, they will need a home with the time and patience to teach them how to be the best doggies they can be. Because they are a herding breed, they are not recommended to be adopted to homes with small children as they will herd the children instinctively and many miss interpret this as nipping and or aggressive behavior. But in reality, it is what they are bred to do. They do wonderful with cats and dogs and all shapes and sizes.    We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.
