Unfortunately, through no fault of her own, she has found her way back to us and is now looking for her forever family. Mellie has had a rough adjustment period and is understandably scared and unsure of her new surroundings, but with patience and love, we know she’ll blossom once again.Mellie is housetrained, crate-trained, and well-behaved indoors. She’s described as a fantastic traveler and camper who will follow her person like a shadow. While she’s not overprotective, Mellie can become attached to her humans and will thrive in a home where she feels secure and loved.Mellie does best in a calm and structured environment. She can be anxious when her routine is disrupted, and while she’s not aggressive with people, she has shown unpredictable behavior with other dogs in certain situations. She would likely do best as the only dog in the home or with a slow introduction to compatible canine companions.She has completed obedience training and knows commands like fetch—she’s even been described as the best fetcher ever! Mellie loves playing with balls and other toys but doesn’t chew on anything that isn’t hers. She’s also very food-motivated and eats twice a day, enjoying half a cup of her food per meal.Mellie has been on Trazodone to help manage her anxiety, which could be continued under the guidance of a vet. She’s fully vaccinated, spayed, and up-to-date on all her medical care.If you’re looking for a loyal and affectionate companion who will stick by your side through life’s adventures, Mellie might just be the perfect dog for you.
