Meet Jake, a year old Doberman mix. He`s fun and terrific and silly and goofy. He`s still very much in the puppy phase. Since he`s a goofy baby, getting him transitioned into a new home and learning the rules will take some up front effort, but once he locks in, it’ll be great. He`s a smart boy and will be a great companion. He`s the type of dog who will be your best hiking buddy, and after the hike will be happy to lay nearby for a nice nap.5/9/26 Jake was at an outside event and became pretty aggitated with kids 10 and younger and with small dogs. because he is young and a big puppy with no training, he will need some extra training and reassurance that there is nothing to fear from these two groups. He will also need a strong handler who is aware of this and is able to guide and train him correctly and safely. ------------------------------4/30 from Jake`s latest day hike:He rides in the car like a champ (lays right down, allowing me to see out the rear window). He waits for me to give the signal before exiting the vehicle, which is incredible. Jake is amazing on the leash. Initially (the first 20 minutes), he`s a bit of a frustrated greeter, playfully barking at every dog he sees. I know he wants to play, but the other human does not, so we give them a lot of extra space. Eventually, he settled in and stopped barking (but never stopped hoping). Two people approached me (the Adopt Me vest works wonders) to talk about Jake and the shelter. He is a great shelter ambassador : well mannered, calm, and sweet. I would like to work him into the regular walking routine.

Sweet and loving, she likes people and dogs (and even tested well with cats), is very friendly and would love a chance to be a part of your family! Story
4 year old, 70lb Tilly found herself at North Central Shelter in March of 2026. She came in with a microchip, meaning she had a possible owner, but nobody came to claim her. In dog playgroups and with volunteers, Tilly was described as gentle, tolerant, and friendly with people and dogs. Due to stress in her kennel, she became at risk of euthanasia so our team at Dog Coalition sprung into action and with the help of a dedicated foster were able to get her into a foster home in April. Tilly is a gentle soul blossoming more and more with each passing day. Since coming into foster care, this beautiful girl has been winning hearts left and right with her calm nature and growing love of cuddles. She took to crate training immediately and considers the crate her own cozy sanctuary. She even loves sleeping in it overnight! Tilly is also working on her leash and walking skills with her signature calm and good behavior. We have no doubt she'll be a lovely walking companion in no time. Tilly shares her foster home with two smaller, more relaxed dog sisters, and she fits in perfectly with their laid-back energy. Her play style is dainty and considerate, always matching the energy of the other dogs. She has also been slowly and carefully meeting her cat foster siblings, and so far she's showing calm curiosity without any signs of prey drive or aggression. We believe she would do well in a home with dog and/or cat siblings! She loves finding the sunniest spot in the yard to soak in. Whether she's napping in a warm patch of sunlight or rolling over for a belly rub with someone she trusts, this girl knows how to enjoy the good life. She is warming up to new people faster and faster every day, and once she decides you're her person, she'll give you the whole belly. What You Should Know About Tilly: - A gentle, sweet girl who grows more confident and loving with each new day - Dainty, considerate, and playful with other dogs - Showing promising, calm behavior around cats. Could potentially thrive in a multi-pet home. - A certified sun-bather and belly rub enthusiast (once she trusts you, it's belly rubs on demand!) - Crate trained and loves her cozy space, which will help her transition to a new home - Could be nice for a couple or family looking for a well-balanced dog to take on adventures and hang out at home with!
