Story
Hi, I'm Everest and I am so glad you are taking a look at me. I am a sweet boy who takes a bit of time to warm up to new people. I'm down for an adventure or a cuddle on the couch. While I may be missing an eye, I am still full of love and energy! I would love a home where I can become confident and learn! One thing about me is that I am a foodie!!! Chicken, cheese, freeze-dried, and more! I do not discriminate. Other things I like: Giving kisses Playing Doggy friends Napping As a puppy, I am starting to learn my basic manners like sit, down, and touch. I'm no expert yet, but I keep going! I would love to keep learning with you! If it sounds like we would be a good match, I would love to meet you! Everest is an all-star dog, and his adoption appointment includes a discussion with the training team, as well as a few enrichment goodies to help get you both off to a good start. To learn more about Everest or to schedule an appointment to meet him, please email info@ahconnects.org (including your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to assist you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Story
Hi, I'm Pike and I am so glad you are taking a look at me. Pike is a sweet, thoughtful pup with a heart full of curiosity, yet a soul that craves a slower, more reflective pace of life. With every new experience, he takes his time, processing and building his confidence one step at a time. While some pups rush in, Pike prefers to observe, learn, and approach the world at his own pace-he knows that growth takes time. This gentle boy thrives in the company of humans, forming deep bonds with those who give him the space and patience to blossom. Whether cuddling up for a nap or enjoying a quiet walk through the neighborhood, Pike's happiest when surrounded by love and understanding. His curiosity about the world might be tempered by a careful nature, but when he's ready, Pike takes the most joyful leaps-especially with a trusted human by his side. Slow and steady wins the race for Pike, and as he builds his confidence, he becomes more and more open to the beautiful, vast world around him! Pike is an all-star dog, and his adoption appointment includes a discussion with the training team, as well as a few enrichment goodies to help get you both off to a good start. To learn more about Pike's or to schedule an appointment to meet him, please email info@ahconnects.org (including your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to assist you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Story
Dakota - Male Black Mouth Cur Mix (BREED AND SUZE AT FULL GROWTH IS BEST GUESS ONLY) Date of Birth 8/1/2024 Current weight 14 pounds Dakota did not start off life very well. Dumped at a very young age (6 weeks) but thankfully found and brought to the shelter in Alabama where he got healthy and hitched a ride to Illinois in hopes of finding his forever home. Here’s his bio from his foster family Dakota 🐾 3 months old This playful goofball is part Black Mouth Cur mix (best guess) , part comedian, and 100% lovable! Dakota is a quick learner, almost housebroken, and has mastered the art of crate training (well, mostly). He’s got a touch of puppy energy but also loves his quiet moments. Think of Dakota as your new best friend who will entertain you, keep you active, and crash beside you for movie nights. Don’t let his “work in progress” status scare you off – he’s ready to love you, quirks and all! If he sounds like the perfect fit for your family please visit the rescue website www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org for requirements, process and applications. WE DO NOT DO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS Thank you for considering the adoption of one of our rescue dogs. We are committed to finding our rescues the perfect home. Together we can make a difference in the life of a dog. The adoption process should be a fun and exciting time for families and dogs. Our goal is to place our babies in forever homes. The potential adopter needs to be dedicated to their care and training for life. Understand that sharing your life with a dog can be a commitment of 15+ years. This would include feeding, exercise, training, vetting, and providing a loving home. Ask yourself, "Am I ready for this type of commitment?" If you are ready, we are here to help. We do have some requirements to help us find the perfect placement of our babies. WE ARE A FOSTER BASED RESCUE ONLY. WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL BUILDING 1. Apply online at https://www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family (including other dogs) to approve an adoption. Only a final approval for adoption can take place after a successful meet and greet. This is done by appointments only. We will not proceed with the adoption if everyone has not met the dog. This will allow others the opportunity to adopt the dog. 2. Adopters MUST be 25 years old. Information on all adults/members living in the home is required We REQUIRE you to provide proof and vet reference that all current and past pets have been kept up to date on all routine medical. 3. Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spayed/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, 4. If you do not own your home, you must provide landlord contact information on the application and a copy of your lease that outlines the rules for dog ownership in your residence. Large breed dogs will not be adopted into apartment settings or where there are breed/ size restrictions. Puppies have special needs and require a home where someone is available to care for, socialize, and give basic training. If you are gone for more than a couple hours at a time, please consider adopting a teen or older dog. 5. Adoption fees are $400.00. We accept Zelle, Cash or Checks. (Prices are subject to change without notice). 6. All dogs and puppies adopted through Forever Home are fully vetted with age appropriate vaccines. Keep in mind once you take possession of your newly adopted dog, any and all future medical costs or care is YOUR responsibility. 7. First time puppy/dog adopters will be required to sign up for and pay in advance a basic training class. A deposit of an extra 50.00 will be required until a class has been completed, it will then be returned. 8. WE DO NOT DO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS Medical included is as follows: Spay/Neuter (age appropriate) *Forever Home uses Fox Valley Animal Welfare League in Aurora, IL Age appropriate core vaccines Fecal testing and deworming Flea and tick preventative Free 1st Vet visit at one of our participating vets Microchipping Forever Home Dog Rescue reserves the right to deny any applicant.

Story
Hi, I'm Chrissy! Thanks for checking me out! I know my cute face is hard to resist, but here's the scoop: I'll need a lot of your time and attention as I grow up into the amazing adult dog I'm destined to be! I'm looking for a forever family that will help me with socialization, training (yes, that includes house training!), and plenty of exercise. And let's not forget the chewing and teething-I'm still learning what's okay (and what's definitely not okay) to put in my mouth. So, be ready for some puppy-proofing! Don't forget those vet visits! I'll need to stay up to date on my boosters and vaccines, which means a few trips to see my favorite vet in the first few months. But trust me, all that effort will be worth it when you experience the endless love, puppy kisses, and pure joy I'll bring into your life. So, if you're up for the challenge and the fun, why not come meet me in person? Stop by during our adoption hours. For more details, email info@ahconnects.org or give us a call at 847-697-2880 x: 0. The friendly folks here will be happy to answer all your questions! Can't wait to meet you and start our adventure together! Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
