Story
Roxanne (aka Roxy) is a wonderful, sweet, smart, and energetic dog who loves people and other animals. She might jump up in her excitement at first introductions or lick until told to stop but her tail won't stop wagging the whole time. She knows how to sit and comes to her name when called every time if inside or within a contained environment (fenced field or yard or a dog park). She's excellent off leash on trails, roaming from side to side or a distance ahead but always checking in and staying nearby. She'll roam further afield in deeper woods but always comes back eventually (once she is used to her owner of course). She's very smart and with a dedicated hand and consistent training can be trained to follow any command consistently even if excited by squirrels or chipmunks. She's good with cats and if she's getting over excited with them, she is very responsive to your command to calm it down as well as the cat’s cues that she's taking it too far. She's energetic and absolutely LOVES playing with canine friends so a home with at least one dog is an absolute must for her as well as one with one or more active humans who have time available for play and training! She does very well with kids but can get nervous with little ones (under 5) if they approach from behind or her side and she is strong and rambunctious, so she’ll do best with children over 12 years old. She loves to be close and snuggle whenever she can, gets very attached to her humans and will make a fantastic companion and family member for any family meeting the above profile! If interested learning more about or meeting this love-bug, Roxy, please contact Village for Paws Rescue at villageforpawsrescue@gmail.com for more information or to fill out an application.

She started out being clearly nervous and skittish around us -- and who could blame her after what she's experienced in the world so far? But it's been the most amazing thing to see her change from day to day, becoming more confident and loving and playful from one day to the next. This girl has a lot of love to give, and absolutely adores being loved on. While she still has a long way to go to being her most confident self, with the quick progress she's making, it's clear the only thing standing between her and her best self is a little time and a lot of love. Geyran happily sleeps in her crate with the door open during the night, doesn't bother you when you're still sleeping, and then comes to greet you and get some rubs when you get out of bed. She is a very clever girl, and despite having never lived in a home before, knows to only potty outside. First thing in the morning she follows close behind me to the front door, then goes straight outside to do her business. During the day she naps on her bed in the living room, and makes trips outside with us when we go out. She is a huge fan of taking a walk on the trail in the woods behind our house. We have been trying to convince her to take it easy with short jaunts only while she adjusts from a more sedentary life in the Oman rescue and GaDah rescue, to being more active. Geyran certainly seems to be good with other dogs, because she manages to get on with our dog Apollo, who has a fairly severe case of only-child syndrome and wants everything to be about him. While Apollo does resource guard us despite our best efforts, Geyran takes it in stride. While I don't think they'll ever be snuggle buddies, they get along as well as we ever could have hoped considering what a tough nut to crack Apollo is. Geyran does try to engage Apollo in play sometimes, but our snooty dog has mostly turned his nose up at her. The only chance we've had to see them play together is when we get either Geyran or Apollo worked up and when one starts to do some zoomies, then the other usually can't resist joining in and suddenly they are lapping the house together. When we bring Geyran into the bedroom at night to sleep, she first comes to our bedside to get lots of rubs alongside Apollo before we turn out the lights and she heads into her crate. She's come to love this routine, and she seems so happy when the both of us are giving attention to them together....I think it's her favorite part of the day. It's honestly been making it harder and harder to stop giving her attention and turn off the light each night. I hope someone out there will finally give this sweet, sweet girl the chance she deserves to find her family, and discover all that she has to give once she has a chance to settle down in her forever home.
