He loves to play with every toy in the basket and will happily self-entertain for hours. He is looking for a family who will continue his training to help him build his confidence to be his best selfJamie gets along well with other dogs after proper intros, and would be fine with or without a canine sibling. With his gentle disposition, he would likely be fine in a house with dog savvy cats. Jamie has not yet met children, but would likely bask in their affection and pets. He is a bit clumsy and doesn’t always remember his size, so dog savvy children would be best for him. He is food motivated and eager to please, already learning "sit” and “crate” while working on “paw”, “wait” and “down”. Jamie is fully house and crate trained. He cues at the door when he needs to go potty. Jamie is crated overnight and for a few hours during the day. He may whine for a few minutes but settles quickly. Jamie is making great progress on his leash skills and enjoys his daily walks around the neighborhood. His adorable pout and goofy personality will surely have you falling in love with him in no time- is he the one for you? Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at www.lasthopek9.org.November 20, 2024, 2:04 am

Story
We are OBSESSED with Barnaby's new headshot. If this doesn't get him adopted, we don't know what will. Our velvet eared hunk can't wait to meet his new family. He is another VERY long term resident that is patiently waiting in a cage. He is a handsome, 2 year old, male, Bloodhound mixed breed. Barnaby Jones is the face of resilience and we REALLY need your help finding him a forever home. Barnaby requires a dog savvy family with experience. He is good with other dogs (pending a successful meet and greet) but would prefer a home without cats. His ideal home would not have children under 12 (he's a big guy and we don't want him knocking your kids over when he runs in slow motion like a Bay Watch actor). He is up to date on vaccinations and has been neutered. Photo 1: Traer Scott Photography *PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO STRINGENT OUT OF STATE HEALTH CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS WE ARE NOW ONLY ADOPTING TO RHODE ISLAND RESIDENTS*. We apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, due to past issues with landlords/housing/insurance, a restricted breed policy is in place for Bully breed/Pit Bull type dogs. This means that you must own your home and provide proof of homeownership to adopt a Bully breed/Pit Bull dog or puppy. While we understand that this may be an inconvenience, it is necessary to help reduce the number of devastated dogs being returned. We apologize for the inconvenience. HOW TO GO ABOUT ADOPTING: 1. Come in during adoption hours to apply and full out an application completely. We have applications on site. Open adoption hours take place at 44 Worthington Road in Cranston, RI. We are open every Wednesday 3-7pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. 2. We require proof of homeownership (tax form, deed, mortgage statement) or landlord approval (a copy of your lease that clearly states you are allowed to have a dog, puppy, cat, or kitten OR written and signed consent from your landlord. 3. We require copies of up to date vet records for any current pets. Helpful reminders: *We do not do same day adoptions. *Please bring the entire family in to meet the animal you are interested in. *We will setup a meet and greet with your dog at a later date. PLEASE do not bring your dog with you when you come in to apply.
