This adorable happy-go-lucky fellow is Marty. He was brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/10 as a stray. According to my Dog Scanner app Marty`s breed mix is listed as Belgian Shepherd Dog, Kangal Shepherd Dog and Black Mouth Cur. He is about six years old, is neutered and is a too-thin 48 pounds. He’s a delightful and charming guy that is friendly, affectionate, happy to cuddle and be loved on! He has the sweetest smile, soulful eyes, cutesy ears, and has a soft silky coat. His ribs are showing and he either was on his own for a while or did not get the proper amount of food needed from his owners. He has a chill personality and is active and alert. Marty does not jump on you. He is a well-behaved, calm and gentle boy. He’s crazy about treats, will sit for them, and is quite polite in receiving them. Marty walks quite nicely on a leash. It is a big mystery why Marty’s people have not come looking for him. He is an amazing boy and is looking for a new home in which he will receive lots of TLC, a place inside with his family, and daily interaction. Please consider whether you can assist Marty in leaving the shelter life behind and finding a home in which people will stay committed to him.

Maybelline would be out of business if women had naturally gorgeous eyes like this. This is Maverick a two-year-old 67 pound Boxer/Black Mouth Cur mix. He was surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/17. The reason stated is that the owners were moving! It may be for the best though, because the previous owner stated, and it’s obvious, that he was an outdoor dog. He has concrete calluses on his elbows and his rear, fly bites on his ears, and his ribs are showing. Dogs are social creatures, and Maverick is no exception. He loves people and wants to be close to his special people. He sits for treats and takes them gently. His sense of smell is very important to him and he kept his nose to the ground to investigate. He was very patient while I put a scarf on him. He gives lots of kisses. The surrender form said that he was not raised with dogs or cats, but was friendly with dogs. He introduced himself to many dogs going through the bay. He was raised with children from toddlers on up. He was good with them. The surrender form stated that he is housebroken. He did his business as soon as he got out into the yard. Would you like to spend your whole life outside? Well, Maverick didn’t either. He’s looking forward to being an inside dog. This is one great dog! He would love to have well-behaved children to love on!

This majestic, handsome boy with golden chestnut coloring is appropriately called Chestnut. I’m just trying to get him out there now as a preview. I will follow up tomorrow. He is unsure, not able to trust, and skittish. He’s gradually, with the staff and volunteer help, been coming around. After spending time with him, he would come close to me and then run away. He flinches when you reach for him. I feel certain that by tomorrow he will be more relaxed, and I will be able to do a better evaluation. He did his business in the yard. He walks very well on a leash. It makes me sad to see a dog so fearful when he really wants to be loved on. I know he has great potential for being a very loving, loyal companion. Stay tuned….

Sweet, smart and docile male dog found in Dallas on October 14th. He has been chipped and neutered, and he has had his first round of shots as well as heartworm meds. He is heartworm negative. He had surgery on 10/24 on his hip from a fracture that happened some time ago (funds were raised and vets stepped up to do the surgery at a reduced cost). He's under 2 years old and weighs 45 pounds. He is in a loving temporary foster home where he is getting special care during his recovery from surgery. HELP FIND A HOME FOR JASPER! We’re looking for a foster or permanent home for this sweet boy! Jasper is a 1 1/2-2 YO Black Mouth Cur who was found running down NW HWY and given the scares around his neck, he has been through a lot in his life. He had a broken hip and through the generosity of our community, we were able to raise funds to pay for his hip surgery and get him neutered. His recovery is going great and he has responded extremely well to training with his temporary foster. They said he’s equal parts sweet & smart and has been great with their kids and friendly with their dog. He’s up to date on all shots, has 1 year of Sentinel and is microchipped. He’s also housebroken and has learned to go to the door when he wants to go out! We are desperate to find a new home for him where he can continue to flourish and live a dog’s life. Meet Jade! Miss Jade was found at a homeless camp in Dallas she had just had 9 puppies days before. Some good samaritans helped get all of her puppies out from under some rubble. All but two have been adopted Jett and Kin are still available . JJade is now ready for her forever home. Its very clear shes been a street dog most her life, she's weary of people at first but warms up. She likes her crate, is house trained surprisingly enough, good with dogs of all sizes and ages. Shes learning how to be a dog! She likes butt scratches once she knows you wont hurt her Jade is a mix of all things, true hinze 57. 35lb full grown About 1- 1/2 years old She would do best in a house with a confident dog or 2.
